i just need a wifi router for my parents to play facebook and some youtube streaming jer.. B618 is a bit overkill, any cheaper alternative?

MiFi is not a long term solution if permanently placed at home.
Well, try cheaper options like Huawei B525 and Huawei E5186.

cheapest is b310 ready mod rm15x~rm2xx.
got ppl selling old model too b593u-12 2nd hand. rm120, adaptor add rm20.

I just got my sim activated. But all my speedtest results are just 20mbps DL. I'm inside LTE A coverage and pakai ipong xs max. Is that normal as I seen other forumers are getting 70mbps+

How many bars of signal are you getting?

Are you in a densely populated area? Both of this will impact speed.

3 bars out of 4. Not really dense area, just normal terrace housing area.. and when I look at the speedtest, I felt like the speed is being capped at 20mbps. Is there anyway to find out?

Hard to say, maybe some areas are congested.

do check which band u connected, 4G+ or 4G.
if 4g, u might connected between b3/b7/b8

ipong only shows 4G. it will never show whether is 4G or 4G+

not really. sometimes it just wont run at 4G+ even u are in 4G+ area lol....

i'm using b618. if auto i might connected to b8 only with good signal too. as u know b8 the slowest among all.

i manually force b3+b7, once modem is run 4G+, then set back to auto it will back to 4G+ auto...

There is almost always a difference between what our smartphone gets and what is captured by modem.
Quite regularly reading from my phone only shows 2-5 Mbps but from modem can get 50-60 Mbps.
I believe one of the reasons is that my smartphone can not lock on specific bands and I can force my modem to do so.

my parents using the shitmyx 4mbps and paying RM 140+ per month.. enough is enough

expensive... can get YES, digi/umobile rm30/month plan. just get b310 mod... chepa2

what's the purpose of the mod? faster speed?
