Your upgraded Tx3 mini to Tx3 max suddenly has Bluetooth built-in feature? Just want to clarify, if so I am also interested to upgrade, LMAO.

I will be amazed if the hardware is available all along on the board.

Updated my first post in the first page to reflect upon the changes to Tx3 recently.

I am amazed with the Antutu benchmark on the S905X3. Even though my one year+ old Tx3 mini is still doing very well, I might just upgrade on the basis that it is Android 9, and not so much of the benchmark improvement.

Contributors to this thread been buying the box from various sellers, and last I checked
https://shopee.com.my/linglang.my
is selling this upgraded Tx3 S905X3 and this overseas seller is still getting lots of 5 Star rating with great customers' review. You wouldn't go wrong buying from this store if you don't have any preferred seller.

I have the same issue as well, but not with other apps. Seems like the Astro Go app is not optimised.
*
I have a 2GB Tx3 mini, in the early days using older AstroGo version, the app would crash more often than not when I change tab quickly ( i.e. home, catch-up, movies, box set, library etc).

Lately after upgrading to latest version from apkpure - it rarely crash. Maybe it is my intuition to NOT quickly change tab before the last one is fully loaded. Could be the latest version fixed the problem.

You could try this to isolate if AstroGo is the problem.

Developer mode > Destroy activity as soon as you leave it.

Basically nothing runs in the background while using AstroGo. Not even the home launcher.

I did read you have HBO Go app. I don't have that in my Tx3.

If all else fails, just hard reset. Install AstroGo and nothing else. Test for a couple of days.

Is TX3 mini 4GB, 32GB price around RM150? Or can get cheaper?

The prices from Chinese sellers (TV box specialist sellers) are there and there about based on the 2 links above. Local sellers will be higher generally. If you are new to TV boxes, recommend avoid non specialist sellers or pre-order status goods.

Given the condition of China right now, there are rumours that even Pos Laju is not handling packages to or from China. So do asks if any overseas sellers has issues sending packages out and if they disinfect their packages.

I suggest if you want to buy, do buy it quick - like some other industries, manufacturing of TV boxes has most likely stopped.

Used Tx3 mini for over a year and didn't realise it could do split screen.
YouTube mobile and YouTube Vanced example below. However split screen capabilities depends on individual app.

Allow me to chip in on the Tx3 S905X3 Android 9 versus Tx6 RK Android 9 comparison.

I think I know why there are a section of people having a hard time on deciding on these two models and asking "weird" comparison questions relating to them. I will get to that in the next post.

comparing apple against apple (hardware wise)

Tx3 S905X3 Android 9 is better in all aspect to the Tx6 bar one feature

Tx3
- New model 2020
- New CPU AMlogic S905X3 (think QUalcomm snapdragon)
- Better performance
- Reliable firmware as it is tuned from Tx3 Mini as has same Alice UX as Tx6
- Antutu up to 70k
-Has a simple Setting to close or open root whenever you want ( what we call as Root Switch)
(When root and unroot is important? this you can google as out of topic here)

Tx6
- Old model 2019
- Allwinner H6 chip, (think Mediatek in Handphone)
- The box is pretty warm when touched. So performance will definitely be an issue at some point in time.
- Comes by default rooted ( so cannot run official AstroGo or Unifi)
- Can unroot easily but difficult to root back if you suddenly wants root access.
- SO WHAT IS GOOD of Tx6?? ( Its external Antenna is tested and confirm makes a difference). Only a few reputable models has this, Minix, Tanix Tx5 Max (has stopped production). If wifi could be a potential issue or problem in your suroundings, then Tx6 is the one to get. Other wise, if can connect LAN cable to router or no wifi issues in your living rooom - Tx3 Mini Android 8 or Tx3 X3 Android 9is the preferred choice any time.

EDIT:- Allwinner H6

Now to the interesting part, and probably a section of the IPTV community will see this post as a disservice to them.

My intention is only to clarify to newbies and people who has no idea what TV box and IPTV (pirated content), but really want to reduce their house hold expenses. The same reason for me putting up the post on MCMC android Boxes with with Illegal stuff in a differrent thread. My conscience is clear - I am not a seller, I am not a distributor, I am not an influencer - I am just a user like most here who shares their knowledge and findings.

Recently, there has been online sellers peddling "Lifetime IPTV" Tx6 Android box or "One time Pay" Tx6 Android Box.

The Tx6 box costs around RM150 online from China - I think the recommended seller, shopee.com/linglang.my sells it too.

By default, these boxes as explained by AVFAN comes out from the factory - with only default apps, or in other words, NO APPS AT ALL. Only a renamed KODI, Youtube TV, Miracast/Airscreen are available in these empty boxes.

The sellers of these "One Time pay" Tx6 boxes, (sellers are local Malaysian) would install a modded Tx6 firware with L**live app in to the TX6 boxes.
L**live app is the illegal app that is installed to the the so-called MCMC approved L**gTV. Logically this L**live app only works in the L**gTV android Boxes, but somehow the sellers manage to setup Tx6 boxes to look like a L**gTV box and allow it to work with L**live app.

THREE ISSUE I need to highlight :-
1. The Tx6 box needs to be rooted for the L**live to work. So to get AstroGo to work in the Tx6 - only can use Modded AstroGo apk.
Can't use the official AstroGo apk as root is detected and won't work.

2. Seller sells the whole Tx6 package with L**live at RM220-250, with little to not much effort involve to make a fast profit. If there is any effort involve, it would be the only one person, who found the trick to keep using it even after L**live release new updates. The trick is a well kept secret among a select few and not available publicly. It is just a select few trying to make a quick buck here and there. Others even offer Rm50 service to do it for you only if you can send the Tx6 to them.

3. The people behind L**live is aware of this loophole that steal their server bandwidth, so no guarantee that your one time pay will even last for 2 months let alone lifetime. Unless ofcourse, you are friend with the orignal hacker. Almost all others are agents, or won't be able to help once a new update is released by L**live.

Don't ask me how to install into your Tx6. I don't know how it is done. There are a number of ways, mostly old methods applicable for older versions of L**live that no longer work, or only works in a certain type of mobile phone.

So if you still can't decide between Tx3 or Tx6 or any other android box - please consult your preferred sellers. Normally they have a better understanding of their produce and will know what you need after you explain what you need. So hopefully this thread and AVFAN's explanation provide some basic knowledge of android boxes and apps for you all to go ask your sellers.

Those who like to know more about these One Time Pay Android Boxes so called legitimate MCMC SIRIM approved boxes, I submitted a writeup on them in another thread. The links attached below. Quoted SCThong, so as not to do double work on the same topic. I waited quite long for SCThong to write it up, till I gave up and went out to research myself.

QUOTE(SCThong @ Aug 26 2019, 08:02 PM)
If time permits, I will also address the boxes that "supposedly" comes with lifetime IPTV, and
"supposedly" certified and approved by SIRIM and MCMC.

EVPAD, Unblock Tech.. and things like this didn't start recently, they have been around since the day I started reading about android boxes. Only recently we see a surge in a variety of supposedly  certified boxes.

Newbies buying android boxes, will surely ask about IPTV. I cannot fault you guys for asking, and I don't deny everyone new to android boxes will ask for it. After all android boxes are meant for Home entertainment.

In this forum, we try not to discuss about the pirated IPTV - as it is forbidden by Forum rules, and the thread will be deleted by moderators. There are other platform where they are openly discussed and apps share without limitations.

Only official legitimate IPTV services i.e. AstroGO, UnifiPlay TV, Netflix, Prime, Viu, dimsum, iflix, Disney+... can be openly discussed here. But by no means to say, the contributors do not know about the pirated IPTV. I can assure you, a lot of them in here are upto date with latest free pirated IPTV in the market.

Let it be known, that if casual people like us who knows where to get them - I can guarantee any Android box sellers worth their salt will also know of the latest free IPTV. The problem with these free IPTV is that, they come and go. Users have to be diligent and hardworking enough to keep up to date with latest apps.

It is for this reason, if newbies are buying Android Boxes for older parents that are not technically inclined - please consider subscribing to a 'legitimate' IPTV that can offer guaranteed streaming.

If newbies are still incline on getting affordable solution of android boxes + IPTV apps - DO REMEMBER THIS, the free apps won't work perfectly all the time, and will stop working at some time. Buy your android boxes from Specialist Sellers who can provide good after sales service, and not be fooled by sellers promoting 10,000 movies and 10,000 IPTV channels in their android boxes.

Normally these sellers, sell and then forget about you. Avoid sellers who can't even offer any extra services, as they are merely traders - they obtained the consignment stocks to shore up their store shelf only. Whether they sell or don't, they don't lose money. Also try avoid items where it states "Pre-Order" if you are not certain of the sellers reputation.

If still dunno what to get and feel insecure about unbranded OEM OTT boxes - then get Mibox S. Buy it for the EXPERIENCE of using android boxes for the first time, and when you are more confident - you can sell off the mibox S and get a box that suits your needs.

Use mouse , pull up from bottom screen to reveal the Navigation bar.

You will see a power button icon at the far right of the bottom corner. Click and hold the click until a pop up appears allowing you to power down or restart.

Or if lazy, just unplug the DC adapter at the back of the box. I see others doing this, but I rarely do it.

I am back. Who missed me?

...

....The only part I am disturbed is why the prices mentioned here is different to the Shopee prices. I think your prediction of the prices going up just came true. Hard to blame any seller for increasing prices since the world factory floor which is China has stopped production in parts of the manufacturing line.

*
Welcome back.

About the prices, I notice a gradual drop in prices last week to which I think is due to the recent 3.3 Shopee Sale. I think the prices are back to normal as is a lot of other products I notice in my shopping cart. However your observations is not without justification, there is definitely an increase from the "normal" price.

Two examples of price slash :-
Mibox S from dasher was only selling at RM189, today it is back to RM210

Rotary hammer drill, was going for 115, today jumped back to RM136.

Seems like Shopee forego their commission of RM21, during the 2 week sale to boost sales.

Or you can set the Power Key Definition in the Side bar setting to Shutdown. Then everytime you click the power button , it will initiate shutdown sequence instead of sleep/standby.

Seems like you are using an official Tanix Tx3 or Tx6 box with Alice Ux. Did you upgrade your Tx3 firmware to get the Alice Ux?

Majority of us bought OEM Tx3 boxes from China sellers, in fact if you check majority of Tx3 sold are OEM Tx3 and not Tanix Tx3.
Hardware wise there are no major differences, some times only wifi bluetooth module diferences. Firmware wise, I believe this is one of many examples of OEM factories updated the original firmware to make it better and lighter.

Let me check on the Alice UX to see if your Tanix Alice UX can set the Power button to shutdown instead of standby.
I have read other Tx6 users having this exact problem on how to shutdown even with an IR remote.

Do check with sellers like shopee.com/linglang.my if an IR remote can help you or not. I think it costs less than RM10.

Sorry can't help. Your lucky, yours have a navigation bar. I don't remember my old Tx6 has any navigation bar at the bottom. Totally different firmware to yours.

Been asking around the Alice UX in the new Tx3 mini Android 8 has all these features brought over from Android 7.

I believe the Tx3 Android 9 would have it too. Again, all these are OEM boxes, not the originals Tanix.

I read others try to update their Tx3 mini Android 7.1.2 to new Android 8 Alice UX.

Some couldn't even boot up. Others manage to boot up but receive a BIG BANNER at the top of the screen written "The device is not activated yet, please contact your vendor"

No idea what that means. I guess there is some form of security built into the Android 8 firmware.

Probably will be a few months before some hacker will be able to mod the firmware to remove the security. The firmware taken from existing Tx3 mini Android Alice UX.

Sorry for me too , for posting in tx3 since I can't find any tx6 thread here.
I use remote too but sometimes mouse is much better in navigation on google chrome search typing by just swiping using a mouse.
A lot of apps runs better on mouse like fb apps , twitter with scroll wheel.

At the sametime I hope to find a power off on this aliceUx UI .Actually I still prefer default android UI which is much easier to navigate.

How do I know it is original or not ?
Default there is no bottom navigation bar , but to have it appear , you have to use a mouse point at the bottom and long press drag the bar up.
Not too sure 8 or 9  , maybe i am wrong too , will check the version later on.

how do we know it's oem ?
*
Alright, I think I know exactly what is your issue here. Short answer is - CANNOT DO.
Long explanation.
The Power Key is very special. It can be configured to Standby/Sleep or configured to Shutdown or even configured to Restart.
The thing with IR remote or any special android box remote (wireless), is that they usually have another feature that allows for LONG PRESS on the Power Key. Long press will bring up a special window where Shutdown or restart can be selected instead.

Using the Mouse can simulate this long press, as long as the Power key button in the navigation bar is programmed to have the long press function to bring up the special shutdown window.

However this is not the case for using Keyboard Short cut key. The shortcut key to Power Button is Fn+F11. You can press it but you cannot simulate the LONG PRESS to bring up the special window.

I guess this is part of the problem of migrating from Android Mobile OS into android boxes, as the way to shutdown is to long press the power button.

There are users who insists on the top status bar and bottom navigation bar in the android boxes. Not all firmware has it, as some programmers don't find them useful and remove them from the home launcher to save resources. There are apps out there that can only operate well with the top status bar. And like yourself, you need the bottom navigation bar as you use your mouse often.

My problem back then was not the shutdown, but to power up after shut down, to which only IR remote can do. Any wireless remote or even bluetooth remote will be able to shutdown as their Power Key is programmed to have long press, but power up from shutdown status is a total different matter, as the USB port or Bluetooth has to be active throughout.

There are hacks or apps out there that can show the hidden status bar, but I am not too sure if there are hacks to bring up the hidden navigation bar as the bar is very much inherrent to the box itself. It is not a standard Android feature.

############
I know your box is the original Tanix box as the Alice UX has the word Tanix at the top left corner. OEM boxes has modified the firware to remove association to Tanix.
Another way to quickly identify Tanix boxes, is that the android box has the word Tanix boldly written on it. OEM only has the letters Tx3 or Tx6.

In fact, I don't find what is so good about the Alice UX. It is still a plain home launcher that takes up more resources to do the fancy navigation.

I guess just like Android TV OS or even with Xiami Mi box, the understanding is that the boxes are meant to be put under standby and not shut down totally. That is probably the reason, original Alice UX in Tx6 and Mibox has no feature to shutdown properly.

Users who likes to shutdown totally is in the minority. There are lots of customers who just wants to turn on and immediately have picture on the screen, and not have to wait 2 minutes to boot up.

I just got mine today, don’t know where to find all those channel as per seller say

I am at Alice UX interface couldn’t see any related apps like Astro, TV9 or something else

But In YouTube I saw people have it.

Need guidance here.
*
A couple of weeks ago, I overheard local sellers mentioning of gradual price increase as the stocks available locally depletes. I personally didn't think it would get to the stage of SOLD OUT locally.
If you are highly suspect of Overseas China Sellers, then rest assure the Overseas Shopee seller Linglang comes highly recommended. Tx3 Mini and Tx3 S905X3 should still be available as mentioned by AVFAN.

The price is only a little bit higher, but the After Sales Service provided is very satisfactory. Do review the previous customers comments who also highlights this fact in their review. I highly recommend the seller for those with zero knowledge of Android TV boxes.

There are others who prefer cheaper, and I don't fault them. These are buyers with prior knowledge of Android boxes and how to play around them.

There are those who wants a plug and play box, and again I won't fault them. New users with zero knowledge usually opt for a ready made item. However that is because these buyers didn't expect sellers to guide them step by step, and most times sellers who peddles "Fully Loaded" boxes don't offer much after sales service. Rest assure at some point in time, purchasing android boxes or even Mibox S or Nvidia Shield of FireTV, users will require to learn how to install, update and navigate apps that isn't available in Google Playstore.

And lastly there is the issue of Legality, MCMC. I think AVFAN gave a good explanation above.
The android boxes with Android OS is just another Android Phone without Screen but has a HDMI output.

The MCMC certification paraded by some Android Boxes is a 'hoax', a 'con', a 'scam' to trick unknowing consumers into thinking they are legally buying Digital Media Content for a one time fee of RM350 ~ RM800. I have written on this subject in a different thread.

Those who like to know more about One Time Pay Android Boxes so called legitimate MCMC SIRIM approved boxes, I submitted a writeup on them in another thread.

Just got my tanid tx3 rclxm9.gif
Silly question here. Can I plug in 3.5mm, normal earphones to the back the box?

And just checking. What apps/method you guys use for auto shutdown? Would like to set some sort of timer so kids won't throw tantrum if it off automatically instead of me doing it.
*
I have tested the 3.5mm AV port some time back.
In summary, it works but flawed.

I think the port is meant for AV cable with Video and Audio (L,R), and not meant for Audio output alone.

I tried with the normal earphone (without mic), and I had to adjust the plug insertion to get the proper sound on the left and right side. Even then, I felt I am not getting Stereo sound. It is more like mono sound duplicated on both speaker.

I tried with the earphone (with mic) that has 4 part copper on its plug. The result is the same, full insertion don't seem to work. I had to pull the plug out a bit to get proper sound on left and right side. Clearly not ideal and certainly don't seem to be a match.

My assumption is the AV port electronic part seems to follow different standard which requires the proper plug (jack).

As for Autoshutdown, this feature is usually built into the firmware. We see this in our phones nowadays.

As far as I know the tx3 mini don't have this feature inherently. However there are apps that can perform this on the basis that ROOT access is open to which Tx3 mini can allow. Do note if you permanently have Root Access open, then you will encounter difficulty with apps which won't work with Root Access open i.e. AstroGo and Unifi PlayTV

I haven't tested it on my Tx3, so I can't confirm. I don't see a problem of Autoshutdown as the system clock is set prior to the shutdown. I foresee a problem with Autostartup if there is one - as the Tx3 mini don't keep time once it is shutdown. Can't comment on Tx3 S905X3, as I don't own one. Maybe will get one after Raya or when the price drops back down.
