30mm f1.4 is much more expensive than 50mm f1.4 sweat.gif

Added on October 24, 2007, 7:28 pm
i shoot portrait more than landscape, hence i don't have any much need for wide angle. but the tamron seems to be a good all-rounder lens compare to the kit lens with it's f2.8 aperture, good for low-light situation.

got any other suggestion for lens that has nice OOF for portrait?
*
If you din have any need for wide angle, then you can consider the Tamron 28-75mm, f/2.8 also and with longer zoom will give you quite nice bokeh for potrait also. biggrin.gif

What r d 18-200mm lens u r toking about? by other brand? is it better? donno much bout lens yet...

Can anyone tell me.. whats d approximately zoom did 200mm n 300 mm lens  do? I can hardly imaging how much zoom it is.. If taking animal, Birds etc.. will 200mm be sufficient? or watching concert taking artist photos?

Raven when r u going to get ur A700? thinking to get in mid valley too? Im suprise most of d time best deal we can find on electronic items r in Sg wang/low yat.. but for this particular Sony.. Midvalley cheapest...

Heard bout pudu there ...not sure where is it.. oso got selling cheap camera.. ?
*
Sony also got their own 18-200 lens mah. But I not sure how's the quality of it. If can, better ask an experience friend or someone who is familiar with DSLR and the best is with someone who also know the camera shop owner, so you can get better deal + more free gifts and have someone to check with you thoroughly the condition of the camera that you gonna buy. I've heard a lot that the YL camera at Pudu there quite good woh. Not sure though, never been there before. Well, congrates to you in diving into the world of poison, DSLR! laugh.gif

hey Pac1, nah i'm not an experienced photographer, i'm still fresh in this whole DSLR thing. Still have a lot to learn. Learn from any sifu i can find. i'm in the broadcasting line, so got a lot of photographers to learn things from
*
Yeah, I know there's always new things to learn. As the old saying, "eat till old, learn till old". Just you are at intermediate level while I'm still an amateur and I'm so envy of you to have so many chances to practice. Lets learn together and I'm hoping to learn from you too! thumbup.gif

i'll probably do this, i will offer one (yes only one) spot for a photographer to come together with me to take pictures should there be any wedding shows that i need to host/plan/shoot. I'll only take Alpha Shooters. that way you'll be able to practice. Weddings are the best place for you to practice on capturing the right moment. i still find it hard to do! lol
*
Wow, hearing you said that, I sure hope I'm an Alpha user now! Yeah, wedding is obviously the best place to practice, must have the right settings, right lighting and at the right moment to cover the whole wedding event. Not many chances to shoot weddings though. cry.gif

oops, sorry if i sounded a lil arrogant, i think it isn't fair to take only Sony Alpha Users, everyone can come. I have an event coming up on the 6th and 7th, and 10th of November which are entertainment industry related. might open up for people to come and shoot.

one of the events involves an American Artiste coming down. interested participants pls reply to this thread soon.
*
Oh, man, I wish I'm back in Peninsular, so I can attend the event. cry.gif
Hope others wont miss this chance to attend the event and learn to shoot from the master here! thumbup.gif

Don congrats me too early.. Who knows I might change mind suddenly again like last time... thought i 99% will get Eos 400D oredi....then get influence by YOU, n bcome ALPHA.. Mayb I'll get Influence by the DARK SIDE (NIKON- y nikon is darkside le?) n get D40...lol. hehehe
*
Before this, there's just Canon and Nikon, as the other camera like Olympus, Pentax and Sony still havent quite establish in DSLR. Due to Canon having so much luxurious white L lenses, therefore its called the White or Bright side, so on the other hand, Nikon which the only one competing with Canon is called the Darkside! icon_rolleyes.gif
