Anyone managed to use the dongle outside of their address where the fibre is installed?

Just tried my dongle on my laptop outside of my home but got a solid blue light on the dongle and the web interface says that i'm not connected.

Do hope anyone here can help me resolve.

Thanks in advance.

Recently just installed my Maxis Home Fibre and asked the installer this Q.
As per his explanation, the current dongles are only meant to work with the TP-Link routers. So it won't work on laptops etc..
However, if you are able to gain access to the earlier generation of dongles .. it would work.

As an alternative, we could take the SIM card and use it on an iPad. I've yet to try it out.

i tot there is a clause that if they detect u use the sim for other usage other than as a backup when fibre line down, u may get penalized. they can detect ur 4g line is utilizing bandwidth while ur fibre line also using bandwidth at the same moment.

they may also bound and register ur sim to the nearest few cell tower.

I just got the SIM card here
My situation is weird though.

I initially plugged the dongle to my laptop, doesn't work.
Then I took the SIM and put in my phone, works instantly.
After that I plug back into laptop, not working.

After that I did a firmware update - which unsurprisingly, still cannot connect.
No WAN IP as well. APN all default.

This is 4G modem, not fiber

I using the 4G modem replying you. I m the first batch of Maxis OnePrime user. But now Maxis has disable the new batch 4G modem using outside of Router.

Anyway, its easily to resolve by purchase another 4G modem by yourselves

I see, thanks. I'm thinking to upgrade my MaxisOne 128 to MaxisOne Prime, using my brother address for the fibre line since my house didn't have fibre coverage.

You can downgrade (if you did not tie to any contract now) to MaxisOne 98

because in MaxisOne Prime plan, regardless 98 or 128, both plan will gain unlimited quota.

Hi, I planning to switch my Unifi to Maxis Fiber soon.
Looking that they provide backup 4G LTE modem, can we use it somewhere else?

My kind of working nature allow me to move around, and sometime station at hometown for long period.
And if using this, wonder if I can survive by bring the Modem around with me.
