Does lower risk index generate lower return over the long run?

Depends on market conditions in the long run. But under very normal circumstances, yes.

I did. And it was my last bullet for this month.

When the market is volatile, switch to lower risk index to reduce drastic swing to your holdings. Conservative or moderate risk generally outperforms high risk during volatility and also to protect your capital.

When market is stable, switch back to higher risk index to maximize your gains.

If you are not sensitive to market conditions or doesn't know how to balance your portfolio, just stick to moderate risk.

Doesn't matter, still sticking to the DCA plan since 2017. 18% with healthy holding of fixed income should be good cushion for bumpy journey ahead.

I normally do DCA monthly, so shouldn't be bothered by the recent turn of the market. But recently I made a one time lump sum deposit of a slightly larger sum due to received annual bonus... And now seeing my returns dropped from 10.8% to 4.3% in two days...
