QUOTE(cr0n05 @ Oct 21 2019, 11:33 AM) Anyone face issue that need to restart router, it always lost internet connection few hours of usage. Also, current package is 500mbps. But test speed never reflex the speed. Is it because the speed is bottlenecked by the ancient router? Hi, which router are you currently using ? |

QUOTE(lurkingaround @ Oct 23 2019, 01:03 PM) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_optical_network Hi, thank you for the great sharing.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10G-PON TM has a monopoly on the Fiber-optic HSBB network in the whole of West Malaysia, like it did with the old Copper-line network for telephone/dial-up Internet/Streamyx-ADSL services. The Federal government has required TM to sell its Fiber bandwidth to Time Fiber(= high-rise only), Maxis Fiber and Celcom Fiber at reasonable prices; and also to provide back-end Fiber bandwidth to all mobile telcos for Internet data at reasonable prices. How do Unifi Fiber, Time Fiber, Maxis Fiber and Celcom Fiber share TM's HSBB Fiber bandwidth.? As per above links, for example, TM has only ONE fiber-optic cable running on the telephone poles at the back of link houses. Using 10GPON/XGPON technology, TM can provide service to 32 Fiber subscribers sharing the single fiber network's 10Gbps bandwidth = about 300Mbps per subscriber, ie 10,000Mbps divided by 32 subscribers. ....... This Fiber service is on a 1st-come-1st-serve basis. If all the 32 available Fiber ports have already been subscribed to Unifi Fiber, then Maxis Fiber and Celcom Fiber will have to wait, eg wait for cancellation by existing Unifi Fiber subscribers. 10G-PON/XG-PON can service a maximum of 128 subscribers, in theory, ie by adding expensive Fiber network splitter equipment. I think the Fiber ISPs are still sticking to the old G-PON's maximum 32 subscribers limit. If 128 subscribers sharing only 10Gbps bandwidth(= 80Mbps per subcriber), the Fiber ISPs cannot offer 1Gbps plans or give free upgrades to 800Mbps. Very often, there are more than 40 link houses in one row but only 32 of them can get Fiber service = all 32 Fiber ports often already taken up in well-established Tamans = no Fiber port available. This situation of lack of Fiber ports also applies to high-rise buildings serviced by Time Fiber. If Time Fiber over-sells the 10Gbps bandwidth of 10G-PON, eg maxed-out all the 32 Fiber ports with 1Gbps plans or 64 Fiber ports with 500Mbps plans = 32Gbps needed = over-capacity of the single Fiber network = bandwidth bottle-necks created at TM's HSBB Fiber connection point with Time Fiber = excess Time Fiber ports auto-disconnected by TM when there is network congestion. ....... TM Unifi Fiber may also be doing the same, ie overselling bandwidth but TM can easily do reconnection of auto-disconnected Fiber ports after network congestion, not Time Fiber. This is similar to airlines over-booking seats on flights to maximize profits = those last few passengers who checked-in late may have to be put on a later flight. . . In old Tamans of more than 10 years old, there are also the old Copper network for telephones and Streamyx-ADSL/Unifi Lite service available, co-existing with the Fiber network. All the link houses can also subscribe to this service because each link house has a Copper port, eg when no Fiber ports are available. ADSL= maximum 12Mbps only, depending on distance to the telephone exchange. TM still has a monopoly on the old Copper network. ....... In newer Tamans, there is only Fiber network available(either from TM, Maxis or Time), ie no more TM's Copper network = if no Fiber ports available, can only try 4G LTE mobile broadband from mobile telcos - hopefully got coverage. Hence, TM is also pushing out 4G LTE Unifi Air. The above situation also applies to old and new high-rise buildings, eg TM Unifi Copper VDSL and Time Fiber are often available for old buildings. There are quite a number of points mentioned above differ from the real situation.... but sorry we will leave that sharing during coffee session if anyone wants to know more detail. Thanks. |

QUOTE(blaze91 @ Oct 25 2019, 02:23 PM) Hi Bro,Few things you can try : 1) Make sure while you are doing the speedtest, there are no other computers/devices sharing the Internet. 2) Please clear all your browser cache/temporary files/cookies and test. Recommended to use Firefox/Safari. 3) Make sure any backend running services are turned off on your computer. 4) Make sure Antivirus/Firewall/Internet Security software are also turned off. Thanks. |

QUOTE(CCK1800 @ Oct 26 2019, 05:56 PM) Hi guys, not sure whether this question has been asked before because this is my first time posting on this forum. Recently, I saw someone was putting TIME optical fibre cable below my house as you guys can see from the image below. Thus, does it mean that TIME fibre service will soon be available in my area right? Hi,Fyi, I live in an apartment which has been fully covered by Unifi fibre service and I wonder since there is Unifi fibre service in my area, is it still possible for TIME fibre service to come in? ![]() Yes it is very likely, to further confirm, please kindly check with your building management. Thanks. |

QUOTE(pongkes @ Oct 28 2019, 08:01 AM) Hi Hi,I am currently with time broadband. I w as trying to replace the router provided by Time with the router provided by unifi (archer ac1200) . Seem unable to get the connection. Anyone can help of there is any step missing? Usually Router provided by Unifi will have VLAN preconfigured, you need to perform a hard reset and then reconfigure your TIME credentials into it (without any VLAN). Thanks. |

QUOTE(ameenskywalker @ Oct 28 2019, 08:23 PM) Hello, i recently changed my ISP to Time and i notice my devices are having trouble with my paid DNS services (Tested with Getflix, Unotelly and Unlocator). Hi, please kindly screenshot your router settings page & pm/email to me.I tried to changed DNS at device level but when verify with the service, DNS test failed. Is it that this DIR-882 are overriding device DNS ? I didn't encounter this before with my Unifi. Anyone here use DNS for US Netflix/Hulu/Fubo before ? Have you tried configuring in the router ? Thanks. |

Hi, we chat offline.I feel like time really don't want to get their hands dirty with landed residential fibre as the earning efficiency really not as good as high rise. LOL....Not really...landed property if properly designed, it's as good as high rise. |
