QUOTE(Fyonne @ Nov 21 2007, 10:20 PM) Dear penang pc enthusiast, if u require high precision of the colour,my 7 years old crt is showing ailing sign. wat should i replace it with? stick with crt monitor (since im into digital painting) or just get normal lcd n deal with slight loss in color quality? (or does it matter neway?) still suggest u to get an CRT monitor, but now also kinda hard to find CRT monitor, mostly have to back to back order, or find those workstation monitor... hmm, actually not a slight loss if u planning to get LCD that below 22" below 22" mostly are using TN panel where the colour is sucks among all, for better suggestion if u wana go for LCD, u can go to hardware>widescreen thread~ more ppl can explain better than me at there Added on November 21, 2007, 10:25 pm QUOTE(rainingzero @ Nov 21 2007, 10:21 PM) LOL,as what I know, subzero is one kind of tower tat can be build in tower defence (warcarft 3) This post has been edited by cschun86: Nov 21 2007, 10:25 PM |

QUOTE(Fyonne @ Nov 21 2007, 10:20 PM) Dear penang pc enthusiast, Well, LCD has lower contrast (because the blacks are not so dark), but actually the tone gradient between colours is more accurate than CRT especially if its using DVI connection. Colour accuracy due to viewing angle is not much of an issue with current LCDs anymore, try out first to your liking (pay more attention to up-down than left-right).my 7 years old crt is showing ailing sign. wat should i replace it with? stick with crt monitor (since im into digital painting) or just get normal lcd n deal with slight loss in color quality? (or does it matter neway?) CRT looks sharper because the blacks are more real, but the colour gradient is far less accurate unless you have the means to calibarate it properly (you have to do it every once in a while, as CRT phosphors tend to burn in with age). The screen reacts faster too, but this is usually only a minor issue only in very fast paced games like first person shooters, in other situations LCD is actually more pleasant (especially if using continuously for long hours) because LCDs don't flicker no matter what. Also, CRTs tend to suffer more from picture distortion because the screen is not perfectly flat. There are flat CRTs, but they cost more, almost as much as cheap LCDs. And oh yeah, LCDs are a hell lot lighter. My suggestion, get a LCD with DVI if you can afford it. If you light your workplace properly then the 'not-as-dark' blacks will be less of a problem. Colour accuracy is actually a big problem with uncalibarated CRTs, shading can look completely different even between monitors, even worse for printing. |
