RM2k+ you won't get extra reliability

If you want 15 inch, there isn't much good options to choose from. Get the D15

Most laptops don't have good speakers anymore due to the unfortunate arms war on shaving as much z height as possible (which forces manufactures to use smaller speakers and removing things like subwoofers) sweat.gif

If you want laptops that have good speakers right now it's pretty much the realm of DTR laptops like the Clevo X170, or even old laptops like the legendary Dell L502X/Asus N55SF sweat.gif

high sRGB display = colours more vibrant
low sRGB display = colours washed out

so fine with low sRGB display? (since you mentioned light photo editing)
*
Low sRGB is fine. I will check the photos color on other computers after editing, if required.

So main requirement is lightweight and cheap (RM3k and below).

you'll be stuck with lower end GPU if you wanted 13/14 inch, which isn't ideal for the games you play (Zephyrus G14 is exception but it'll be way over your budget, also not avaialble yet)

Hello,
Please assist to provide recommendations for me:

1. Budget :
~RM2.5k

2. Usage :
Output to 1 external monitors/ hdmi TV, CAD, Excel, browsing web, trading platforms, short video editing (less than 10mins), no gaming. No travel needed, placed at home all time. Replace my current 5 years old desktop. Want to get laptop due to lesser cable n more neat on my desk.

3. Requirements:
Display size: no requirements
battery life : no requirements
weight etc : no requirements
Durability & reliability : can last minimum 4 years
Willing to wait up to 2 months.

Thank you!!!!

Premium business laptops usually have better durability+reliability but they don't come cheap, I would say you need at least RM3k for that. Can wait for Thinkpad T14 / X13 with Ryzen 4000

Not sure on this, but a good battery life is always welcomed. But then again you cant have them all, so Im fine either way.

I would say 1-3 months

Since there is no performance/gaming laptop with long battery life under RM5k, you have to go for Ultrabooks

Fine with 8GB RAM or prefer 16GB?

I prefer 16GB because doing quite a fair bit of Adobe illustrator, photoshop, video editing.
I saw the MSI Prestige 15 is also pretty good.

Hmm..what are the laptops I can look out for for the coming 3 months?

Thanks!
