And you know, insiders from Telco selling the units and etc. Lotsa reasons la. It's quite a complicated industries with a lot of shady things going on. QUOTE(lawrencek @ Apr 24 2019, 02:34 PM) https://www.imei.info/ Use this link to check if your set is Malaysia version or telco lock. 1 .On dial pad, *#06# and you see the IMEI number 2. go to https://www.imei.info/ and put in the imei number and click CHECK 3. On the next screen, click on "Check SN /Warranty / Carrier" and you can see if the phone is SIM Lock or Open ![]() Strange, from the screenshot my phone is open. Then why sim 1 not allowed? QUOTE(jochin @ Apr 24 2019, 02:03 PM) Yes, totally agree. In my case, greed got the upper hand. And got blinded by the 100% cash rebate. its alright. we all learn from our mistakesThe seller said he will try to get my phone unblock by next week. So now I am at his mercy. Anytime my phone could get blocked if whoever fail to make payments for this Telco unit. Imagine paying RM3,299 for all this trouble. I present my case here so that no one else will ever get scammed by this seller. |

Almost bought a second-hand Note 9 because wanted to save a couple hundred bucks but thanks to a few of those forummer always FFK, I just bought a new one off Shopee. Save the hassle of checking for scratch and defects too.
I probably will stay with new phones to avoid any "unwanted" circumstances. So far my phones are either from pre-order during launch or buy from telco via contract. |

After a while, I think buying new is better.2nd hand price just break 2000 below these few weeks...might get one when note 10 announce 1) Confirm Virgin and have 1 or 2 years warranty 2) Can claim income tax under lifestyle Assume you miss the pre-order and you buy from someone selling the pre-order phone. You lose out the income tax. That fella maybe just want the receipt under his name (he can claim income tax) and he sold the phone you maybe at a bloated price as well (with pre-order freebies) |

QUOTE(lawrencek @ Apr 25 2019, 12:54 AM) Just called Samsung SC in One Utama and CS told me my note 9's Sim 1 is blocked by MCMC since there is a triangle with MM at the top of my phone. MM means MCMC. MCMC block because Telco make a report about the Telco unit owner's failure to make payments. She said that MCMC might also block sim 2 in the long run if payments still not made after sim 1 blocked. This will render my note 9 more or less useless. Only can use WiFi then. To say I'm mad over this is an understatement. Really boiling mad now. Getting ready to report the shop's antics to Tribunal. Must not let this shop continue to scam others. |

Planning to buy note 9 during this coming weekend from lazada/shoppe. Did some research lowest price around RM2480. However box is unsealed for warranty purpose stated by seller. Is it OK tu buy from them, sked part replaced etc. Need advice from fellow fourmmers. Thanks.
