But I have heard Tx3 S905X3 works well with RetroArch, a console emulator for SNES, NES, N64, Sega etc. Require a Bluetooth controller to match.

I remember now, the Unifi TV mod version APK is extracted out from Unifi Plus Box. So This UnifiTV mod apk and the Unifi Play TV mobile version are different apps, one for mobile, one for Android TV OS.

The UnifiTV version is meant for Android TV OS, and thus fully functional with normal remote. However, I believe this app is not available on Android TV Google Playstore, and require to be downloaded and installed separately (do correct me if I am wrong). Additional information: Since version 1.2.2, UnifiTV app available in Android TV OS Playstore, and can be downloaded directly to Mibox S or Nvidia Shield certified ATV boxes.

Regarding the issues plaguing Android boxes, I have been monitoring since it emerges 3 days ago.

Am I surprise? Sincerely, No, I expected Assteruk to do something ever since the major change of Astro-Go from from old version 8.2.4 to the current ver 2.1. Old version was much stricter. Just didn't foresee it took so long for Astro to make the move.

The ball is back in the consumers/Android box sellers court now. As the changes were made on As$terruk login server side to filter out devices that matches certain criteria like device ID, device firmware etc etc.

Latest news is that Tx6 and other boxes affected . Nvidia Shield not affected, Tx3 mini ver 7 seems immune, and some obscure firmware version of Tx3 and version 8.1.

At the moment, I would just sit still and see if the A$terukk server changes is permanent or not. Previously there was a time, the changes was temporary.

Lastly those who already logged in, you can continue using Asteroo_Go. Reminder not to logout. Another hint is not to Click the Login button if the app attempt force logout error message. Just press Home button on IR remote, and restart the box.

I see IPTV sellers rejoicing over these changes. Ha ha 🤣🤣🤣😂😂

There is no CMOS battery to keep time in the box, much like all other boxes. They usually synchronized the time when the box connects to a router that itself synchronized time with internet time.

For you case, if you are using mobile hotspot then consult the device manual. If connected to router, normally default time sync settings is already good. So do check its settings. Quite possibly, the router may not be even synchronized as well with internet time.

You can try. Funny enough, my Automatic Date & time setting is Off in Android 7.1.2, and it has no issues with time and date.

If I remember correctly your Tx3 max originally is a Tx3 mini with the Android 7 2017 build.
Others reporting the same android 7 Tx3 mini 2017 build is having issues with Aotg.

Presumably the last few weeks, Astro has been manually filtering out the devices they suspect as Android boxes, Tx3 mini, Tx3 X3 Android 9, Tx6 Android 9 etc being the common and normally recommended boxes. Thus uncommon boxes like your Tx3 max most likely missed out during the human-error-prone filtering.

If my assumption above is correct, than Tx5 max (which has stopped production since a year ago) would also get through. However that is not the case.

Seems to be more than meets the eye. A few ways to resolve it, but ultimately it looks increasing like it is back to the old days of Version 8.2.4 where a modded apk of Aotg is required to run on Android boxes.

Yours is Tx3 S905X3 or Tx3 mini?

I will need to update the first post to highlight this AstroGo login issues.

Presently, news is that Tx3 X3 that originally comes with Android 9 is incompatible whereas Tx3 mini Android 8 and 7 seems to okay for certain firmware. Even X96 boxes got working again after changing firmware. Hopefully later, the modders will be able to identify which parameters within the build.prop and firmware that the server is cross checking.

My recommendation to potential buyers is to consult with sellers if AsterukGo is a priority.

More conflicting news trickling in. Read that the NEW Tanix boxes (including Tx6 an Tx3 X3) has no problems login to AstroGo.

Some sellers posted that they too are confused why some can login some cannot. I wouldn't want to divulge much, other than discussions were centered on Astro recent efforts to hamper all illegal accounts and TV boxes.

At the moment it would be best to consult and ask directly and specifically to TV box sellers about AstroGo compatibility. Get an affirmative confirmation or at the very least the seller is knows what is happening.

Again, if AstroGo is a priority, please do the above. Don't blindly buy a Tanix box or from sellers who has no idea of latest developments.

Regarding to the issue of login for ssteruk, the changing of the Webview to Bromite Webview version is proposed by an otai. Only problem is that root access is required, and therefore a mod apk is also mentioned. Tx6 which is not manually unrooted, will have problem getting back root access. The mod apk also allows casting if I remember correctly.

Overall, the Bromite Webview Fix is clearly not applicable to all. I tried asking around online.


I message a few TVbox sellers, and some says theirs have no issues with login, others say they are aware and cannot guarantee AstroGo compatibility straight out of the box. Best to consult the sellers yourself before any purchase, or can opt for other boxes if AstroGo is not a priority. MiboxS with Chrome access to AstroGo is a possibility, but may not appeal to some as the picture quality isn't as good.

FHD - very sure can't do.

I read there is supposedly an old mod Netflix APK version 4.xxxxx that can give HD.

Lately, another mod version 7.xxxx can also deliver.

However, please don't quote me on it. I don't use Netflix, and neither have I tested any of the mod apk.

Possible solution but not for all.

My recommendation is to consult the seller before you make any commitment, especially those who are using or plan to use 'not-so-legal' account id.
Something I notice is that those account id that has suspicious login activity seems to have this problem.

How is one deem as suspicious? I don't know, I will leave you to figure out.

Will this happen again once fixed? Astrogo was never meant for tvbox usage, so very likely will happen again but don't know when; took more than 1 year since the launch of the new Astrogo app before Astro started to take half hearted action.

It is my opinion recent changes to a more secured Astrogo login along with this is webview changes is to counter illegal account, rather than to hamper tvbox. Just my 2 cents.

In the youtube, it says to delete the original webview apk. I suggest to rename it or copy it to somewhere safe.
Before this, a few people misread the instructions, and didn't install the new webview apk using ES Explorer after restart.

As for Tx6 boxes.
If you box is rooted, then all good - just follow the guide and use the modded Astrogo apk that will work with rooted box.
If your box is already unrooted via some apps (for reasons of using aotg originally) - then the most convenient method is to flash back the original firmware.

Apparently the latest official webview from Android Playstore only works with some boxes, the original person tested with X96 box and got it work. As for Tanix boxes, the group found that bromite version works best.

The latest I heard is that, the guide works 100% if done correctly provided the restrictions mentioned is adhered.

Meaning , box must be rooted or has root switch like Tx3 mini or Tx3 S905X3 for this to work.

I have read of users not knowing where root switch is or if their box is rooted or not. Other cases of lack of ES Explorer app know how makes it frustrating to guide newbies. It can be overwhelming when there are version 1.xx ,version 3.xx and ver4.00 , all with different UI of ES Explorer.

If you are using Tx6 or any other boxes which has already being UNROOTED before, then the most convenient and viable option is to flash back original ROM. The guide mentioned clearly it is only for Tx3 and Tx6 with Root Access. The fix is merely to update the original Webview with Bromite webview ontop of it. The Bromite file won't install without the original Webview presence. Don't go uninstalling the original Webview if you are not sure. At most just disable it for other types of boxes.

Here is an update of the guide by Mr.Alan. Extra precautions for Tx3 S905X3 installation. Again, remember to install the APK. Another issue commonly faced is ES Explorer Root access unavailable even after root switch setting is Opened. Do a restart and it should be fine.

Back then when Tx3 is mentioned, it was referring to Tx3mini with only its 2.4GHz WiFi.

Nowadays, we have Tx3mini and also Tx3 S905X3 both of them with dual WiFi 2.4 and 5GHz capability.

I am unable to offer any comparison, as I don't own a Tx6s. The best people to ask this are the sellers themselves, as they would have tested them and obtain feedback from previous customers on their performances.

At the moment, apart from the well known US brands, the popular boxes commonly mentioned in various social media groups till date, are :- (in no particular order )
Tx3 mini
Tx3
Tx6
MiBox S

Primarily the reason why these three are popular is because of their astro gol compatibility previously, large following and support

I can see why the Android 10 can be a factor in which box to purchase. Sincerely, I can't offer any opinion.

Sometimes, the ES Explorer didn't detect root open, even after we have set it.
Just make sure root is set correctly, and then restart the box. Then the ES Explorer will be able to access root and have proper permissions to copy, paste or cut or set properties of the files under the root folder.

The group who investigated and found the Webview fix, has vast experience and I am pretty sure they tinker on Mibox S as well. Not sure of Mibox 3, but the final recommendation is just to stick with Chrome browser on MiboxS due to the stuttering on live HD channels with Aotg.

Same question as above, which app you are using? - The mobile version(fireball icon) or the Android TV version?
And what version number.

Latest I read is that have to use the Legacy mod Android TV apk for Tx3/Tx6.

As for the app detecting device rooted, even though you have switch off Super User - it could be the new version has implemented a permanent error flag, every time root is detected when running in the background. This is the case for the previous Unifi PlayTV app. The solution is to keep Super User setting off, and never turn it back on. Otherwise you have to clear cache, clear data, and re-login again. Try and let us know.

According to the modder, only these 2 ATV version MIGHT WORK, or they might not work for Tx3/Tx6. Good Luck.
