XPS is consumer grade. Business grade (Thinkpad except E series/Latitude except 3000 series/Elitebook) is more premium

Sorry but do you mind elaborating more on the consumer and business grade?

Oh I didn't know that the thinkpad x-series was more premium. I'll have a look at thw latitude and elitebook ltr. Actually just need a light one easy to bring out and do uni stuff haha

Business grade: higher QC+QA, usually 3 yr warranty

Thinkpad in general: P>T>X>L>E

Ahh I see, in your opinion, usually need that long of a warranty?

Took a look at the latitude 5000, seems not bad, bit heavier than the XPS. But the 7000 seems really good, I'm curious why this isn't getting enough attention compared to the xps though?

Actually would you know any other ultrabooks I should be looking at?

Longer the better of course

Bcoz not everyone likes business style design (old fashion?), many ppl prefer stylish design which can be found in many consumer grade laptops like XPS 13

Refer here for business grade Ultrabooks under 5k: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4771316 (note that prices haven't updated)

Also another bonus point - due to the fact that companies tend to keep their laptops longer, the laptops are also made to be easy to maintain, repair or upgrade icon_idea.gif

My order is stuck now.

An import license is missing and is required for clearance.

Sepang, Malaysia

After searching, this is a common occurrence for Lenovo orders. I hope it will not be stuck there for a long time.

Where did you buy the machine? hmm.gif

Hello,

I'm planning to get a thin laptop for my gf for normal office use.
Currently eyeing on Asus Zenbook UM462D-AAI501T and Huawei MateBook D.

Any opinion on this 2?
My gf don't want business grade cause of the look doh.gif

Budget around 3k

Asus seems nice as it's 512GB SSD and battery life seems good, but thickness wise seems a bit thick?

Anyone used either of it can give some review?

haha I can totally understand that

UM462 actually has lower battery capacity compared to Intel counterpart UX462, so expect battery life of 7 hrs or less

Preferred max weight and min battery life? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM?

Yeah so I'm struggling to get one now biggrin.gif

Preference will be:
- Thin & lightweight (no need to be thinnest and lightest, i know my budget cant achieve biggrin.gif )
- 7 or 8 hours of battery life is good enough tho, I doubt she will work so long without plugged in
- sRGB don't really matter much, cause she is not those eye candy type, she just need to get work done
- as long as it's 8gb ram it's fine, else 4gb + top up to add another 4gb
- 256 / 512 SSD (no need pcie also can)
- 14 / 13 inch

RM3k can get decent consumer grade models under 1.5kg:
Lenovo Thinkbook 13s 20R900DWMJ: upgradeable RAM (1 slot), 3 yr warranty
Acer Swift 3 SF314-55-54A3/5699
Acer Spin 5 SP513-53N-52HJ
Lenovo Ideapad S540-14API 81NH000MMJ: low sRGB IPS
Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R0CS/R2YE +RAM : low sRGB IPS but has upgradeable RAM (1 soldered, 1 slot)

X395 is having sale now, just saying

Asus laptops have poor QC+QA in general...avoid if possible unless you're willing to take the risk. Same goes to Huawei laptops

Hi. Is HP Envy 13-aq1002tx a good pick? I like its look and feel. Maybe I'm looking for a bit more info before making decision.
XPS is more expensive with the same specs.
I don't need touchscreen, I think it will help keep the battery life longer (maybe)?
And what is the diff bw HP aq and ah btw?
Thank you

I would prefer Thinkpad X395, better built

Touchscreen don't affect battery life much

Envy aq and ah is basically the same
