Hello,
Please assist to provide recommendations for me:

1. Budget :
RM 5k to RM 7k

2. Usage :
Output to 2-3 external monitors, CAD, Excel, browsing, videos, medium gaming.
Roughly 70% time hookup to external display and 30% travel/mobile usage.

3. Requirements:

Display size: Minimum 13"

battery life : Minimum 3 hours heavy usage

weight etc : Less than 2.5kg is ideal

Looking for something reliable that can last minimum 4 years.

Willing to wait up to 2 months.

Thank you ! smile.gif

If you want something more reliable, you need to sacrifice specs for that (for your budget)

Thanks, could you elaborate more with some sample models please ?

You want ultrabook or gaming laptops?

I'm actually torn between the 2 types really, maybe you could recommend one candidate from each type then I can look into them ?

ah sorry confused your topic with others

if you want something reliable, you have to sacrifice specs (for your budget), which one do you prioritize?
*
My priority is for reliability, I'm willing to sacrifice some specs to remain within the RM 5 - 7k range. I'm really looking for a model that can last hassle free for at least 4 years.

I'm currently using a Macbook Air purchased in Dec 2014, that I've never had any issues with so that's my benchmark right now. Unfortunately, new Macs are now way too damn expensive lol.

Also, thanks for taking the time to respond to the many queries in here. rclxms.gif notworthy.gif

Can wait for Thinkpad with Ryzen 4000, not sure when arrive though

Even business laptops usually have higher reliability, they also have lemon units

Ok thanks I'll look into it !

Hello boss,
I spent some time looking at the Thinkpads and found that the X1 Extreme Gen2 (appears) to have some discounts right now.

Specs I configured:
QUOTE
Intel Core i7-9750H Processor (2.60GHz, up to 4.50GHz with Turbo Boost, 6 Cores, 12MB Cache)
16GB DDR4 2666MHz SODIMM
512GB Solid State Drive, M.2 2280, NVMe, Opal
15.6" FHD (1920x1080), LED Backlight, IPS, Anti-glare, 500nits, with Dolby Vision HDR 400
NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650 4GB GDDR5 128bit
Total cost is RM7,562.

I'm thinking even if I waited for the next gen with newer components, the prices would probably be higher for similar performance. So perhaps better to get the current generation now ?
I'd appreciate any input you may have on this. notworthy.gif

X1E don't have good cooling, 25W 4600U/4700U probably will perform better in multi core

Ok thanks for pointing that out !
I'll look out for models with those GPUs thumbsup.gif
