I a bit confuse lar now.. hope the gath can move in soon so that I can ask more question directly.

I painted my kits using those lacquer paint which is not recommended for brush painting. This time is ok lar.. I paint, wait it to dry, then repaint again.. but seems like it's very hard to cover those grey(origitnal flat base) colours...Either I :

need to paint 1 or 2 more layers? or
those paint really not suited for brush painting.

Before I go suicide buy spray can instead of paint brushing...

btw Shading effect can't be done by hand painting unless u are expert on hand painting even me no solution for it

unless u want to try 1 method that i experimenting handpainting with top coat Spray Can to achive this effect of shading.

Yup Shading effect is really hard to be done with hand painting! They usually used dry brush to create effect of shading if using hand paint! And u really got to make sure ur paint on the kit is really dried and the brush u using is really dried too! If not.........ur brush will tear off paint from ur model kit instead of adding it on to the kit!
This day ppl do shading effect on kits tat r not paint using weathering marker and sand paper! Quite nice too!

AB easier loh! Just spray the primary color on it first then another layer of color onto it! Settle fast and easy no need to do the parts one by one!

It can actually smile.gif Although I've only used acrylics for this. The concept is pretty similar to how you do pre-shading when using an AB.

Basically, apply the base coat as per normal. Then prepare a mix of the color that you wish to shade with (usually a darker version of the base coat). In hand painting terms, this is called the 'wash', where the paint applied at this stage is very much more dilute compared to when you're doing normal painting.

Then clean up by dry brushing to get the shades to blend in properly.

Do keep in mind that I've only done this using acrylics. No idea how lacquers will take to washes and dry brushing.
