so you automate a some to be invested to your portfolios based on a ratio?

I think the more frequent it is, the better it is right?

On the other hand, for FSM UT, i usually do it lump sum and it depends because some period has no sales charge or lesser sales charge.

Thinking how to do DCA automatically for UT if my portfolio consist more than one UT

Yes weekly is better considering how volatile the economy currently is. every week macam got different news affecting the markets.

Agreed.

But like I said I am thinking how to DCA for FSM UT. I have invested since 2017 and my current returns based on my portfolio is about 4% only.

seems very sad
*
it's impossible to DCA with FSM UT because the sales charge per transaction is high, so unless you are DCA-ing thousands of ringgit at once otherwise it will hurt your earnings.

With SA you can do DCA RM 100 everyday or few times in one day also no problem.

4% is good. Some even lose money for UT. But the agents always win.

QUOTE(Syncing @ Feb 19 2020, 11:33 AM)
I have never invested in UT before but I'm planning to, however I don't quite understand the impact of sales charge if you put a lump sum vs DCA.

Scenario 1 :
Putting in 10k lump sum with 1.75% sales charge.
Total sales charge paid = RM175

Scenario 2 :
DCA 10k in 10 months with 1.75% sales charge.
One month sales charge paid = 1.75% of 1k = 17.50
After ten months, total sales charges paid = RM175

Hence, it doesn't matter whether you lump sum or DCA, in the end the sales charges paid are the same. Of course, annual management fees would be different in two of those scenarios.

Can someone tell me if I'm wrong or right?
*
that's if you have 10k to begin with. some UT have different sales charges for small and big amounts also. not too sure about FSM.

I know this sounds stupid/oversimplify/no0b.. but assuming roboadvisers would rebalance holdings depending in the market situation... so all drops in current port is very temporary?

that is the idea behind getting robots to do the investing, because they can crunch data like super terror?
*
the drop across the world is due to Covid-19 uncertainties. There is nothing to rebalance lol. unless they want to put more allocation for safe heavens.

QUOTE(watabakiu @ Feb 26 2020, 10:34 PM)
let say DCA is the way to go... what about the excess money? keep in savings account where it don't generate anything?
*
what do you mean by excess money?

excess money available for discretionary use. was trying to understand why DCA is the preferred method for investing in SAMY.

say got 1k, and if one choose to DCA 100/month, the balance of the money go where?

some1 mentioned invest in other place, but let say that SAMY is the only place one invests... shouldnt lump sum be better?
*
Just invest everything. 250/week. Or you can do 1000 every month up to you.

Not sure if this is a mini recession or the start of an actual recession cause, I myself have been waiting for one. Wondering if I should cash out now and wait till it drops more before reinvesting it back.

So far.. I'm broke even. No loss, no gain.
*
then just hold lor.

now the best time to buy. all cheaper. only shitty part is USD also high so we can't capatalise much.

And I have been following with the vaccine development
Afaik, there's no further breakthrough and no successful clinical trial yet.

vaccines will only hit the market years after the pandemic has subsided so don't bet on it. same like H1N1

i just registered an account as SA, since i read the last few posts, some members investment already go into negative territories, can i say now it is not a good time to invest in SA? if i want to invest now, what risk profile i should choose so i still can make money? Or i should hold my cash and let the dust settle down(corona virus and etc)  only start to invest?
*
go lowest risk profile lor. confirm won't lose money and hardly any volatality.

i noticed equity allocation is heavily biased to america.

is it possible to tweak the allocation by region ? i wish to have more exposure to asia.

In that case you can try MyTheo. They focus more on Asia and Europe.

the big question is

has it bottomed out already,  or am i gonna catch a falling knife?
*
can just DCA je. good thing about ETF eventhough if drop the impact is still much smaller compared to buying the stocks directly.
