dude, its called RR24 for a reason.
cos it has 24 frets tongue.gif

I think what he means is that frets 23 and 24 are very hard to access. Even on the RR3 with 22 Frets, the upper fret access is quite limited... because of the neck joint...

Added on June 22, 2007, 5:03 pm...that said... maybe the RR24 is neckthrough?

i c i c XD.

So frets 23 and 24 access shouldn't be a problem for the RR24 then...

frankly, if it had a neck pup, it'll really roxxorz ftw.

The ESP SV Standard has similar specs... 24 frets, neck through body, bevels (but the body is black with white bevels), ebony fretboard and OFR... guitar collection (or is it guitar store?) sells it for RM7999.... but, dunno lah, saw it hanging on the wall, didn't look like a guitar worth paying 8k (or 5k for that matter)... workmanship is probably top-notch (being an ESP and all) but it kinda looks cheap... icon_rolleyes.gif

Wtf, RR24 at Bentley 5.5k?! Its only $1225 = RM4241.21. I know got tax and all, but why did it come up to an extra RM1250?? I was thinking about getting that, but now it seems overpriced and off my budget. sad.gif

How bout jackson star RR? Ishibashi U-box got a 2nd-hand Jackson RR-J2 going for about RM2.3k (roughly RM2.8k if plus shipping and 10% sales tax).

Darn, hoped the RR3 would have at least good fret access. Is there a big difference between a bolt-on and a set-in? The Razorback Vs have set-in necks.

The upper fret access on the RR3 is nothing compared to the Ibanez RG /w the AANJ, but access up to 20th fret isn't a problem.

Not many songs require you to shred your @ss off in the 20 to 22nd fret area anyway... unless you're into some really seriously psycho-shred stuff with sweep arps that start like on the 22nd fret low E... but if you're into that kind of stuff, you'll probably have the skill to compensate for the fret access anyway. tongue.gif

My RG370DX is fine man, but i think i'll use it mostly for shred. Doesn't really have a good bottom tone, sounds very nasal. Doesn't suit chugging heavy metal TBH. And yea, the trem is a serious pain in the @$$.

But any pickups you recommend that would make it more suitable for heavy metal man? If it sounds good, then i won't buy another axe i guess.

Ok, first off... I admit I'm an EMG ho' so what I'm gonna say is probably biased like hell.

EMG81 in bridge, EMG85 in neck... the standard EMG metal config... hehe...

The 81 is good for rhythm, but a bit tricky for fast leads coz the output is so high. The 85 on the other hand is d@mn nice for leads, very smooth and clear...

The thing about the 81/85, if I'm not mistaken, is that they are actually low output passive pups that get boosted significantly by the internal pre-amp... so even though you can get very very high gain sounds, it's a very very quiet pup when you don't play.

And for chugging heavy metal, you can probably use an EQ to boost the bottom end... the EMGs themselves have very flat EQ, so they respond very well to tweaks...

Or you can probably just work on heavy picking hand technique... wink.gif
