I saw this review posted 2 days ago today regarding the Raven SE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1Uhm_saVdY

Sadly, a lot of reported issue. Poor hinge quality, battery bloated after a year, keyboard keys no longer functioning properly.

Really worried now since I've ordered my Raven SE 2 weeks ago. Previously had read a lot of videos and most seemed ok until this review. Don't know this is a 1st gen Raven issue or Raven/Illegear brand issue as a whole.

Can any other Raven user confirm this?

I am not able to be sending my laptop in for service in the future as I will be using this laptop for my uni studies in overseas, therefore will not be able to come back Malaysia for months. Really worried now that various problems will arise after a while.

Can anyone who is experienced chip in on this? May want to consider a refund/cancellation now if these complains are true and happen to many others.

This is basically the definition of "you get what you pay for" You can't expect an ODM that sells at these kinds of volumes to boutique system builders to put in stuff like a metal backplate behind the keyboard or metal hinges without the end user paying the premium for it. That being said, you can obviously expect customer service which is what you paid for as well but that is a case by case basis at that point

does onyx line have this hinge or battery issue? if no I may want to consider my order from raven se to the onyx v ryzen since the build of onyx uses aluminium also. Any professional or experienced opinion on this?

Edit: Cant delete this but Illegear has responded below

Just to clarify:

The 47Wh (3S1P) and 63Wh (4S1P) in RAVEN (ID-E) is different from the 47Wh in SELENITE (ID-S), RAVEN SE (ID-V) and other models, and they are from different battery manufacturers.

Thanks for correcting. Will delete prev post

I was surprised to see them still giving old 2666 mHz CL19 ram instead of 2933 mHz CL17(or lower) even when the CPUs support it. sad.gif
*
Wished they offered HyperX CL15 sticks or some of Corsair's higher speed ones but that would cost them and us a pretty penny

After updating to Windows 10 ver2004 , it becomes lower temperature ( approximate 56°C with only Chrome running )
Not sure why though

How did you get 2004? Are you on Windows Insider?

Updated on 7pm, the latest EC and BIOS resolve both battery draw and fan boost.
*
Just curious about this update, does it solve the 99% battery on startup or something else entirely?

Kindly try on the newly updated ILLEGEAR Command Center

https://support.illegear.com/Drivers/Laptop...32_ILLEGEAR.zip

This should memorize the mode saving.

Nice a new command center version! Can 9th gen units use it?

So, any updates to command center X which has custom fan control like FAN MANAGER (http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/tongfang-gk7cn6s-gk7cp0s-gk7cp7s.825461/page-54)?
*
I think its either see if this Fan Manager can be used on our laptops or we use the Control Center from other brands which have fan control. The one that comes to mind is Eluktronics

On the bright side, my keyboard backlight issue (random keys stayed green) seems to have fixed itself

It is advisable to use this the laptop (selenite pro) with lid close while gaming? I am connecting the laptop to an ext monitor.
*
So far it seems that these chassis draw air from the keyboard deck as well. Would recommend that you keep the lid open but turn off the internal display

I spoke to both XMG and Elucktronics and according to their CS, their own Command Center is compatible with our machines. The one from Eluktronics has a fan curve setting in it

Hi, is there any review on poseidon xe desktop? Interested to get one but I have limited knowledge on water cooling system.
*
This is a notebook thread so not exactly the right place to ask this but anyways, it will literally be the same as building your own custom loop machine. Only difference is that you're getting someone to build and leak test for you. And you also only have to bring the machine back to one place for warranty should you ever need to

Is anybody experiencing some patches on the keyboard's RGB ligthing? Also white isn't actualy white. It's noticeably purple on the bottom area of the keyboard. And notice on my f10 key some of the rgb is not lighted up. Am i eligble for a keyboard replacement?

White is never fully white on most keyboards. Even on my desktop mech white usually has some hue to it. But that random splash of purple definitely isn't right as well

Was messing around with diff control centers from other vendors and they all work on our machines. Tested on my 9th gen Selenite with 2060. Currently using the XMG one which is also version 2.0.3.1 as compared to the 1.0.5.0 for my specific model. It also has this little bit under its Turbo mode

hi Prince J, could you let us know more in detail what is this stress test about? what is it testing and how long does it usually take?

as from the current situation, it seems like stress test is the reason for every delay
*
If their stress test is just Heaven or Valley benchmark on a loop, they should just push it all the way and use Prime95 small FFT or OCCT and Furmark SIMULTANEOUSLY for a few hours to properly stress the machine tongue.gif . Prime 95/OCCT is already the default for people who want to test OC stability and leave it overnight. Heaven/Valley are incredibly easy to run and should not be counted as proper stress tests. At the very least Timespy or Firestrike combined test on loop should suffice as well.

but it seems like their stress test take days instead of hours  hmm.gif
*
I'm surprised its taking them so long to stress test. One hour Prime 95 and Furmark more than enough dy. Any system will be pushed all the way with it. Although i dont think i'm in a position to say anything since my Selenite was able to be picked up within the 14 day period stated by them and that was around late November last year

I personally use a mix of Firestrike and Timespy loops for at least half an hour if not longer whenever i change thermal paste or settings on my undervolt. If it can't pass it, it isnt stable enough

I have finally gotten mine as per Azim's reply above! Funnily the status only updated after I inquire here and the Illegear staff look into our cases here  flex.gif
What more, the whole time my order was "payment received and in process" ... after posting here at 2.44 one shot update "order in progress" , "order ready" and "order shipped"

immediately got my laptop the next day (aka yesterday) .

It's nice to receive it but Illegear should really work on timely updates  blink.gif  being in the shoe of waiting without no updates really makes one anxious  rclxub.gif

Ps. Ordered mine on 13/7/2020
*
Huh so it seems like people now need to go to Azim for the them to actually get your orders moving...

Raven SE-R. This normal? 99 degrees celcius and 70W cpu? Or is repasting needed

does it hit high 90s consistently? Usually max temps are spikes in temperature when the processor gets loaded. Eg Hwinfo64 will report like 70 something on my 8700K but my temps are always low 40s consistently. Same thing with my Selenite.

oof. sounds like either a really bad paste job or extremely bad contact between the heatsink cold plate and the dies
