Can anyone help me out? I am having trouble getting my center and surround speakers to work when playing DVDS, trailers and such on my PS3. The DVD player/receiver is connected via component to my R7 whereas the PS3 is connected via HDMI. I have thought of using an optical cable but the receive doesn't have one. Any ideas? So I have to get a complete new set if I want to have 5.1 on my PS3?

I got this set and still getting used to it :S http://www.pioneermalaysia.com.my/specHTZ252.htm but it doesn't seem to have an optical cable input so how else can I get 5.1 on the PS3? Sorry for all the noobish questions i'm a total noob at HT haha thanks a lot

Nono, the HDMI doesn't go thru the receiver at all cause it doesn't support HDMI. The DVD receiver is hooked up via Component directly to the TV whereas the PS3 is connected to the TV via HDMI. I got the surround to work on the DVD player/receiver but I just can't get it to work on the PS3. I've tried to set it up on the main menu of the player and tried tinkering with the audio settings on the PS3 and checked almost everything but still no 5.1! If there's no solution I think I'm gonna go return this set. Anything I should look out for if I want 5.1 on the ps3?

No such optical input on the receiver at all. Dammit I hope the thing doesn't go to waste.. ahh
