Can anyone help me out? I am having trouble getting my center and surround speakers to work when playing DVDS, trailers and such on my PS3. The DVD player/receiver is connected via component to my R7 whereas the PS3 is connected via HDMI. I have thought of using an optical cable but the receive doesn't have one. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
*
It's not the optical cable that's your trouble. The HDMI from your PS3 going into your AV Receiver can process 5.1/7.1, so long as your receiver has the right decoder. For DVDs, that would be Dolby Digital for 5.1 output. (I assume the DVDs are originals with Dolby audio, not .... u know ..... )

Perhaps you need to manually set the input codec for the HDMI-in channel? Or change speaker config to 5.1 for the HDMI-in channel? Sorry can't think of anything else.

Nono, the HDMI doesn't go thru the receiver at all cause it doesn't support HDMI. The DVD receiver is hooked up via Component directly to the TV whereas the PS3 is connected to the TV via HDMI. I got the surround to work on the DVD player/receiver but I just can't get it to work on the PS3. I've tried to set it up on the main menu of the player and tried tinkering with the audio settings on the PS3 and checked almost everything but still no 5.1! If there's no solution I think I'm gonna go return this set. Anything I should look out for if I want 5.1 on the ps3?

Thanks for all the replies btw

Sound good isnt it?

"The 1.82 update is going to add AVC-MP4-H.264 High Profile and this may finally open up AVC-MP4 conversion as the main way to go. And there is better software that will write AVC-MP4-H.264 High Profile at the higher bitrates and 1080p resolution. "

Can you show me a picture of the back of your Pioneer system? Were there any kind of input slots?

For rmbv files, you need to have real media codec in your pc...can you play real media files normally in your pc...if you can there shouldn't be any prob for you....

alternatively, you can download real alternative...which I prefer better than the official real media player/codec...

download it here...

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

I've both on my system and I have no prob converting them....

hope this helps... nod.gif

@rx

What happened actually after you open the file?

There's supposed to be a preview window open? What's the message there?

Added on June 29, 2007, 1:07 amUPDATED

I tried with a movie with rmbv format...it opened fine....hmmm...

If there's an error, usually, there's be a red writings in the preview window...

Are you familiar with Avsynth?
