Then can u enlighten me why u prefer Ryzen 4000 series...
Care to share...
need to make up my mind before spending...

Mainly due to higher power efficiency

1. Budget:
Around RM10,000.

2. Usage:
Gaming.
Office.
Photo Editing.
I travel a lot, hence I place priority on portability and good battery life (6 hours).

3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc):
Thin & Light Gaming Laptop, with understated design.
15.6" Display (Color calibrated, AdobeRGB is acceptable, sRGB > 70%)
144Hz Refresh Rate, minimum.
RTX2070 minimum
16GB RAM
512GB SSD minimum
Battery life 6hours minimum (with refresh rate set at 60Hz, and Nvidia optimus set to utilize Intel UHD).
Weight < 2.5kg
Prefer Keyboard with NO NUMBPAD

I have a few models in mind..
1. MSI GS66
2. Gigabyte Aero 15 Classic
3. Asus Zephyrus S (GX701 I think with the front keyboard + side touchpad)
4. Asus ROG G14 < This is a wildcard, but was hoping it could be offered up to RTX2070, or if its priced at RM6,000, it can be a good option.
*
Can consider GS66 if you don't want numpad
QUOTE(langstrasse @ May 16 2020, 11:51 PM)
Thanks, could you elaborate more with some sample models please ?

ah sorry confused your topic with others

if you want something reliable, you have to sacrifice specs (for your budget), which one do you prioritize?

My priority is for reliability, I'm willing to sacrifice some specs to remain within the RM 5 - 7k range. I'm really looking for a model that can last hassle free for at least 4 years.

I'm currently using a Macbook Air purchased in Dec 2014, that I've never had any issues with so that's my benchmark right now. Unfortunately, new Macs are now way too damn expensive lol.

Also, thanks for taking the time to respond to the many queries in here. rclxms.gif notworthy.gif

Need high sRGB display? Mind non-upgradeable 8GB RAM?

Can wait for Thinkpad with Ryzen 4000, not sure when arrive though

Even business laptops usually have higher reliability, they also have lemon units

-you can use regular USB C to charge powerbank / phone
-RM4k you won't get 1660Ti/2060 laptops with TB3
-if you plan to use eGPU, need to get x4 PCIe lanes TB3, which most of them (Ultrabooks) are without dGPU

I guess you need to make some sacrifices here

Most Ultrabooks have poor / OK speaker quality, even the best can't match Macbook quality IMO

Hi bro.

Doesnt need sRGB display. Non-upgradeable 8GB RAM is fine, since I have never really upgrade the RAM of my laptops. biggrin.gif

high sRGB display = colours more vibrant
low sRGB display = colours washed out

so fine with low sRGB display? (since you mentioned light photo editing)
