ekyc is compulsary for higher wallet size or advance features

you can avoid ekyc if you dont use it, ie dont top up, dont use the balance, etc etc

fyi, shopeepay split out as standalone app because they are joining the ewallet war with tng ewallet, etc etc

now they are building many services and integrate into shopeepay app


in shopee (ecommerce/marketplace) app, shopeepay presence is more of preferred/prioritized wallet payment, rather than growing ewallet services .... just like grabpay x gxbank

1st, bank issued cc to you for your OWN consumption

2nd, banks rarely ask what you spend, itemized items, who the ecom account belongs to, etc. technically, they should, but limited by their resources to conduct such activities for ALL their cardholders and vast qty of transactions happening....

3rd, it is your sole responsibilities that you manage the cc usage, monitoring, and securing its usage.


in short, you are accountble and MUST be able to answer any enquiries for your card usage or any investigation enquiries by bank (eg your sibling trying to fraud shopee, but using your card).

earlier delay likely due to staffs not available to process.

it's manual processing at ptpptn side. their staffs need to verify fund received from their agents first.

now they are focusing to drive adoption of spl; they even give marketing/posm support for any approved spl merchants.

approval for onboarding as spl merchant is more stringent than usual shopeepay merchant.

reason because spl is islamic/shariah-compliant product. there are many t&c/exclusions involved, like only accept specific merchant/business type and what they are selling (high-risk/non-shariah goods)

that's the whole point of having "annual limit"

how did you pay at POS office? you scan their QR code using Shopee/Shopeepay app and pay with SPL?

the QR code doesnt contain any "items" of your transactions. It's just a payment.

probably newly onboarded merchant under ShopeePay ..... SPL need separate approval (usually 2-3 weeks) to enable SPL.

the requirements as SPL merchant is stricter. not all merchants under ShopeePay are eligible for SPL though.

spl = bnpl, it's for merchant use ... definitely not for individual

road side sellers are mostly P2P/individual DNQR ... they juse use their own bank's DNQR to receive $$ from buyer.
