Hey, i'm really into the flying V's right now. I was wondering which i should have a look at. My budget is at max RM4500. And it's going to be used mostly for metal like A7X, COB, Trivium, Metallica and a little bit of shred.
Specs:
Both bridge AND neck pickups 24 frets Unfinished neck (optional) Hardtail or OFR, doesn't really matter. Looking kickass would be a plus point.
Well, do any V's fit those specs? Or should i go custom? I would really appreciate your help, because this is going to be my main gig guitar. Just give me some input or suggestions.
PS: Don't tell me to get a new amp, i'm planning on getting a Randall RG50TC. Thanks.

Yea guitar collection is WAY overpriced. I guess my best option is the RR24 huh? Lucky its a neck thru, looked hard to access those 2/3 last frets. Any idea how much it is over here? Any local stores carry them? I want to play it first to test it out.
PS; Yea blacktrix, a friend of mine at Singapore said he can help hook me up with the Randall. Are you interested in getting that exact model too?

Yea, i heard the Randall is a really good amp for metal. Guess i have to rule out ESPs. Again, know how much the RR24 is over here or which outlets store them? Thanks.

The RR24 is a Jackson man, not ESP.

Wtf, RR24 at Bentley 5.5k?! Its only $1225 = RM4241.21. I know got tax and all, but why did it come up to an extra RM1250?? I was thinking about getting that, but now it seems overpriced and off my budget.

Haha, isn't that the new V blade by Ibanez or something? If he's coming with Herman Li to the guitar clinic next month, i think i'll do just that. Haha.

^Don't have a credit card man. If i'm getting anything, i have to get it locally. And besides, i don't really believe in 2nd hand guitars, but 2nd hand amps are ok. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Haha, you guys hijacked my thread. Lol.
Yea, the Razorback V is sweet, but costs a bomb. Where do they stock Dean guitars in M'sia? Haven't seen any shops carrying them so far.

I tried getting a quote from them. According to them, my ideal guitar would cost around 8k!! EDIT: And where is Kota Kemuning btw? This post has been edited by fatboythin: Jun 28 2007, 10:56 PM

Yea, i know man. The only 22 fret V i'd settle for is either the RR3 or the Razorback V. But the Dean just looks so darn killer, hope they have stock of it.
Besides, Corey from Trivium uses the Razorback V. So it should be 'shredable'. Haha.

How is the upper fret access on the RR3 man? And i have small hands btw, garn.
And do the pickups do the job for metal? I heard that the JB sounds too trebly in alder.

^Yea, i know you had the LP-100 before.
Darn, hoped the RR3 would have at least good fret access. Is there a big difference between a bolt-on and a set-in? The Razorback Vs have set-in necks.
EDIT: On second thought, forget the Dean. Definitely going to be way off my budget. Any recommendations of rad looking and good sounding guitars that won't require me to break the bank? I need it as my gig guitar. Thanks guys.

Haha, the 60s necks are ok, but i really hate those baseball bat 50s necks... LTD MH-400? How much is that going for at GC? Knowing them, surely its gonna be like twice the price it should be..

I just knew that was coming. WAY overpriced, haih. Guess i'll just have to make do with something else.
Any other recommendations? Doesn't have to be a V anymore. Just a good metal guitar with 24 frets and a neck thru. Max budget RM2.5k. Thanks again.

My RG370DX is fine man, but i think i'll use it mostly for shred. Doesn't really have a good bottom tone, sounds very nasal. Doesn't suit chugging heavy metal TBH. And yea, the trem is a serious pain in the @$$.
But any pickups you recommend that would make it more suitable for heavy metal man? If it sounds good, then i won't buy another axe i guess.
