1.2TB PS3 by 2010? As hard drive manufacturers relentlessly pursue packing greater aerial density on smaller devices, Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc. may have an ace in the hole. The company is announcing later this week that it has created ideally "ordered" alumina nanohole patterns for isolated bit-by-bit recording on a large disk area. With that feat, Fujitsu says it has successfully demonstrated the ability to perform basic read/write capability of each individual nanohole of the patterned media using a typical flying head on a rotating disk. That breakthrough could lead the company to produce hard drives with storage capacities of up to 1.2TB on a two-platter, 2.5-in. drive as soon as 2010, noted Joel Hagberg, vice president of business development at Fujitsu Computer Products of America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Fujitsu Ltd. Rock Band Bundle for PS3 Features Wireless Guitar
![]() There's some very interesting news for both PS3 and Xbox 360 owners regarding the upcoming EA/Harmonix title Rock Band. According to the website ars technica, there is big difference between the two versions. Their source is confirming that full bundles for both systems will unfortunately cost a whopping $199.99. This includes the software, the guitar, drum set, and a microphone. Supposedly this behemoth will weigh a massive twenty pounds altogether. The better news for PlayStation 3 owners is that their source is also stating the PS3 version will include a wireless guitar while the Xbox 360 one is going be wired. ![]() There are ten buttons, with the five closest to the body of the guitar being used for solo parts of songs. The button colors are hidden in that they are only painted on the top and bottom of the guitar's neck, so that they are only seen easily by the person playing. |

UT3: PS3 to have more maps than Xbox 360?
![]() Speaking at this year's Edinburgh Interactive Festival, VP of Epic Games Mark Rein indicated that Unreal Tournament III for the Xbox 360 might have to get cut down in order to cope with the limitations of the console's hardware. Answering a question from the crowd about whether disc size would be a problem with an Xbox 360 port, he stated that "We'll compress some things. But you know, we may have fewer maps on the 360 version...Blu-Ray has definitely given us a lot of legroom. And what's really cool is if you think forward and think about what we've done in the past with UT. Source: http://play-beyond.net/2007/08/15/ut3-ps3-...-than-xbox-360/ |

LoL..
EA Tech responds to PS3 Frame limitations Rob M, EA Sports senior technical support director has responded to an e-mail from a gamer which asked why the PS3 version of Madden 08 was technically lagging behind the Xbox 360 version. Rob kindly explained that on the Xbox 360 developers have been creating titles for 'over' 3.5 years, while everyone except Sony has been creating titles for the PS3 for perhaps just over a year. He concludes by saying that it is very difficult to get things right the first time and fully understands if gamers select not to buy the game. QUOTE Thank you for your feedback regarding the issues you've found with Madden NFL 08 for the PlayStation 3 game console. While we fully understand your frustration with the limitations the technology has placed against the video frames per second of the game play on the PlayStation 3 game console, it was out intent to put out the best possible with Madden across 10 platforms. While it is very simple to draw a conclusion based on the end-user experience with the game technology, what most people do not realize is hours of research which goes into fully understanding the hardware demands for each console. In the case of the next-generation consoles, many publishers have been developing titles for the Xbox 360 for over 3 1/2 years while everyone who publishes now for the PlayStation 3 with the exception of Sony has been developing for the PlayStation 3 for only a little over one full year. The differences in the overall knowledge of the hardware is vastly different for both consoles and, as is the case with newer technology, it is very difficult to get it right the first time. As for frame-rate differences, 30 frames per second is the same for all PS 3 football games this year, not just Madden but also NCAA Football, and 2K Sports' offering as well. If you choose not to purchase the game, it is a choice fully understand and respect. Please know that I have passed your feedback and observations on to the game team and hopefully someone within their team will be able to address this matter further. Sincerely, Rob M. PS3 Failure Rate Below 0.2% ![]() According to Chris Deering of Sony Computer Entertainment, the failure rate for the PS3 is extremely low at 0.2%, far below the Xbox 360.The industry standard of 3 to 5% is being handled very nicely by Sony as it seems that they have put out an extremely high-quality and sturdy machine with the PS3 that is not prone to breaking down in any way shape or form. The Xbox 360 on the other hand has been a nightmare in terms of failure rates with the rates up to around 33%. Microsoft spent $1.5 billion to extend the warranty of every Xbox 360 to 3 years and is trying to repair the problems as of this writing as they continue to do so. Deering stated that the failure rate of the PS3 is "around 0.2%." This is amazing compared to the "red ring of death" which has placed so many Xbox 360 consoles in the grave. Apparently Sony is where the quality is at with the PS3. Source: http://play-beyond.net/2007/08/16/ps3-failure-rate-below-02/ |
