I can't find where I read it. Is something to do with the fees you will be paying in an annual basis.

Thanks

I anticipated that you would ask, so I experimented. Just for you!

The below is based on what I can see in the App, which may not reflect when the activities were actually completed.

15/7 Initiated Withdrawal
16/7 Sell Order Complete
18/7 Currency Conversion and Withdrawal Complete
19/7 Masuk Bank Account (Friday late evening)

Know
Your
Customer

Basically they just want to know that the person that they are dealing with is really you and not someone else pretending to be you. Just like traditional banks, they all have KYC measures in place.
*
Yup correct.

They called me to confirm, and asked me to email them my bank details.

Just asking,
In forex when you feel the market going down, u can place sell position (u get profit when it goes down). So can SA also do that or you only buy and expect the market to always go higher.
Sorry I'm newbie to this investment thing. I'm planning to DCA anyway but @karweng question makes me think.
*
Nope, there is no Put Option, if that is what you are referring to.

Hi all Sifu / SA investors,

I am new to this Stashaway Malaysia (“SA”), appreciate anyone can provide me the referral promo code. Thank you in advance . Want to try test invest in SA starting in small amount.

I had read thru this Lowyat Forum until page 55, not sure have you guys discuss on the issue below or not and it also one of my question.

I read thru SA website FAQ regarding the safety of the invertors’ money in SA. Below statement were copies from SA website.

Question : The above statement is it proven ? To prevent SA took the investor money and run away ? As I know that SA also mention it regulated by Securities Commission Malaysia.

Appreciate your comments and sharing.

Thank you.
*
Yes SA is regulated by SC. They cannot run away with your money. SA is issued a DIM license by SC as per many newspaper reports, including the edge. It is also mentioned in SC's 2018 annual report. It is not a get rich quick scheme.

As always, if ever in doubt, contact SC directly.

New app update for Android. Not sure about iOS. Better Settings panel and options. Fingerprint unlock is a nice addition.

Fingerprint unlock was around since a long time ago for Android though.

Hi all, I invested a hefty lump-sum amount about 3 weeks ago as I didn't know about DCA before that (oops!). Obviously been making slight losses due to market trend since then. Should I withdraw everything and start DCA? Or leave it?
🤔🤔🤔
*
I would sy: Just leave it be and DCA from now onwards.

Wait, is this your entire savings?

If so, I would personally leave just half in there.

Hi, I've noticed that the OTP for my StashAway account login was received from these numbers: 0175932870 and 0176312950 instead of the regular 63001. Is this all right? Getting a bit paranoid here  sweat.gif

huh that is weird.

Actually what is DCA and what does it mean with Stashaway?
*
Dollar cost averaging.

Aka deposit consistently, every week/month/quarter.

As opposed to lump sum.

Hi.  I'm thinking to start Stashaway investment. I have little knowledge on investing so I'm attracted to robo-advisor investment.  I hold about 90% cash/FD and 10% MREITs - Want to start diversifying in a foreign currency plus reap the benefits of DCA and compounding over the long term.  Financial goal is the usual - protect or grow my savings for retirement, financial freedom.  So Stashaway should fit my needs right?

I have below questions, appreciate if anyone can advise!  I haven't register with Stashaway yet so if any of these questions would be covered by their profiling/KYC/recommendation process, sorry in advance and sorry for the long post.  The Stashaway website was not helpful in providing a newbie/starter guide.
Also, please leave or PM me a referal link.

1. Would you advise starting now?  There were some who commented the market is quite high and considering pulling off.

2. Besides below fees from SA site, is there other to be aware of?  Such as fund transfer fee?
- Annual management fee (0.2% to 0.8% per annum)
- Currency conversion fee (0.1%)
- ETF fee (approx 0.2% per annum)

3. How to determine the right RM amount to DCA and the DCA period (bi-weekly, weekly, monthly..)?
Like is there a formula or general guideline, any minimum threshold so that the returns are not eaten up by the fees of DCA transactions and the likes.

4. Need to declare these in income tax?  For both US and Malaysia tax.  I gather that:
- Withholding tax on stocks dividend is already deducted at source at US
- Capital gain is not taxable in US (for non-resident alien) as well in Malaysia
I believe part of the registration process with Stashaway will be to sign any tax related form like W8-BEN?  Apart from signing W8-BEN form, all else will be handled by the exchange/broker and I don't need to declare when filing taxes?

5. Any advise for a newbie?  Like a lesson learnt or something you wish you knew when starting.

Thank you!

1. Sure, now is still a good time to start. Market valuation may be arguably high now, but it is still a good time to be exposed to the market. You can start with the conservative end of the risk profile first, they are more bond heavy, rather than equity.

2. No additional fees apart from what you listed.

3. No minimum threshold afaik. Some guys just put in RM100-500. Unsure if they use a specific formula, but I think most people just deposit whatever they want to save.

4. You pretty much covered all the tax portions, nothing more to it.

5. Nope, it is a very plug-and-play product. It's daily reporting time, as well as deposit/withdrawal time varies/is consistent, but that's about it.
