It is take time to take out the hardward and plug it into a new casing sweat.gif

Me??Nope...I still interested in my I - Cute though...Not thinkin of changing...For me,I would rather use the money to upgrade hardwares inside my system than toping - up to change casing...
*
I use a Icute casing b4, 0402L, if not mistaken.
It cause my about RM175 including PSU.

but... After i change to CM 5, my processor and motherboard temperature drop 6-7 C , then only i saw the different.

i dont know how good ah lian is, but i think good casing really can help in decreasing the hardware temperature. smile.gif

Yess...I agree with u bro Darnell...But the price of Ah Lian & Mr CM here is more expensive than I - Cute...Instead of spend money buyin a new casing, would reccomanded for us to upgrade the CPU & chasis fan to a better one...I think it would help more than Ah Lian or CM casing would do in temperature control..Correct me if Im wrong with this info...Thanx..
*
yaya.. Agree about that.. smile.gif for save budget, Icute is nice enough.

Some more I-cute casing come with power supply(enough for normal rig d) , that is why that time i bought my Icute 0402L.

Hmm, i would slightly disagree with you guys there. You upgrade your hardware frequently but not the case, a good case will last you a very long time, like my good old enlight had served me around 7-8 years, if not because of the airflow limitations, i might not consider changing.

While for ah lians, the airflow should be much better than the CM C5. The C5 front intake is almost useless. A pathetic 80mm fan if i've not mistaken. If you plant o impove the airflow, maybe you'll get high speed fan for the intake and exhaust as well. But that you will have to sacrifice the silence of the PC.

For me, maybe spending around  1k for the casing is a little too much, but i do always feel a couple of hundred, say 3-400 is still reasonable considering the better i-cutes are priced more than 100 also nowadays, same as the other generic ones.
*
I am using a Vizo 80mm fan for the front intake in my CM5.

May be it is because of the mesh surface for CM5, my harddisc temparature remain around 32-33 C even my computer download file for few days. smile.gif

I didnt use ah lian before, may be it is better. smile.gif

I agree with u , bro n305er...But compare I - Cute & the normal chaplang chasis , I would say I - Cute is better coz it provides more space for us to add chasis fan on it...This may help in air flow of our whole computer system...Very few chaplang chasis that would have 12cm chasis fan space compare to I - Cute...Conclusion is ` You`ll get what you pay for when buying the more expensive casings `...Cheers..

I think all people are calculating budget to upgrade to C2D on 22 July.. tongue.gif

Just came back from BJ again.

Basement, 1st floor, 2nd floor are full of hand phone shop, grd floor have some camera shop, 4th floor have a lot of computer shop....
It is look like BJ now become IT plaza.. tongue.gif

yaya.. Agree, Icute casing power supply which can support basic system.
It is suitable for normal user who want to save cost.

It's quite true that you get what you pay for. Cooler Masters are better than those Cap Ayam and Itik. The higher end ones are just as good as some Ah Lians and Silverstones. Frankly, even the C5 is already quite a good casing.

Nowadays many i-cutes do come with proper work space and also nice fan compartments for additional case fans, but i would have to say those stock i-cute fans would do nto much help for airflow, better consider some more seriuos fans if you want some real good ventilation. However, I-cutes are considered much better than those cheapo RM80 for casing+PSU like the one i'm using for my 2nd rig. Just that sometimes when budget is taken into concern, many will still go for the cheapest ones. Nowadays, many brand like E-mag, Now, E-view has casings which look very proper, but the material just doesn't feel solid. Most of them come with dual 80/90mm fan slots behind and either single or dual 80mm intake.

But anyhow, the casing is just not really that important, a better PSU will need to be prioritized before considering for a better casing. For me, it's ok to stick to a cheap casing but it's never ok to stick with a cheap PSU. I just dun trust them.

Darnell, seems like u go to BJ frequently, so u got the cable you were looking for?
*
It is because i plan to upgrade my computer ma..
I go there to have a dinner , then go to have a survey lor..
See got C2D price drop alrd or not.. tongue.gif
then try to find AMD X2 BE2350.

and... find my cable

I cannot found my cable leh...

Then i bought one from the seller that sell me the card..

Cost me RM45.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Hmm, seems like they are quite interesting. I know they have Arctic cooling CPU fans also. The guy is ok, that day also i went kacau, he even open up the plastic show me, open side panel and tell me many Penang ppl dunno about Ah Lian lar, and say many people come his shop he tell them ah lian good and those ppl only say coolermaster good... sweat.gif

Crucial seems to be interesting, finally we get something here. So now we need someone to bring in XFX, BFG, EVGA, Team then we'll really have a happening community in Penang, but i wonder how many of us would actually buy these high end stuff here in PG? As prices in LY and LYN are cheaper...
AMD X2 BE2350... drool.gif ...I wonder if we would be able to find it on malaysian soil soon...Lol...They overclock like mofo and these little B*sta*ds suck as little power as a hamster sucking from the water canteen.  brows.gif

How bout ur 939 Dual Core opty plans? Scrapped? ohmy.gif I'm still waiting to get a job confirmation so i can place an order for a 170 from elhh.

Dinner in BJ? where did you go? I couldn't think of any nice places for dinner in BJ... shakehead.gif
Good to hear that u finally got the cable, RM45 is still not that bad considering how much you already spent for the card...
*
oh.. plan to upgrade to C2D or BE2350 .. wub.gif

Want new technoloagy item tongue.gif

Still waiting the new C2D price and only make a decision.

The DDR ram is quite expensive, so plan to upgrade all to new platform and use DDR2.

oh.. u really still want to remain as 939 user?

Oh.. I just like KFC there. blush.gif it is better than KFC in Sungai Dua.. blush.gif

Yup, that chap at Advanced tech also keep telling me Lian Li is good... Overclockers and Modders all choose lian li one. sweat.gif
That's when I told him that I'm actually using one at home. Then he change liao, keep telling me he actually dunno much about the Lian Li parts. laugh.gif

Wha~~? Those 45W CPUs are out already? cry.gif

Anyway, As for XFX and BFG, I think GZ carries them. Though I doubt many people in Penang buys those things.

Most of the time when I'm helping some aunties or uncles to buy PC or just parts, they'll tell me, "Aiyah, can use can liao lah. Don't need expensive one la. Even computers few years ago can play game what." sweat.gif

Then I'll give them a statistics breakdown. When they were using those cheap parts, they actually have breakdowns of about 1 parts almost every 2 or 3 months. While my [expensive system] is still lasting me for over 4 years and still able to play the latest games, burn almost any DVDs. tongue.gif

Just 2 years ago, I recommended one of my uncle to actually get a good system from a good shop. The only problems he have so far are software problems. smile.gif

Well, I just erm... sort of upgraded and downgraded my system. Bought the Athlon X2 3800+ CPU from @meno. Installed it into a Tforce 690G mobo and added 1GB (Initially wanted 2GB but Mix Tech don't have stock sad.gif ).

So now I've upgraded my CPU and Motherboard but considered downgraded my RAM and display already.  rclxub.gif

I think I've made a wrong choice in selecting this motherboard though.
*
oh... why u regret to take the Tforce 690G?

It is very bad? Or just because of the build in graphic? It have HDMI output?

Campare with Nvidia 550 or 570 ,690 is not so good?

I'm saving up for a new display card lo. tongue.gif
Eh, it's not very bad. In fact, it's very good. tongue.gif
My regret isn't about the quality or performance. It's just that I just found out that if I installed a new graphics card into it, then the motherboard isn't very special anymore.

Nvidia's boards all have their prefetching technology since the nforce2 days. It has been forgotten by many but that simple technology did make a difference in terms of performance. The new Barcelona Cores from AMD has similar prefetching technology built in though.
*
oh. If just a build in graphic problem, then it is ok for me..
thanks for your opinion ya..

Ya, he was like that to me too. But when i start asking about a few other models, he started to erm...I actually dunno much bout Lian Li, if you want more detailed information i need to call my friend in KL... tongue.gif

Btw bro, hows the proc? Everything working well? I guess you should have get the standalone 570 chipsets, but the TA690g is quite well too from what i've heard and read, maybe the graphics are a little out, but at least it still comes with HDMI... tongue.gif

I guess i'll stick to 939 for quite some time to go, wait till phenom is launched and see how it performs, then wait till the price enters my budget range, then only switch... biggrin.gif

Some of the 690G motherboard didnt come with HDMI, if i am not mistaken.

I look at the bulk order just now from elhh..

It is look like no more Opteron alrd? hmm.gif

IMHO speaking i prefer mobo that comes with onboard, so u got spare onboard display in case GC is down.. The Biostar TA690G oso have good OC feature, mainly suits lite gamers or multimedia user... If really into gaming maybe u should get the 570U or 570SLi or 590SLi...

Actually i am doing some rendering.

oh..U PM him?

oh.. this is a ultra rig, but i will be ultra poor after bought this. sweat.gif

I am just looking a dual core processor and a mid end motherboard..

U doing video rendering or 3D rendering??? If doing video rendering Biostar TA690G good enough, higher processor speed would better & 2GB of ram... Add on PCIE GC 2600XT highly recommended, good in video quality & good HD decoding... Lest make it short "your graphics card can decode the better, as it'll lower the overall used CPU cycles of your PC" Click Here For More Details

@meno

4GB u r doing Vista 64bit???

I am doing 3D rendering. I am doing a heavy analysis in a software call ARCGIS. sweat.gif sweat.gif

I plan to upgrade my processor to dual core and 2G DDR2.

Still worry what to take now.. tongue.gif

C2D or AMDx2 BE?

It is because my budget not allow me to take high end processor. cry.gif

lol... Get budget AMD X2 dual core 65W would be better & Biostar TForce TA690G, 2GB ram is good enuf for XP or Vista... 3D rendering all is depend GC... check ur software system requirements... AFAIK ARCGIS system requirement quite low

@meno
XP Pro is kenot fully support 4GB lar doh.gif , even Vista not very stable... U need invest more money if going for Quadro...
*
ARCGIS basic requirement is quite slow, but when I want to run the analysis or Arc Scene which is doing the 3D, it is very slow... cry.gif

Have to see the price for C2D after 22 July. If the prcie is attractive, then I will go for C2D. If not, I will take AMDX2.

For motherboard, I think i will take 690G for AMD. Intel motherboard is abit expensive compare with AMD.

May be will take one 965 motherboard, but have to see the budget first. smile.gif

Darnell, if you can't wait i would say go for the Pentium E series and overclock the hell out of it or get a middle end C2D. I dun think the BE will be available so easily in Malaysia, but i'm also very tempted by it actually, lower power consumption, good overclocking capabilities, overall a very nice proc. 2Gb ddr2, could be good enough for your needs, but if you have extra, can consider dumping for another 2GB as you're relying on heavy graphic and CAD rendering right? Who would complain having too much ram on a rig? tongue.gif

I would say, get a E2160, a Biostar 965P, and 2gb of Ram. You should have a very decent system for a good price there, add in your Quadro... drool.gif (good enough for me)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I'm not planning for 4GB myself, at least for now. 2GB will be good enough. But for Darnell then it depends on how heavy his rendering jobs are. He should be doing a lot of CAD.

The 2600XT is a good card for HD rendering, takes the load away from the proc.
*
Price for E2160 + 965P is quite reasonable. thumbup.gif

But I still want to know others C2D price after 22 July.

Scare it suddenly drop so much.. tongue.gif

I will run the analysis everyday, so may be just slightly OC it only. SO, I just plan to buy a value ram. tongue.gif
Save cost.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Get at least E4300 + Biostar P965 or 965PT + A-Data 1GB DDR2 800 x2... grab it now later is the same... coz Intel price drop as predict ram prices up makes not much difference, AFAIK low end proc prices drop not much...

IMHO Compare with X2 4200+ & E2160 price & performance, the x2 4200+ still cheaper & yet better performance... X2 still best for budget dualies..
*
Actually i bought 2G of KVR 667 alrd. wub.gif wub.gif
Last time heard that price for ram will increase, so quickly go to buy 2X1G. wub.gif

Then, I plan to sell it because want to choose opteron 939.
But finally didnt do so.
Prefer new technology. . . tongue.gif

Thats why i want to wait until 22 July.
See how the price for intel? tongue.gif

Good to hear that u no longer need to use the pua kang wallet...

Btw, it is true that the difference of 2gb and 4gb is barely noticable at almost all times...

I still think the E21 series will out perform the Brisbanes, but again, it the differences are only visible on benchmarks, if in real life, i doubt you gonna get that much differences in feeling as the differences in benchmarks show.

I bought 2X 1G at RM99X2= RM198 wub.gif wub.gif

FP-Y5 are not as good ad FP-S5. S5 is legend...
But the Y5 should be able to do 900 at least on average, it's one of the better batches from Hynix.

Even the D9DPN microns i have in hand can hit 900mhz easily(On 1.9v, never pushed them to 2.3v sweat.gif ), and as claimed by Kucingfight can reach DDR1000... drool.gif  Too bad i dun have a rig to test them out again, gotta arrange with Lohwenli to OC it kaw kaw again...
Huhu, the prices were very very attractive...God, that was below my cost price when i conducted my bulk... doh.gif

Btw, the price for the BE series... doh.gif With that price, i'd rather take the E series pentium. Take a E2160 and OC till max. But anyhow, wait till the new price for the C2D only decide... laugh.gif The E series proper retail price is around RM280-RM300 for the E2160...

If got shop clear E6600 old stock for RM400 i'll grab instantly...(dreaming so early in the morning... yawn.gif )
