Called Maxis and CS said unable to check with IMEI No. In order to check, must provide account number or the mobile line which I definitely don't have. This evening, I called the seller again and he told me that the supplier gave him Telco set without informing him. Find it hard to believe his story. He even suggest to use Sim 2 for the time being and promise to find a solution for me. Whatever the outcome, I will definitely boycott this unethical shop and will not hesitate to tell my friends and relatives not to buy anything from this shop. If the seller does not give me a satisfactory solution, I will report to Tribunal. Wonder how many people has fallen victim to this shop's antics.

which shop is it? might raise awareness around forumers.

thats why next time dont go those cheap ah beng ah lian stores. go to the authorised stores. would rather maybe a few hundred more to get a buyer assurance rather those small shops where most of them are cheaters

Previously, have always bought Samsung notes from authorised stores or got it under contract with Telco. This time, let my guard down because this shop is registered with MBonus where one can get bonus points and cash rebates. Who know that MBonus is now no more and I ended up being scammed by this seller. I remembered that when I went to the store to buy Note 9, the seller went to collect the note 9 from Samsung authorised store which is just beside the store. Even authorised stores cannot be trusted.

dont bother going to digital mall or any of those small shops. they just cant be trusted no matter how "honest" they talk or look.

just either got to directD if you want slightly cheaper or go to authorised shops or genuine stores like ALL IT or something.

just not the small shops. because think about it, their sales are common to be low. so they'll do anything to survive.

I know that Note 9 are cheaper elsewhere, even can get online at RM2,6xx but got influenced by a friend to join MBonus. And this shop is a registered merchant with MBonus. Any purchases from MBonus's merchants will be entitled to 100% cash rebate which will be given to members progressively. So last year October, I purchased from this shop/store at RM3,299 because of MBonus. If MBonus is still around, I should be getting 100% cash rebate which means that my note 9 would be practically free. But MBonus is no more and I didn't get any rebate at all. So a lesson well learned. Nothing comes free.

Btw sound like u bought the phone and used for few months d but now suddenly sim blocked?
So meaning the handphone shop actually register a postpaid line and took the phone but didnt pay bill so telco blocked it

Nothing is 100% rebate. No matter what memberships or whatever free shits people say. Nothing is free in life. If it's free, then they are selling your data (eg social network sites and the internet moguls) or just a plain scam.

Believable at that time because my friend managed to get back a few thousand ringgit cash rebate from MBonus before it got dissolved. At first, I was sceptical about the 100% cash rebate but was convinced when my friend showed me how he got back the cash rebate from his purchases. Never occurred to me that MBonus would go bust.

Yes, bought in October, 2018 and sim blocked on 22-04-2019. Tried power off and start the phone to no avail. After several failed attempts, I realized that my note 9 is a Telco unit. Seems like the shop did what you said.

Yes, totally agree. In my case, greed got the upper hand. And got blinded by the 100% cash rebate.
The seller said he will try to get my phone unblock by next week. So now I am at his mercy. Anytime my phone could get blocked if whoever fail to make payments for this Telco unit. Imagine paying RM3,299 for all this trouble.

I present my case here so that no one else will ever get scammed by this seller.

Thats why many ppl looking for non-telco units.

I guess the only solution for u is to lodge a report at KPDNHEP they will help u.
If u kept the receipt that is..and if the receipt have written the IMEI, otherwise the shop could twist say u use different phone

only photos and video are important

3. On the next screen, click on "Check SN /Warranty / Carrier" and you can see if the phone is SIM Lock or Open

I have the original bill/receipt with the IMEI No. clearly written on it. No way he can twist and turn.
