I always say dashcams is like you buy medical insurance. You don't need it until something happens. laugh.gif

Indeed. The recordings can shed so much light when it comes to investigation.

Like the recent major accident in Subang Jaya, there were 4 cars involved and caused one death. Unfortunately none of the 4 cars have dashcam.

Nice. Finally the up the write/read speed of the previous version.

But write speed still slower than Evo Plus though. Seems all high endurance have a slow write speed of 45mb/s.

Fastest high endurance is Kingston

Looks like we have much choices now. Which is excellent! Now wait for prices or discount.

How's the testing of 256GB Evo plus? Can be used nicely for Viofo A129 or A119v3?

Hi, newbie here. I am looking for budget dashcam and after watching some videos about b1w, i saw that the parking mode need to turn on manually by app. Is it true?  Also pls recommend me some budget dashcam with parking mode cuz the place i stay at is not secure. Tq
*
Yes, B1W requires manually activation of parking mode through the app.

Therefore it's best to use Viofo A119v3 or A129 Duo for parking mode.

What is video if not still pictures moving fast.. laugh.gif  laugh.gif
*
Not sure if Thinkware cam can capture up to your requirements or not. Moving object harder to capture since the lens focus tend to be static while our eyes focus is dynamic, hence it looks clearer when we focus on specific car/objects at night.

Just my thoughts. Well, there's always room for improvement. Imagine having OIS in dashcam and dual cam just like smartphones. Video recording might be superb !

Indeed. That's the challenge where the firmware needs to be able to identify where to focus.

But that's where it's the largest area needs to be improve over time.

QUOTE(Jack234 @ Aug 18 2019, 09:28 PM)
My A129 occasionally will beep once or twice in a row when I'm driving. I have checked the footage, there is no video that's saved in the "locked" folder. Just usual loop recording video.
Anyone knows the reason of that?
*
Just wondering during its beep or the screen lifted up, did you notice if the recording resets back to 0.00 and start recording again?

My A129 currently does that and I'm still figuring out is it the firmware issue or my fuse tap from the ACC tapping into cigar fuse. It only happens during my idle-start-stop ignition

Does your cig port power off when idle start/stop is activated? You can easily test by plugging phone for charging. If it turns off, you can see from your phone it stop charging.
*
The cig port is working despite engine off during idle. So I'm still monitoring the recording to see if it's stopped. So far the recording is okay, just that some of the recording doesn't capture full 5 mins. It's probably less than that and it continues recording into a newer recording period time.

QUOTE(Jack234 @ Aug 19 2019, 09:46 PM)
For your problem, I guess is your ciggie port, unlike my problem, where it happens randomly when the car is moving. The screen didn't wake up when it beeps.
Anyway, I have browse through the Internet, some people say it might be due to bad memory card or wire problem like loose connection to rear camera.
I have formatted the memory card and test with h2test, no error. I have also checked all the connections. I'll monitor it first for the time being.
*
Maybe you can try set factory default settings the A129 and setup again. Worst case, reflash the firmware and also try a diff memory card.

A dashcam works in the same way like an insurance.
Good to have when you needed it.

Many actually think it's just good to have, not a necessity. Or they are too lazy, or justify not installing by saying it'll attract thieves.
Now, its usage has been expanded to include capturing road bullies. With video, bullies can't get away easily.

My big-ass Yi cam in front is easily seen by drivers in front of me, so that might act as a deterrent against potential stunts by them.
*
The dashcam managed to allows me claim minor incident from RapidKL bender fender my car. A year ago.

Then a few times I've reported to JPJ WhatsApp on cars/trucks driving dangerously.

Recently, identify which 🐈 that scratches my car in the middle of night. Wasn't big issue, but aware at least.

Main factor would be pricing. Since it's just 4k recording. Currently 1080p from the A129 Duo never fails me so far when it comes to recording.

One thing I notice is that, when my car start it's engine after on stop ignition during idle, the camera screen awakes but luckily no recording stopped. It continues recording as usual.

Not sure if vibration awakes it, but upon checking the recording through app, the recording files aren't locked either. So it could be just vibration of the car awakes it but not strong vibration enough to lock the file.

I've set it to 3 minutes recording interval. So to my assumption, the first stage of low vibration wakes the screen and second stage of stronger vibration will trigger the current recording file to be lock.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hahaha, just in time I've an issue with my Viofo. I don't know what's wrong but I hope someone can pinpoint to the cause of it.

Been using hardwired (original from Viofo) A119v2 (GPS) since about a year back? Recently it randomly restarts.

At first I thought maybe it was the the road, I went through pothole/bump or something and dislodge the connection or so. So I went and check if there are any loose connection but I couldn't find any. Just yesterday, while my car was stationary at the traffic light, the dashcam randomly restarted again. So I've rule out my first suspicion but still doesn't solve my issue.

Anyone had similar experience before?

QUOTE(KIntos @ Sep 2 2019, 03:00 PM)
Do you have GPS module? If yes, check the GPS module pin condition. Snap a picture of the pin condition.
*
Correct. Check the pin as Kintos mentioned. My A119v2, I added some thick tape in between the GPS module and the dashcam to let it stays fit and not loose.

I thought the tape thing was only applicable to a119 v1 as they have already fixed this issue in a119 v2's GPS mount's pins to a different type. No?
*
Apparently my A119v2 had slight gap, hence putting the double sided tap to solidify it. Anyways, no harm putting it and leave it there. Haha

QUOTE(tifosi @ Sep 3 2019, 11:37 AM)
Thanks guys. Don't think anything is with the firmware because it has been working for like the past year. Only recent 2 weeks it started to randomly restart. Using Samsung EVO Plus 64 GB.

Yes, using the GPS module. I've read on the pin issues that's affecting the v1 but didn't know the v2 also face this. Forgot to take picture but I removed the dashcam, rub rub and slide it back in. Will update on this again. So far this morning was ok.
*
Hopefully the good-ol tap solves your issue

Anyone using SanDisk A1 microSD cards for some period of time?

I am looking to purchase one of the A1 for dash cam. But still having slight doubts given its previously non-A1 recording issue

using A1 for both my Front Yi car cam and rear 70mai
since Oct 2018

the front one with 128GB have error when start, though it still records well
(suspect compatibility issue with cards 64GB)
and the rear is 64Gb no issue so far
*
Noted. Have you consider warranty for the 128GB instead? Since it's still under warranty.

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Sep 17 2019, 11:34 AM)
Sandisk Ultra A1 is the improved version of the non-A1.

Durability is like the Samsung Evo Plus when used in dashcams.

Then can safely purchase 128GB size. tongue.gif

I bought 200GB A1 SanDisk from Lzd for RM127 include shipping.

Will wait for the card and do some test run. A129 Duo will be able to record more parking stuff !
