Any preferences on weight, battery life and display size? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM?

Elitebook 830 G5/G6 is fine, however you might want to consider Thinkpad/Latitude also

fyi i5 ULV and i7 ULV don't have much performance difference

Budget? Any preferences on weight, battery life and display size?

hi, 13.3 or 14 is just nice. anything less than or equals to 1.4kg .

battery life, as long as possible.

the only thing about thinkpad is its black and they all look the same.

latitude not sure if it now in ultrabook shape.

fell in love with the look and feel of elitebook, maybe i'm just looking for a cheaper or other alternative before making decision laugh.gif

edit: after you brought up latitude, i just found that there's a latitude 3301, dell claimed lightest 13 inchs, let me check it out

What's your budget?

Some Thinkpads have optional silver colour

Latitude 3000 series is mediocre in general

business use, not really going to play games or watch movie.

but ram must be 16gb. if 8gb with upgradeable slot is fine.

i think its hard to find ultrabook with ram slot right? mostly soldered. only this elitebook has a magical 2 slots( maybe thats why its not really light)

With upgradeable RAM (suggest upgrade by yourself):
Thinkpad P43s / T490 (~1.5kg), L390, L490
Latitude 5300 60Wh

16GB soldered:
Thinkpad T490s, T495s, X390, X390 Yoga, X395

For Latitude 7000 series you need to find reseller, online don't sell

Here are all the good/excellent Ultrabook/regular/business laptops you can buy.

How I rate these laptops:
Build quality first. Battery life second. The rest are display (HD display will be excluded except in low end options), input devices, performance, warranty and portability etc.

Imported Chinese models which are not included: Chuwi, Xiaomi

Additional info:
Usually i5 and i7 ULV don't have much performance difference due to thermal and firmware/power limitations, however CPU performance of R5 and R7 might vary between models due to difference in power limits. Also, there are 3 variants of MX150 GPU: 10W, 10+W and 25W. IMO brands only matter when comes to customer support, choose model not brand.

Thanks for reading! I hope this list helped you to choose the right laptop. Keep in mind that this is my own guide, you might not agree with some of the recommendations and I can understand that.

Should be the same with Thinkbook 13s, though I need more confirmation on this. Not listed because it's out of stock when I was updating this list

It cost more than an arm and an leg. It’s a highly premium stuff, about Apple MacBook level of premium.

actually I'm curious, would you prefer 1 upgradeable RAM slot (single channel only) or 2 soldered RAM?

1 upgradeable generally tops at 16GB the most, except for special case like MSI PS42, heard that it can upgrade to 32GB on its only slot.

While for the case of 2 soldered, I won’t settle for anything less than 16GB in total. Plain 8GB is gonna get obsoleted in near future at the rare smartphones getting their RAM bigger and bigger each years. Many premium ultrabooks charge >RM500 to upgrade from 8GB models to 16GB models, that’s their market strategy.

There’s a popular market practice nowadays of 4GB soldered + another module slot. This one is as bad as single channel single module in first case in the first scenario, but if it’s sub RM2k budget computer, I won’t complain much. For those 3k plus PC like L340 Gaming, that’s just plain stupid.
