Am looking at ddpai z40 & 70mai A500s
Is it possible to customise the settings?

For example, only activate for collision instead of recording whenever im driving?
*
Not for Z40, i do not recall such setting for dashcams.

QUOTE(tzxsean @ Feb 21 2024, 09:42 PM)
Is 64GB memory card enough for storage?
*
"enough" is relative:
how long is your drive
how delegent you are to check/clear emergency videos

remember, non-emergency videos will be overwritten, only those videos which are saved due to impact/via dedicated button will not be overwritten.

QUOTE(tzxsean @ Feb 21 2024, 09:42 PM)

Also, how many here oso obtained the hardware kit for parking surveillance? Not sure how useful it is
*
I started using dashcam before hardwire "kits" are available, just modify the existing cable. However for my usecase, I no longer use constant recording. Ideally for me, there would be an inline switch to turn off the constant power.

been thinking to install dashcam for my parents toyota camry acv30 but i had zero idea which brand and how much it will cost me , my budget max not more then rm1.5k
*
do basic research, 1.5k, IMO is an enormous budget for dashcam

I have 2 units of ddpai, can find from official store:
https://shopee.com.my/ddpai.my

also join their official FB page, for updates/news/promo/etc

Did you contact seller/manufacturer for troubleshooting or sound more likely an RMA

already ordered a new power cable see how thing goes
actually i already tried usb,obd also same result
*
it looks like interference, in one of my previous vehicles, my dashcam would get scroll lines when connect phone to the USB port (also DIY, not OEM).

thus I seperated the 2 sources, then resolved.

the idea is to reduce the number of variables, thats why test direct from batt & go from there.

directly from batt you mean the fuse box is it?
*
yes,just to rule out variables.

once inside the cabin, any 12v may come from various modules/relays/etc.

if from batt results in exact same condition, then the device is faulty. Halfway plugged in may intro other long term affects which i am not educated on, maybe can also explore what effects & causes of this.

As for ferrite beads, over a decade ago i played with this, i didnt find any difference in my use case.

For new car with warranty, if I just want a dash cam that record while driving and auto off when engine stop or in parking..the safest choice is connect to the cigaratte port?
*
I have no experience with cars less 10yrs of age laugh.gif

but in previous posts, seem some make/model has active acc/cig port even after engine is off, thus perform your own testing to confirm.

my 40yr old car using cig port.

Yup I agreed with you too, it totally up to manufacturers to decide if it voids or not hence they reserved the rights. When I was surveying dashcam for my new car that is soon to be deliver next week, the seller kept telling me we don’t cut wire and just tap to the fuse for power so warranty confirm no void, yet I am still doubtful. Checking with service centre got me same respond that they reserve to rights to void.

End up now I don’t want to install any dash cam haha. Too bad my car manufacturer also no offer their own brand dashcam.  cry.gif
*
Just use the 12v port, may forgo parking mode then.

Thats why ppl like to use "new car got warranty" as a pillar, but fail to understand the warranty is only as strong as the willingness of the company to uphold it. It isnt written with the customers interest in mind.

QUOTE(Cavino @ Jul 4 2024, 08:46 AM)
I also think no need dashcam, all my cars old car without dashcam
*
My 39year old car has a dashcam, having 1 is better than none at all.

I've been using dashcam for a decade now.

1 incident where the dashcam is useful, would already ROI the cost of it in monetary, time, headache.

the hardwire and sun thing is two different statements btw, not together

I bought the n5 dual during 9.9, gonna install it when the sd card comes, hopefully its a good choice

btw I want to ask if the app footage  can view by multiple user or same account log in different phone? because very mahuan if only 1 person can see
*
Can multidevice, just not at same time. Cuz app auth to camera, not an account.

Hi all, got a 2004 Avanza and would like to add a dashcam. Someone recommended adding an android player with 360 camera but I think that one too difficult.

My budget for dashcam is about RM200-400. Car windscreen is also tinted.
*
if budget few hundres, forget the android implementation

go see shopee DDPAI official store which suits your budget and/or requirements

windscreen tint is non-issue if within specification

Bought a 2-channel Viofo A139 4K Pro in Dec 2023 and it suddenly got stuck in a reboot loop starting from last week. Searched around a saw a number of people complaining about the issue online. Unfortunately for me, looks like the warranty period is only for 1 year in Malaysia.

A 1400+ camera (bought the parking kit as well) down the drain in a year. Thinking of trying another manufacturer this round. Any recommendations?

Edit: Just to add, hardly drive this car. I get a 30% rebate from Etiqa's DLSM program as I work from home. It's always parked indoors in my condo carpark. Quite disappointed that it has broken down so quickly. The last Viofo A119 worked great for ~6 years.
*
I can only speak for brands that I have used, and the most recent ones is DDPAI, I have:
Z40
N1
Dual2X

all thus far been good, considering the mostly reasonable price.

my past dashcams:
G1W
blueskysea B1W

My DDPAI z40 bracket holder is broken. Most likely due to heat over the years (my car is park outdoor 24/7) and bumping due to uneven road I guess. So my unit can’t be attached to the holder anymore.

Anyone faced this issue before? How to fix it? Or what tape can be used? There is an option of buying the holder only but I try to avoid this if possible, as it might spoil my tinted when pulling out the old unit.
*
There is a suction mount for z40, search in shopee.

This will involves the removal of the current mount. Any other methods to remain with current mount and stick the dashcam on it? Preferably this way so I don’t need to risk spoiling my tint
*
Bruh.

Epoxy, then later have to break it to replace

I've removed dashcams for decade, tint not damage if do properly.

Or, just mount it next to current mount instead.

Hi all the sifu here, I am thinking of getting DDPAI z50 pro with 4G, anyone using this? Does the 4G drain car battery very fast?
*
Z40 hardwire, although i had set below 12v cutoff,.immediately car had low voltage problem.

Several reports with same issue in ddpai fb page, but the admin limit those posting.

QUOTE(Zhik @ May 24 2025, 11:11 AM)
Does ur dash cam capture the number plate during the night, in the condition with and without road light?
*
Any camera will struggle due to low light, thus in pitch black there is not enough information (light) for the sensor to capture.

how old is your battery and do you run aftermarket audio or additional items? Im just curious.  I have a 70mai 510s hardwire w 4g, even w cut off at 12.4v my new battery died under 10 months. Car is stock standard no additional or modifications done... Now I off 24/7 (timelapse) recording.
*
Battery over 2yrs old
No aftermarket stuff.

Never had any battery issues, but immediately after hardwire.

I been using dashcam over 10yrs, just this time first time hardwire.
Now i set 15min after engine off only, so far so good.
