Sony Announces PlayTV for PS3
![]() Today Sony announced the PlayTV, a combination dual digital TV tuner and personal video recorder for the Playstation3. The two tuners are HDTV ready, and can handle video up to 1080p.The PlayTV will be available in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain early next year. The digital TV tuner uses the DVB-T format and is built for European use. There's no word whether an ATSC or NTSC version will be released in the US anytime soon. Dark Sector Demo coming this Fall
![]() 1up.com has received confimation that a Dark Sektor demo is currently in the works for both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live between October and November. They're still confirming an exact date with Sony and Microsoft. Dark Sector is a third-person shooter where players assume the role of the protagonist, Hayden Tenno who gains the ability to morph into dramatically different combat forms. Set in the crumbling infrastructure of a fictional Soviet-bloc country in the near future, the game features both single and multi-player action, with players working their way through a world where bio-weapons are no longer science experiments, but a hellish nightmare let loose on an unsuspecting populace. RPGs? Eh..I forgot.. for those who haven't tried FolkSoul/Folklore, you can download the demo (English version) from Europe PSN, but for limited time only until 31st August.
Folklore Demo on Europe PSN for Limited Time Only ![]() Folklore is a unique, dark fantasy adventure inspired by western fairy tales. Set in the mysterious town of Doolin, two strangers, Keats and Ellen, are drawn together to uncover a mysterious legend in a remote village that exists on the border between dreams and reality. Sony released a playable demo on Europe PSN, but it will only be downloadable between August 22nd - 31st. Isabelle Tomatis, Marketing Manager for PSN was understandably enthusiastic: "Folklore is a game we are really excited about and we recognise that not everyone can afford to get to Leipzig. PSN gives us a new way of talking to and rewarding our loyal fans so we have decided for the first time to get them on the inside track with the early release of this demo! We hope they enjoy it and look forward to the feedback." Folklore is created by Game Republic studios, home of Executive Producer Yoshiki Okamoto, creator of Resident Evil. PS3 3D-Gaming In Near Future? ![]() At a recent golfing event here in the US, Mitsubishi took some journalists and asked them to strap some 3D glasses to their face and take a look at the demo of some new 3D-imaging technology the company is working on. All in all, it was reported that the 3D worked quite well. But the big story from the day was that Mitsubishi has a Blu-ray player in its labs that can convert existing 2D movies into 3D on the fly. Even better, the company hinted that it may be available early next yer. Although the company didn't want to talk pricing, it did say that it was in talks with one video game console manufacturer to install this 3D technology into existing systems. Well, I guess everyone knows which console with Blu-Ray technology right now. Hopefully, we can experience Mitsubishi 3D technology on our PS3 in near future. No details released yet for this firmware. Maybe just minor fixes. It was rumoured to fix Warhawk freezing problem.
