Yeah I understand that. The main reason I’m a bit hesitant to buy ETFs directly is because of the brokerage or transaction fees. I currently use FSMOne to buy US a counters and the fee is minimum USD8.80, which feels like quite a sum if I were to DCA every couple of weeks. So for now I’ll continue to trust SA to select the best ETFs for me while I DCA regularly/blindly, and their management fees are lower than unit trust funds which is a plus.
*
Thats not really trusting SA though, thats choosing a platform based on fees.

will it be applicable to ONLY the NEWly deposited money and NOT the existing amount in SA?
in your example,...only that RM1?

This time the promo code explicitly says fresh funds. DRJASON previously did not explicitly state fresh funds.

Is DCA really effective?

I have been doing manual debit monthly... Only now start reading this thread people talk about DCA on SA...
*
Define effective? Effective for what purpose?
If its to maximize profit. DCA cant do that. DCA is just to minimise the possibility of entering the market at the worst possibly timing.

so quiet when the market/samy is doing pretty well.

recovered to my previous high (in gain) already.
*
if many comment that then there will be those people come and say samy dropped so much already, up a little then so happy. whistling.gif
anyway, most people dont care what samy do when it goes up, they only start caring when it goes down.
If remembered right, there were a few people at least who straight out just said they didnt bother reading what was offered in samy, they just expect it to do well but can't believe it was doing "badly compared to Wahed" or something like that.
Anyway, cheers that its going back up thumbup.gif

Hi all, I received an email from Stashaway support asking me for documents in order to verify my source of funds. Is this normal? Does this happened to you guys before?
*
Someone posted before, apparently its because they suddenly lumpsum deposit a huge amount that was not consistent with their past history.
Did you just lumpsum deposit a huge amount compared to your past deposit?
They just had to call up and clarify... according to one of the comments.

Mine is not flexible portfolio (0.3% is for flexible portfolio. Even thematic portfolio doesn't have the 0.3%). Mine is original % risk index portfolio that was created by Stashaway Malaysia when it first started. Only can choose the % risk and nothing else. So I don't even know how many ETFs are in the portfolio. Looking at the asset class, it just tells you the general locality  or types of assets it holds in %. Don't tell you the specifics.. That's why after Medufsaid replid and I think a bit, I think mine is just based on general % based on $ amount invested
*
It actually does tell you what ETFs your portfolio has though...you gotta click into it.

Since the implementation of 0.3% fee for single ETFs (flexible portfolio), does anyone know if if this is cheaper than purchasing them from Rakuten?

Currently using Rakuten to purchase individual US ETFs but UI/UX is not as good as SA and many don't take into consideration that there is a buy/sell spread when converting MYR to USD on top of the usual buying and selling fees

Thank you!
*
Small amount DCA consider SA flexible, decent size lump sum per quarter or per year consider Rakuten

4th anniversary  with SAMY.

Annual returns less than 3% laugh.gif

withdraw all and put in FD better?
*
no one knows, average returns per year over a 10 year period are sometimes concentrated gains in a few years only.
Up to you to decide your own strategy.
Maybe consider the flexible portfolio if you dont like the default SA portfolios.

Does anyone know whether the 0.3% fees for flexible portfolio includes the expense ratio of ETF?

For example if I buy ISAC (expense ratio 0.2%), does the 0.3% already inclusive of the 0.2% expense ratio by ISAC, which means stashaway takes 0.1%

Or it is 0.3% on top of what ISAC charges, which is 0.2% + 0.3%?
I know it's not simple direct addition but I'll just do that here to keep the example simple.
*
If not mistaken, the ETF expense ratio is already reflected in its share price.
0.3% is standalone stashaway fees which they will show the deduction in your monthly statement.

Can I withdraw SRI26 & 36 to RHB MCA so they don't charge the 0.1% conversion fee by Citi? Or they'll charge twice - convert USD-MYR-USD
*
Based on their website, twice..

Don't need to argue actually.
Started using SA in 2019, still using it now.
Those who don't like can go other platforms, those who are okay are still using it.
Not everyone wants to maximize cost savings by using the "cheapest" platform.
Not only investment assets can be diversified, broker/platform risk can be diversified too.
