If want choose AMD Ryzen, best price now is model Ryzen 7 1700 and 1700X. Clear stock box sealed set RM6XX.

Unbeatable price.

RM 699 for 1700 and RM 719 for 1700x, both items from Dotatech either in Shopee or Lazada.

Thanks for the heads-up! Great deal for older model... For those worried about budget.

9400f, 2600 or 1700, which one to choose?

If you want to play games, just go with Ryzen 1700 below RM700.
Very good value when paired with B450 motherboard, with upgrade option to Ryzen 3000 series next time, such as 3700x. You probably wont need to upgrade for the next 3 years, depending on what you need to do. Remember to get a good CPU cooler if you plan to overclock, nothing too crazy coz B450 is not a great board to OC with.

For 9400F, you COULD upgrade to 9900k but the prices wont be below RM1000 for the next 3 years, in my opinion.

Yes. The clear stock start from last month.
If you seek in online, there are few seller sell this product. Novopus, Dotatech, E tech etc etc.
But Novopus 1700 1700X most cheap. All below 700. The 1500X from Novopus also very good price (RM3XX) but all sold out on Lazada birthday sale period.

Thanks for the info. I am asking my friend to consider for his first gaming PC... rather than keep buying laptops. I am running 8600k now and I think it is enough for my use.

Will try to survey around, 1700x rm719 without cooler worth?
*
Yeah, it is... Compared to 9400F that is almost rm700

You would benefit from a better cooler too, so usually higher end CPUs don't have cooler included.

How much you going to spend?

Without changing mobo, you can go to i7 6700 or probably with bios update i7 7700.

I'm not sure it's worth it going to 8th or 9th gen since you need different mobo. Not much to gain except extra 2 cores.

Try and see if can flash bios and get the i5 8400 or 9400F then... But I am feeling your board is probably not suited for proper power delivery.

If simple gaming and paired with 1050Ti, the i5-7500 is adequate too. Can find a used one under rm550, I suppose.
