This is my journey, started with

VIP 5Mbps -> 10Mbps -> 30Mbps -> 300Mbps

I didn't upgrade on my own, it was all free/bonus . I thought I had somehow missed the 100Mbps.
*
U did not experience 100 becos u started with 5 and got all free upgradezs

There are many like this... 10->30->50->100->800.

Not all free.. paid a bit more for 50->100.

ok someone might have the issue i'm facing now before, but here goes.

was on astro iptv with maxis 10 mbps, which was then terminated.
after around 2 weeks, wanted to apply for unifi/maxis, got told port not available.
asked maxis, why is that, they told me to refer to TM cos they're on TM's fiber.
asked TM to clarify why the port is closed/not available, they keep copypasting bulls**t non-answers, saying coverage has not reached my area (bulls**t cos my neighbour is on unifi).
so it's been 3 months now. more or less given up, at this point i just want to know what happened to the port (which TM refuses to answer). can anyone provide any enlightenment on this? thanks.

unifi ports are in great demand, usually long Q for it.

if u r not on the Q, no chance at all.

So far stream TV BOX all ok ? TIME offering me 500mbps. I wondering to take or not.
My concern is TV BOX only...
*
Ònline streaming with box doesnt need high speed.

Netflix 4k ask for 25mbps only.

Your concern should not be about high sped but the box and app itself.

Good box, good apps, good connection, there is no problem.

Bad box, bad apps, bad connection... yes, will see disconnection, this down, that lag, this cant get, that hang.

Box n apps discussions.... plenty in other threads.

This been around for 8 years at least, plenty of experienced users now.

whatever u do, dun expect great wifi results with 100mbps in 3 storey house.

for a tall house, u gotta get higher speed b4 u do anything else.

if not, u end up wasting $.

Guys , I'm having a weird situation with my connection. Having Unifi 800mbps connection,  using Asus rt 55uhp with my Huawei btu.both are placed on 1st floor.. Able to clock full speed on my desktop which is co , nnected via cat 7 cable ..my sharp Android TV  which supports AC wifi , able to clock 115 - 120 Mbps when perform speed test.  Netflix on my TV  is playing fine..it require around 10 seconds max to load the full quality....

My other streaming apps like hotstar and Kodi do buffers  a little ..

So I'm thinking if I should upgrade to a better router or 100 + Mbps is good enough for the streaming..

Need your input on this..

Btw I tested the same apps using my OnePlus 6t hotspot.. Android TV connected to OnePlus 6t hotspot , I noticed the performance is slight better
*
a better router will surely improve wifi speed.

meanwhile, i think there is a beta firmware if u haven't tried.

i used it for my router, can get 2xx for a similar sharp tv.

but the page expired... ask asusmy here:

hi all,

recently my unifi just upgraded to turboed 500Mbps however still find that its slow. using tm unifi router Archer C1200.... all the while using their router no issue, after upgrade to turbo find out that its even slower than before upgrade. Also when call them to come out to troubleshoot, they charge RM53 just to step into my home and check the modem and 5 mins job but still no difference.. .wah lau....
*
so, they changed nothing in the end?

u got charged most likely becos technician came n tested with their own laptop with lan cable, got 500mbps.
guess they showed u the result, right?
so, they conclude it is not their equipment problem.
when u called them to come, u were likely told beforehand u will be charged if there is no problem with TM equipment.

many users are not aware that the promised speed is only for ethernet/cable, not wifi.
wifi, it depends a lot on what device(s) u use... older handphones, pcs, etc cannot get >300.

Yeah.. you are right.. use their laptop test very fast... can get almost 200mbps speed for upload and 100+ for download. they show me its not their equipment prob.... i tested using my laptop also same speed. however my wife always complain slow when she access using her laptop via wifi cause she watches korean movie streaming  confused.gif  confused.gif

So far, i don't stream movies... i use basic stuff, check emails, fb, instagram, surf web speed so far ok for me. i tried torrent download games / movies the speed is quite fast compare to before it was upgraded to turbo.

oh i am not aware needs to be charged, all the while before upgrading it to turbo i did ask tm come and check several times its FOC. i don't know why this time they charge. crazy... RM55 for just less than 20 mins job... not worth it. they test they did, i also can do the same.... cry.gif
*
the router u have CAN do 500mbps wired.
i had it before can even do 800 mbps wired.
many routers can do that, not a big issue.

wifi is the common complaint.
read other wifi threads, been discussed over n over.
how much u get depends on both the router and yr device.
sifus can explain to u in detail but i will simply say yr router can do max 300mbps wifi only at short distance 5ghz.
longer distance or 2.4ghz, u likely get 20-50 only.
and that is not too bad for most purposes.
if u want higher wifi speeds, u need to spend $ on new router and even change your devices.

online streaming of common videos does not require high speeds, 30mbps is more than enough.
yr wifey laptop... check if needs a usb ac adaptor (rm50-150) to do 5ghz.
once u have that, it will improve.
my pc fitted with such an adaptor can do up to 300mbps 5ghz at 50ft.
another box 50ft away can get 50mbps 2.4ghz, stream all korean or chinese stuff smoothly.

Nowadays the router is quite expensive one..
I believe still can modified one, just I'm not sure the way to modified..

Not so fast to invest the new router.. It will cause my wallet pain if just install unifi and again purchase router.. Somemore need to purchase android tv box..
*
quite true... so many things to buy... router, tv box, phone, tablet, tv, headphones...!! laugh.gif

yeah gotta prioritise what u need... router can be rm400, can be 1.4k; android box can be rm120 or 1.2k!

what is the max download speed for unifi 500mbps?

My average download speed only 10mb per second. theoretically, it suppose to hit 50mb per second? does it related to router, pc or other setting?

Some torrent able to get 15mb max.

My cable cat 6
*
u r unclear with mbps or MBps... bits vs bytes.

15MBps is not too shabby if wifi since it depends on many things.

ethernet, u can get up to 40MBps, if not higher - my experience.

It has a repeater mode as an option in the internet settings drop down menu, what does that do?
*
Someone in d850 thread said d842 has version a, b.

My unit doesnt hv it, no repeater mode... now idle in the drawer.

Anyway, from all i read, version a or b, i hv not read any report saying d842 can do repeater function.

If u r successful, please report loud!!

I personally haven't seen it but heard Rev B has the Repeater Mode while Rev A doesn't. Could also be the other way around. What HW revisions are yours?
*
Dir842... i just took a look.. at the box in the drawer... says h/w c2, firmware 3.01TM.

Original from tm, dec 2018, used 48 hours only.

No repeater mode, i tried.. and i asked, dlink man in his thread said no repeater.

Thats why i gave up, put in drawer.

Anybody want to buy? tongue.gif

Guys, am using Asus AC5300. On unifi 800mbps. On Alcatel Lucent I240G

Changed cable to ugreen Cat 6.

But the maximum speed i get on Lan is mere 400++.

I complaint to TM chat last week they said will reset port and ask to monitor. Still no improvement.
*
common experience...

it's about the device used on lan to test... hardware, antivirus, firewalls, windows...

the poorer ones 400, 500.

better ones 600, 700.

i got a new box that gets 860! rclxms.gif

test with diff devices, old n new, see how.

you dont need dedicated AP function for it to function.
manually set it to off DCHP, broadcast same SSID.
Plug in the LAN cable to LAN 1-4. settle.
Been doing this for DIR-868L
*
interesting, can u describe the step in a bit more detail - as REPEATER, not AP?

plug cable from what to what?

can it do repeater function for 5ghz?

To use any router as switch/access point, disable DHCP and change IP to something different from main router but in same subnet. Example, main router 192.168.1.1 then this router set to 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.254. Then connect Ethernet cable from main router LAN port 1 to this router LAN port 1. You can then use ports 2-4 to connect to other devices and the Wi-Fi will work too.
*
AP... that i understand.

i was talking about REPEATER, i.e. wifi, not cable/LAN.

still interested if someone knows how to do use DLin DIR842 as REPEATER.

Baru keluar, already most popular!?!? Got 100 free movies some more. But 199.
STB, Ultimate Pack, STD20, 100 VOD movies.
Predictions for 800Mbps? RM239?
*
how disappointing... i had expected 140, 159.

but i guess they can still claim "double speed, half price" is satisfied - for some users.
