Did you enable VLAN or configure the VLAN settings?

Is it connected to LAN 1 of the BTU if you use Unifi.

Make sure the PPPOE ID and password is right.

i dont have the BTU unit , my apologies, im on unifi lite i think, thats the reason why i dont have the BTU unit

may i ask if the 1st deco needs to be cable connected to the router at all times?

will this work with just 1? or works best with 2?

Hi, why not direct contact TP-Link customer service at 03-21414358? They should able to solve the issue.

Your case will be very different if it is Unifi LITE.

For your case you just don't need to use PPPOE mode.

The easiest way to setup is to maintain the provided Unifi Lite NETIS router and connect your Deco M5 to the NETIS router. Reset your Deco M5 and resetup, it should be able to auto detect the Internet connection. smile.gif

Thanks got it running! Also does this also means my router becomes "obsolete" in a way where the signal is actually being broadcast by the deco?

Also when I unplug the cable the deco stops having connection. Shouldn't the deco function as an extender?

Yes, you should only be connected to the WiFi of the Deco now.

The Deco is not a WiFi repeater, as a mesh WiFi system, it still have a main unit connected to the internet source.

Hi, just want to ask...
If want to use m5 in ap mode,
Will the wifi range and speed different compare to use m5 as router?
My concern is , the LAN port on my tp-link archer c1200 is a lot more from m5 😅

No difference, and if you want more ports, just use a smart switch.

Hi guys, i just want to ask,
Is it possible to set static route on deco m5?
I tried to find the way to set but failed.
Normal tp-link route can be set..
Not sure about deco m5...

Each deco comes with 2 or 3 node.

Assume you bought the two pack,
First node is wired to your router or BTU (depend you want setup in router mode or access point mode)

Second node you can put anywhere as long the location between backroom and main node is ideal that can covers your backroom.

If just need back room to access the internet i use 1 node enough put at upstairs hall the room should be able to access? So no need connect via able to btu?

for mesh to work, you need at least two node. First node must wired to btu / router there. Second node maybe can put upstairs living room (wirelessly) maybe.

Not sure how big is your house, if too big then might need 3 node.

from your description if i put the mesh node 1 in the router / btu ( which sits on my study room) then the 2nd node put upstairs can the signal beem all the way there??? the mesh node that strong?? currently i have some kind of repeater from tplink which i bought from lowyatt and its not really working effectively backroom still not able to access any internet... i just want to be sure before i commit to buy from TM.

You can buy it cheaper on lazada/shopee than TM.

I can't speak for you. Maybe the range might be limited if 2 units. But the good thing about mesh is you can add more nodes anytime. If you feel like the range still not good, then you can add another unit.

Hi, i just bought deco M5.. i have problem connecting directly to unifi. i just follow current unifi id n password from old modem and choose PPOE but it says no internet connection. If i connect my deco m5 to old router using dynamic ip then it is ok. do i need to call tm for password reset??
