why y730 if i may ask..
besides thunderbolt 3 and rgb..

get y530 better.

cheaper, both same 1050ti.

build quality is decent also although plastic and not aluminium body like y730..

y530 has numeric keypads too.

i dont see how y730 can justify its 1k more price than the y530..

Y730 / Y740 has better cooling even though the cooling solution looks the same (Y530 / Y540 also has good cooling)

Build material also different (if I were to choose, I'll definitely get Y730 TBH, if the price is OK and I have the budget)

But have to admit that Y730 / Y740 is a bit overpriced

Actually because of numberpad also, I do quite alot typing for work and a push left keyboard is not ideal for me. In this price range, the spec, design and cooling is almost perfect for my need.

i see. the good thing is y530 also has full sized keys and not a cramped layout like most gaming laptops.

for y530 vs y730, same specs except for cpu i5 vs i7. the difference is 1k..
if i5 good enough for your usage, i dont see the reason to pay 1k more for thunderbolt 3 (do you even plan to use egpu?), rgb and metal body..

unless you really need the i7 cpu, then its only 200 more than the y530, only then its a considerable choice imo.

yeah i know it has better cooling.
but not to say u need that better cooling as if the y530 cant do its cooling job well in the first place..
(of course if u can get as much cooling as possible that will be the best)

well you get my point then, it all comes down to price.
if unlimited budget i also will choose y730.

Like I said, a bit overpriced (even compared with US prices)

Y530 / Y540 more budget friendly

That's why I said Y530 also has decent cooling (as long as you don't get a lemon heatsink like mine)

New Y740 no need repaste since they include a very good paste out of the box. Not sure about Y540

Yeah price is a big factor

Just put in an order for the Y740. It was the cheapest full 2080 I could get. Hopefully they ship it out soon.

i have been using y740 for the pass few days especially playing aaa games. i dont know what lenovo is tweaking but the thermal/performance for this unit is simply fantastic no joke.

i got this unit during flash sale USD 1480x4.1=rm6000 + rm250tips for friend handling fee. lenovo malaysia is charging rm8k+ for this spec is simply crazy!!

spec i7-8750h, 16gb ram, 256gb pm981, rtx2060 6gb, 144hz gsync screen,thunderbolt as well nice(not many has tb3 within this price range)

among illegear onxy/selenite, slate15, alienware m15, asus scar II, msi ge63 in the end i picked y740 no regrets

you got it with flash sale in US. and you compare with rrp price in MYR. notwithstanding US definitely will be cheaper, etc..
so not really fair to compare in the first place..

if you use 15% student discount, its about 7.3k myr from original price of 8.6k.

anyway, looks like a good deal you got since you have a friend to help you buy it from US.
what about warranty, etc? is it international and any problems you can refer back to lenovo MY?

Hope you will not be disappointed after contacting Lenovo Malaysia. Previously they told me for Legion models no international warranty will be covered/honored in Malaysia.

Yeah it's the 17" model.

I got it from the AU store. With a student discount. Without tax I think it cost me 3200 AUD.

Comes with 1tb HDD and a Samsung 512gb SSD, Windows 10 pro. So not too bad lah all in all. Can't find the same spec anywhere else for the price.

I'm only hoping that the cooling system is good enough to give some overclocking headroom.

1~2 weeks.

but when you are at customizing page and it says 4 weeks, then maybe yours is 4 weeks as they might be having shortages right now..
see the user buying y730 earlier.

QUOTE(hong3831 @ Mar 15 2019, 02:14 PM)
They just inform due to serious shortage of part.
Din even contact me about the situation, just self update the lead time until I check the order.
Sigh, got to look for other model as my current laptop already have buyer.
