beercan is not overpriced based on the demands..no lens as sharp as this unless u are prepare to pay more than 3-4k for the lens.

oh yeah, it did produce a very nice bokeh

i heard u guys toking bout beercan.. but din look at one myself..what kind of lens is it? i know it look like beercan.. sm1 mind to explain

Minolta 70-210 F/4, one of the sharp lens that Minolta ever produced. Sharp even at wide open!!

If I would like to sell this lens.... anyone want to buy it ?

woa ...so this is how beercan looks like... a minolta lens Why is it so long though only until 210 mm... looks ugly la.. but good? better than kit lens 70-300mm?

lol, it did looked ugly but the image quality definitely not. It is long, the zooming mechanism doesn't made the lens shorter or longer..and it is quite heavy.

Kit lens 70-300mm? I would said even Nikkor 70-300mm VR or Canon 70-200 F4 also no match and i ain't fanboy. Maybe a Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 yes, but that cost u a bomb

woo c'not tahan la, my hand itchy dah nie...this 2 years only spend my time on a digi cam..a sony to (5.1mp, DCS-W5) it have serve me well, dropped it a few times, kena air...still going strong..

I think you should be getting the flash light first before grabbing anpther lens, since you'll have two lenses at your dispose already. Try not to rush in getting lens or you'll not have time to fully utilize all your lens and not knowing their pros and cons of a particular lens. Just my 2 cents!

Here's my suggestion.

Get the basic kit lens (A100 + 18-70mm). Try survey around for the cheapest price. I've seen somebody in Lelong selling for RM2200 brand new, so probably you could bargain around that price. If you buy from Sony Style, it'll cost you more expensive at RM2999 (with 4GB memory stick if the promo is still on). Quite a difference there.

Then, you might wanna look for Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG, it does macro at 1:2 magnification ratio. It's a tad expensive than Tamron, but better image quality. You can get it from Shashinki.com or from our fellow forumer siewkahhow here. The price is about RM850 more or less.

tpi soulfly...ive already bought the twin kits lens, ordered it 3 days ago...aiyo ..if i sell the 70 - 300 alpha kit, ada harga ka??n im doing sum research on choices of lenses. i'll update u guys if anything.hem rgarding from wut "pac1" said...y im thinking of getting n xtra lens, cuz i hef xtra after buying this baby...im the type of prson who cnot hold duit lame2...u know wat i mean , later go to cinema la, jalan2, shopping..
