lol..bro. sorry i succumbed.

saw carput shopee selling my battery amaron-go for rm179 instead of rm209 as usually, siap deliver and got 10% coin cashback somemore.
the current one is 34 months now.
yesterday, i need to crack thrice before car start up (first time after months and months of occasionally need crack twice).
i pulled the trigger.
was hoping i can go 36 months but it's......an attractive deal
no idea how long later they put back "normal" price.

Better get it before price increase. Everything now increasing price. whistling.gif

When I go change my tyre, the workshop owner says some brand manufacturer keeping the stock to wait for price increase.

Good evening,

I am looking for a tester, so heard Lancol being mention so I have a look Micro 200 below rm90 both local and oversea unit.
Then saw Lancol CAT200 RM127. 77sale will bring down to rm118(oversea unit) It a tester and charger(2 in 1).

So what do you all think?

Get or no get? Cat200.
Lazada CAT200

Thank you, abubin and VeeJay for your input.

Let me share my stories a bit.

Currently I am using a NS40ZL Kochi water filling Nov 2019 with only 14.500 KM mileage.

Cold measurement on my multimeter 12.3V (tested today. did not drive yesterday so it rested more then 30 hours)
Last charged last week 14 hours but still blinking 75% and 100%.
Same 75% and 100% blinking 2-3 month ago at 8 hours charge.
(when fully charge all 25,50,75 and 100 suppose to light steady)

3 month back notice cranking was slow. charged 8 hours. And so far cranking were smooth after that. So my guess soc and soh might be somewhere 50%. bye.gif

Your symptom does seems like the battery is already not in good condition. It shouldn't need so much charging. Twice a month of charging should be sufficient. Also, maybe the alternator is also in not good condition.

With a tester, you could test the alternator too. However, do note that these cheap testers are not accurate. It's only meant to be a reference. More accurate would be those expensive testers, those non-digital ones or good multimeter. But for home users like us, it is more than sufficient.

Hi all sifus,

Out of curiosity, I am looking look up the manufacturing date for my recent Yuasa M42 55B20L battery.

Found these alphanumeric imprints on the top battery casing:
5D4R04
13410156

Tried asking the foreman, but they said "tak tau". And I couldn't find much info online. Mostly points to different format for another series.

Any help appreciated. Cheers.

According to my Principal Co SOP which I follow in order for battery's warranty to be valid is a NS60LS, which is a higher specification than what is provided by Toyota or its Service Center i.e. NS40ZL + adaptor. In my personal opinion my Principal Co SOP is correct and there is a valid reason for that.

Ok let me ask you this question instead, if indeed NS40ZL is the correct battery speciification for the vehicle, then why on earth did Toyota make a bigger battery compartment that is meant for a NS60LS ? Isn't that extra costs in production, which they could have avoided and translated that into savings simply reducing the sizes ? I had asked their clients to forward this question to their SC, until today I have not gotten an answer why is a NS40ZL used instead of a NS60LS.

*
It's obvious that Toyota did it to save cost. Due to that, they cannot say it to users, right?

Also, for them to use NS40ZL means users have a choice of either battery spec. Both should not void warranty for car. Isn't it better option for users? The only disadvantage I see in using smaller battery is the longevity. I don't think it will damage the car unless I am missing something. Please do enlighten.

Have just change to a new AMARON battery hope it will last more than 2 years. But then again, that is the normal lifespan of a car battery, anything beyond that is a bonus.

I think this thread is meant to educate public that this is not the case.

After reading thru the forum, I'm fascinated by all that can achieved 3 to 4 years of life for their's battery and wondering why most of us can't get the same result.
From the beginning of the new car, I'm changing battery ~ every 18 months (except mco ~20mths).

Even trying different brands from Panasonic, Century, Hitachi, etc, etc with the same result. All KO ~ 18 mths.

When the pandemic/lock down started, this is the free time for me to scroll the web for information on my battery spec.
Surprised to know that most others country using the same NS70L, the same size as mine but with much higher capacity also can last for 3 to 4 years on the same model car.
This prompt me to search for a better/higher specification battery for my car.

Mine doesn't equipped with a stop start so I don't require an EFB battery.

Most probably you are right that this current battery I'm using are left idle on the shelf, since I've bought it after mco.
Thought of replacing with Century MAX or Excel but all shop don't have stock for a higher spec NS70L.

In the end, just buy any higher spec battery that they have in stock.

Let me jump in before sifu (Italian guy) start giving good lesson.

The main reason for battery lasting not as long here is due to the weather. Battery goes bad easier when it is hot. Over here, it's 365 days of hot sun. So once you know the why, you need to know how.

Try wrapping a heat shield around the battery. Also, run "battery repair" feature every few months on the battery. This will reduce sulfation. I am doing this now on my car battery but not enough time have passed to have any results. Maybe wait another 2 years.

From my experience battery quality makes a difference as well. Couple of my uncles who had CBU car their battery came from overseas and last 6-10years!
*
Yes yes...forgot about that. True that. Battery quality also very important.

From what I heard, when Amaron started, they made sure to use quality parts in their battery. After they became famous, they reduced the quality. However, still up to standard.

That is why everyone need a powerbank jumpstarter. Get a good quality brand. So you can maximize your battery usage and save money to justify for buying the jumpstarter.
