Hi all sifus, need help in choosing a laptop for my own as I sold my x1c6 to use my parent's surface book, and the charging port seem to broke down on me. So back to hunting a new laptop haha..
1. Budget : 7.5k ( I'm a student so can get student price ) 2. Usage : some gaming ( DotA and FFXIV), coding, lightroom 3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
Display Size : 15" Battery Life: at least 6 hours when I'm not gaming. Weight: as light as possible without decreasing on build quality... DO NOT want a laptop that screams GAMER for it's look, prefer it to look tone down or professional. As this is gonna be my laptop for work as well..
Currently I'm eyeing on the XPS 15 7590 OLED.. not sure if it's a decent choice, as I tried out the XPS 13 9370 before.. the keyboard is stiff and hard to type for long periods imo..
Anyways, personally no brand preferences. Thankss

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Jul 2 2019, 01:57 PM) Prefer gaming laptop or regular laptop/Ultrabook So you prefer gaming/performance laptop more? Max weight preferred in kg? XPS 15 is...meh...the new one doesn't look good to me too Not full gaming tbh.. altho I prefer performance, but I will give in that I need the battery life to sustain me for about half a day at max. If possible at least 6-7 hours of work time.. Max weight prolly 2.2kg? Idk... I tried my brother's razer blade 15 advanced 2018 before.. that weight is kinda perfect for me..

QUOTE(myway1985 @ Jul 2 2019, 02:10 PM) bro.. DELL xps 15 not worth the investment...even the product designer tell us go XPS 13... lithium ion reach its limit on xps 15.. ur budget can go alienware but too heavy.. haih.. or xps 13 + EGPU + imba monitor Ouch.. I tried xps13, too small for me haha.. had trouble typing on the keyboard, feels to cramped for me, so it's uncomfortable for me. Tbh, I miss the old generation of Alienware before they go thicc.. especially when they have the black and red cover to choose.. damn.. that time the laptop looks so sweet and sexy Already have a good desktop, so need a laptop for portability and some mild gaming performance.. I would actually go for X1 Extreme Gen2 but lenovo is taking their sweet time.. haiz..

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Jul 7 2019, 05:33 PM) You mean difference between 8750H and 9750H? There are some differences but in short, not that significant. Also pls don't use '8th gen' and '9th gen' - these terms are confusing Prodigy runs hot No preference on battery life? Max 2kg weight? Do you really need a thin and light tho. Also need to consider Asus poor QC+QA and warranty Actually kinda prefer thin and light after much thought. I actually thought Asus had stepped up their game.. So, they're still the same as before? I will be bringing the laptop around quite often, so I'll want it thin and light.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Jul 7 2019, 06:47 PM) Level51 Slate-15 - slightly weak CPU cooling Illegear Onyx Lite Commandos Katana 5 - weak CPU cooling (tweaked out of the box for better performance though) Either you get a good unit or a lemon...and if you get lemon, good luck with the RMA Thermals in GU502 aren't that good (barely OK even after tweaking) Max weight preferred in kg? No preference on battery life? Preferably within 2kg. Battery life about 5 hours.

@zm, how much power can you squeeze out of illegear Onyx with regular daily use ( non gaming ) like browsing the net, and doing some programming? Need it to last at least 5 hours.

Hey ZM
Just curious... would you recommend Level51/Aftershock's Vapor 15 Pro? Currently in market with about 8.5k budget looking for a slim and thin laptop that can game a bit here and there. Need the laptop to look not too gamery due to work purpose.
