Hey, i'm really into the flying V's right now. I was wondering which i should have a look at. My budget is at max RM4500. And it's going to be used mostly for metal like A7X, COB, Trivium, Metallica and a little bit of shred.

Specs:

Both bridge AND neck pickups
24 frets
Unfinished neck (optional)
Hardtail or OFR, doesn't really matter.
Looking kickass would be a plus point.

Well, do any V's fit those specs? Or should i go custom? I would really appreciate your help, because this is going to be my main gig guitar. Just give me some input or suggestions.

PS: Don't tell me to get a new amp, i'm planning on getting a Randall RG50TC. Thanks.

which V? the standard V series?
ESP are pretty expensive, but they're worth your money.

there are quite a number of nice V's (i'm a huge V fan too), like Jackson Randy Rhoads 3, Epiphone Flying V, ESP V's..
someone selling a dave mustaine flying V signature series too(the old one) DV-8

ESP would be a good choice..... they just added in 2 new standard Vs with 24 frets.

I didn't like them because there was no FR....

And where the heck are you getting the Randal??? Been looking for that amp for AGES now.... closest I can find is in Singapore.....

I think what he means is that frets 23 and 24 are very hard to access. Even on the RR3 with 22 Frets, the upper fret access is quite limited... because of the neck joint...

Added on June 22, 2007, 5:03 pm...that said... maybe the RR24 is neckthrough?

i c i c XD.

So frets 23 and 24 access shouldn't be a problem for the RR24 then...

frankly, if it had a neck pup, it'll really roxxorz ftw.

The ESP SV Standard has similar specs... 24 frets, neck through body, bevels (but the body is black with white bevels), ebony fretboard and OFR... guitar collection (or is it guitar store?) sells it for RM7999.... but, dunno lah, saw it hanging on the wall, didn't look like a guitar worth paying 8k (or 5k for that matter)... workmanship is probably top-notch (being an ESP and all) but it kinda looks cheap... icon_rolleyes.gif

Yea guitar collection is WAY overpriced. I guess my best option is the RR24 huh? Lucky its a neck thru, looked hard to access those 2/3 last frets. Any idea how much it is over here? Any local stores carry them? I want to play it first to test it out.

PS; Yea blacktrix, a friend of mine at Singapore said he can help hook me up with the Randall. Are you interested in getting that exact model too?

YES! VERY MUCH INTERESTED!
If it's below or around the RM3000 price mark, I wouldn't mind getting it end of the year. It's been awhile to get a good All-Tube amp with decent gain at that price....

Oh, and for your guitar, Guitar Collection brings in ESPs, but VERY expensive and will past your 5k price mark.

Yea, i heard the Randall is a really good amp for metal. Guess i have to rule out ESPs. Again, know how much the RR24 is over here or which outlets store them? Thanks.

Again, ESPs only distributor as far as I know of in KL is in Guitar Collection. Pop by the Mid Valley one and check them out....... I'm going there this Sunday for my lesson, so I can ask if they are gong to bring them in.

ask yer friend in singapore to pop by Davies guitar at peninsula plaza, last time i saw bunch of ESP and LTD's Vees. ESP ones at SGD$2.4 or more. the LTD's are around SGD$900 onwards, they also has BC Rich, not much left tho. only got Beast, Warlock. A friend of mine, she got the Ironbird ;p

called them and ask.

Ah crap. Me and my redbull fueled brain.

Your best bet is to again, order from Bentley, but don't expect it to arrive soon.

If you can get it from Singapore, the better.
