I can't seem to get the right information on this specific questions.

Assuming i am on zerolution 360 plan.

1) I have ended my 24 months contract. At this point, i have not decided to take up a new device - assume that i am not interested to upgrade yet.

Referring to SSTC clause 9a, i am allowed to keep the device BUT it is not made known if i will be billed for the device fee on the 25th month onward. Although, logically i shouldn't. Also, it states that I will continue paying under "Zerolution 360", in Maxis' terms, Zerolution 360 mean Maxis ONE plan + device. This will mean that on 25th month onward I'll be paying plan + device fee still?

Same logic goes to Maxis ONE Prime, which refers to Maxis ONE plan + home fibre combo. Can we get some clarification?

2) with reference to the above, under clause 19, states that failure to return the device upon expiry of the said contract, i will be charged a certain fee. Why is this contradicting with clause 9a? does this mean all subscribers of the 360 are actually forced to take up a new device every 24 months (whether the person has found a preferred new device) in order to avoid the fees?

3) According to soyacincau blog post here, there is also a nominal fee for those who wish to keep the device, however there isnt more information about this on the website/faq/sstc.

This is a very shady terms and i have made several calls to 123 to inquire, i receive different answers on this.

If you return the device once your contract reached 24 months, they won't charge you anymore but if you did not return the device, you will still be charge until you visit Maxis Centre to return the device. If you decided to keep the device, there will be one-time fee that you need to pay to keep the device and they will stop the monthly charges as well

Called 123 and this isn't what I was told. I was told clause 19 only applies to those who are out of contract who terminates/port out without returning the device.

If it is a nominal fee as per soyacincau to keep the device, that's fair but it isn't stated any where.

I too have a question about Zerolution, the regular one. If I am on Zerolution and I have 2 bills to go to finish the 24-month contract for the S8+, how soon before the contract ends can I get a new phone.

On your 24th month contract can apply. No need to complete the final month as i was told.

In short, when your 23rd bill is out, you pay immediately can recontract right away.

Edit: a friend just mentioned and it made sense, the penalty for early recontract is reduced every 3 months. By right on 22nd month onward there isn't a fee already...

Clause 19 is for those who do not want to continue to pay for the monthly commitment after 24 months(terminating the service) and do not want to return the device. They will charge the non-return device fee immediately.

If you don't return the device AND not terminating the service, they will still charge you the commitment fee as per usual even after 24 months

You can refer to their FAQ here: https://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/devices/ownership.html#

The contract should have 1 month or less for Zerolution to recontract to another device

Yet again that doesn't answer my question.

Zerolution 360 is a 'package' where it comes as mobile plan and a device together. Based on the SSTC, I have to continue paying the zero360 fees even after expiry of the contract (not renewing nor terminating).

So my question is, as also said by you that they'll continue charging the commitment fee, the "commitment fee" here meaning mobile plan (Maxis ONE plan 128/158/188) only or mobile plan+device fee after the 24 months period?

I know it's ridiculous for them to continue charging the device fee but that's what it meant here in the SSTC. I'm sure Maxis reps are aware of this thread but they could be checking with their product owners and/or legal team before responding.

They will still charge as above as usual if you did not inform them to terminate the Z360 plan

Here's another question, what if I get a new zerolution phone, and I finished the payment for the phone in 12 months instead of 24 months, can I another phone?

Hi san_098,

As long as you have subscribe it with zerolution upgrade fees under zerolution 360. With this, you can upgrade to a new phone at 12th month.

Thank you.

Zerolution 360 is basically a rental program. Once your 24 months contract is up you have a choice to terminate the service and return the phone to Maxis or return the device and continue with the service with your own device in which you are no longer in contract.

If you decide to continue using the device with the current plan without contract in which they will still charge you for the device + data plan.

If you want to keep the device after contract but not wanting to pay the fee, you will have to pay them an exuberant one time fee in which is calculated on device remaining balance charge + an additional fee of 25% of the Device Recommended Retail Price (RRP) at the time of your subscription to the Plan(s) + additional administration charges.

In which case the contract is not actually 24 months for the device. It's ongoing as long as you hold on to the device. You're only tied to the plan for 24 months but you're still liable to pay for plan & device price for until you return it.

The SSTC doesn't state so or at least, I wasn't told this. I was told I only pay plan price after 24th month. While clause 19 applies only to those who want to keep the device at the end of the contract.

The purpose of the contract in this case is to lock you in on paying the agreed charges on the device and plan for 24 months. During the contract period if you decide to skip out early, you will be liable to pay the penalty for ending the contract prematurely, and the device will need to return to Maxis.

Whoever explained to you is wrong or does not fully understand the T&C. Regardless its at the end of the contract or you ending it prematurely, as long as you are keeping the device you are liable to pay the charges that Maxis has set out.

Like I have mentioned this is a rental program, you will never own the device. You can upgrade to a new device but you cannot keep the old device because all these while you are only paying the rental fee for the device.

On the other hand, the Zerolution plan you are actually paying installment on the device. You will get to keep the phone regardless of contract expire or you ending it prematurely.

Zerolution 360 is a rental programand Zerolution is an installment program.

Sounds about right. But until now maxis still hasn't confirmed on this. Most whom I spoke to did not mention what you've mentioned about the charges. I'm actually pretty much set and already have the answer but I would like maxis to confirm what their tnc is.

You will never get a straight answer out of them. I know becsuse I was in the same situation. Everything stated in the T&C is quite clear, but those so called Maxis customer service seems to be not very familiar with it and giving all the wrong information.

I'm stuck in the zerolution 360 its because at the time it wasnt explain to me and im having the impression that its the premium version of zerolution where you get added insurance and yearly upgrade. I signed up purely for the insurance benefit, at the time the rep didnt even explain to me. Had I know about the T&C on the device I would have go with zerolution instead. I only found out about it after reading through the whole T&C which the customer service couldnt even explainto me on the phone. I went back to the Maxis centre and confront the rep, although he insisted that he did explain to me, which he didnt cause i was in and out of there less than 5 min...which is not enough time for him to explain anything to me at all. I knew it was pointless to argue with him so I just cited the T&C to him and he concurred.

So yah, you dont need Maxis confirmation on this. You are already well aware how it is going to go down. Trust yourself. Maxis is no different than any other scumbag service providers, there are out to get your money in any way possible. They will never be on the losing end, only the consumers will always get the shittiest end of the deal. Their marketing is all bullshit. Just trust your own judgement.

Spot on. I was contacted by one of their reps. They also agreed when I said the two clauses are not precise enough. Pending product owners to make amendments to the SSTC or something now before they reply in this thread officially.
