I'm actually surprised when I heard about that when I just bought my PS3. Everything on the PS3 are more 'open' compared to the 360, up to a point where you can't even backup your games from your HDD unless you purchase their memory sticks.
PS3 on the other hand, works with all USB drives.... |

Are you talking about DLNA? It's just a way for PS3 to talk to software that supports DLNA so you can view all the shared files via XMB.
I'm not too sure how firmware prior to 1.8 works. |

At C-Zone 120Gb Seagate SATA sells for RM 310, the same price for 160Gg PATA drive.
Wait a minute. For RM 245 for 120Gb SATA drive from Thundermatch. This post has been edited by cylon: Jul 13 2007, 07:17 PM |

QUOTE(Ninja @ Jul 13 2007, 05:21 PM) Speed no difference I think. I think I read somewhere. For the hard-disk, 2.5" SATA only. MP3 you can always stream from your PC as well as photo and Movies...My 60GB tinggal another 9GB. Full of HD clips and MP3, and game demos too. For me My ps3 HDD is strictly for games...for video clips which I've dl'ed from PSN i will then trf to My PC HDD of which will then be accessed by my PS3 via DLNA. So, 60 GB is already big enough for me. Right now, I have more than 40 GB alone for video in my PC all of which is in PS3 format (easier to fast forward or rewind). All is accessible via DLNA. Unless I have games that can no longer fit on my 50GB (after Linux partition) HDD...I find there's no reason to upgrade. |

Here is the confirmation that the $499 60GB PS3 is a fire sale to clear the 60GB PS3 inventory. When the stock is gone, all PS3 models (assuming they will be announcing new models) will not have the far more superior backward compability Emotion Engine (which is currently available in the 60GB and the discontinued 20GB model).
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=14685 Hirai Confirms Sony America To Phase Out 60GB PS3 Model A spokesman from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has confirmed to Gamasutra that the 60GB hard drive version of the PlayStation 3 will be phased out in the U.S., with no plans to replenish stock once current supplies run out. The surprising news first came to light in an online interview with SCEE president David Reeves, in which he suggested that the 60GB version would cease to be available by as early as this month. This despite a $100 price cut for the console only having been announced on Monday and Sony proclaiming greatly increased sales as a result at its media briefing on Wednesday. Gamasutra has confirmed the story with a SCEE spokesman, who indicated that "The US are currently transitioning from the 60GB to the 80GB mode of the PlayStation 3. When stock of the 60GB model runs out it will no longer be available in the U.S." The impact of this move in Japan is currently unclear, but the same spokesman was also able to confirm that there are currently no plans to release the 80GB console in Europe - where a new bundle for the 60GB model has just been announced, instead of a price cut. With the 20GB version of the console already having been phased out in the U.S., this will leave the 80GB version of the console as the only model available. This version of the console will, like the European 60GB consoles, not include the PlayStation 2 Emotion Engine but instead rely upon software emulation of PlayStation 2 titles. Since the 80GB model is sold for $599, with a free copy of MotorStorm, the move essentially cancels out the $100 price cut - which itself was greeted with only muted praise by many in the industry, with Konami and Capcom executives both suggesting that further cuts would be necessary. [UPDATE: Speaking in a new video interview with Norwegian site VG Multimedia, Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai has confirmed that the company is "no longer in production for [the 60GB model]." "Once that product is gone from the retailer's shelves, then we're back to the $599 SKU only," said Hirai. "It's not like we have a two price strategy here in the US market. We found out very early on that consumers react mostly to having one SKU as opposed to two." Asked for an official response, an SCEA spokesperson told Gamasutra simply, "As announced this week, SCEA's product offering in North America consists of a 80GB PS3 available in August at $599 and a 60GB PS3 available now for $499. We have will have ample supplies of both models to meet the needs of our consumers for the foreseeable future." |

Rumor from ps3fansboy.com
Heavenly sword demo available on europe psn 15/7/2007 ***We've managed to get our hands on what exactly we can expect from the EU PSN Store this month. After this week's huge update, we had high hopes that this month would continue offering us some excellent content. Those hopes seem to be well founded. Check out the list of releases for the upcoming weeks. While not exhaustive, this list focuses on major, highly-anticipated playable content. * Heavenly Sword demo * Crash Bandicoot 2 PS1 game for PS3/PSP * Spyro 2 PS1 game for PS3/PSP * Gateway to Glimmer PS1 game for PS3/PSP * WipEout 2097 PS1 game for PS3/PSP * MediEvil PS1 game for PS3/PSP We've also heard mention of the Blast Factor expansion, Snakeball and Feel Ski but aren't certain whether these will be coming our way in July. If not, then we'll probably see them in August. Also on the horizon is news about Warhawk and the Motorstorm Coyote Weekend VIP Pass update. Oh, and in the run up to the Heavenly Sword release in September we'll be seeing five "Animated History" videos which give the game some backstory, along with some more making-of content appearing on the Store too. No doubt each week will be peppered with the normal trailers as well. |
