Either. Wonder if the router comes with a firmware for TIME users that is different from the offical router firmware from TP-Link. Will give it a spin and see how it goes.
*
Hi, at this moment please stick to the current firmware from TIME, we are doing real on-site testing and recording down some bugs. And will feedback for another batch of firmware upgrade, but that will take some time.

Thanks.

Hey guys, am on the 500mbps plan and was using a Asus AC1200HP router until a default update (yes recommended by Asus) bricked it, will try to recover the modem. But in the event it's bricked, Is the EC230 any good? Or should I invest in something that's better?

At the moment, using the stock ZTE.
*
Hi, we are still doing real case on-site testing, so far it's performing fairly better than Archer C1200 in terms of Wifi signal coverage, anyway we did find some bugs on the wifi configurations.

Let your budget and house size do the decision.

Thanks.

Yea, found out their price is the cheapest.
I live in a studio housing, less than 500sq and I'm the only one using the internet.
So am thinking if I really need 500mbps or can downgrade to 100mbps ... what are your thoughts & recommendation?
*
I see, 100Mbps is pretty sufficient for normal users.

Thanks.

I registered on 21 July (Sunday), my appointment confirmed on 29th July 10am is it normal to wait for 7 days for appointment?
It depends on the slots availability, usually practically between 3--7 days if port is available.

Another question, I'm using ASUS AC86U router, may I know how to configure it? Is it just put in PPPoe details then connect straightly? Do it need other configuration like Unifi (Apply IPTV setting to get connection active)
*
You need the PPPOE credentials & there is no need to set any VLAN like Unifi. Unless you are on IPTV, which we will preset for you.

Thanks.

Hi Guys,

First post in the thread. Just prematurely terminated Maxis homefibre due to poor customer service and technical support.
Looking for new ISP now.
What's available in my building were Maxis, Time and unifi. Time, of course being the fastest and cheapest.

Need some of your opinion here. Hows the TIME internet reliability and technical support? I'm from Johor, postcode 79250

Thanks,
S

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in TIME Fibre.

Not to go into comparison.

If you are staying in a building/landed residential area with prelaid fibre infra, "100% Fibre" is no longer an outstanding extra advantage for TIME as the rest of the providers in the market is running on the same methodology.
Nevertheless, as a sharing, we have been with TIME since 2009 as a User, Installer & Project, we'd say that though it's not full proof, but the line quality, pricing & support is fairly promising.

Thanks.

you are the distributor for which area? Mainly PG & Klang Valley, but we could serve other states customers as well.

Just installed TIME 1Gbps for another house today, short review ahead:

Super fast service by jjj2 once again. I registered on 21st July and got it installed by noon today (26th July).

Took the technician under 30 minutes to setup properly as condo already comes with fibre. The technician came earlier to sort out the connection at the MDF room.

Got the D-Link DIR-882 router with special ISP firmware. It is a decent router but I swapped to my ASUS router right away.

Your mileage may vary depending on the installer you have. wink.gif

EDIT: Letting go the DIR-882, PM me if interested.

Thanks Bro, glad everything is on track now smile.gif

Hi, is 500Mbps overkill for me?

I have 5 people in the house sharing. I'm a heavy gamer and have torrent download simultaneously. My friends normally use Netflix or some other TV show streaming website, but no gaming.

I'm in a dilemma right now.. to get 100Mbps OR 500Mbps?

Please advise.

edit: given the price difference is RM40 per month. will you recommend the 500Mbps over 100Mbps? But if it's overkill then I will opt for 100Mbps for sure.
*
Hi, go for 500Mbps smile.gif

I apologise in advance if I offend anyone by what I am about to say. I'm truly so fed up, angry, and frustrated with TIME ever since I had it installed. As much as I despised the various aspects of UniFi, my experience with TIME is worse. I've come to regret my decision of switching over to TIME. In my eagerness, I've ignored the various complaints in this thread and dismissed the bad experiences that I've heard from some neighbours etc. I thought they were overreacting. But it turns out that their complaints were legitimate and I'm the idiot.

From the beginning, I've had troubles with TIME. The installation was delayed multiple times (and I had to take leave multiple times to accommodate them just to get it done). It was an utter mess. I should have taken that as a sign of trouble to come but once again, I dismissed that red flag. Then, once installed, the signal from the router was ridiculously weak in some spots in the condo and in these spots, there is no massive wall blocking the coverage nor are they far from the router. Yes, I am aware that 5GHz is not wide enough while 2.4GHZ is better for wider coverage but it doesn't make a difference. Btw the issues (frequent disconnection, slower speed etc.) are worse at night.

I understand that many have suggested a change of router but the very fact that one is expected to change the stock router to even receive a decent (not asking for perfect) connection is absolutely unreasonable and unfair to the customer. From the very start, the stock router has not been the most stable or reliable of devices. Why is this defective and unstable router given to the customer in the first place? I'm not even asking for super fast connection, just stable to begin with. What's the use of a fast connection if it's essentially unstable??

Since the night before, the router keeps disconnecting and restarting by itself, over and over again--with intervals of 15+ minutes at a time. No amount of resets or restarts helped. It's driving me insane with frustration. Mind you, this is only less than three months into the contract.

When I called CS, I was given acknowledgement that it could be a hardware issue and the technical dept will give me a call back. I never got that call back until I called CS again hours later. This time, CS told me that they cannot promise me a timeline of when the technician will come over. I had to plead with them to put in an expedited request because I need the internet connection for work purposes.

When I finally got a call from a technician, he was the most unprofessional technician I have ever encountered. He is completely unaware of the details of my problem and I had to brief him ALL OVER AGAIN. What is the point of the report then? He refused to come over today or even tomorrow and he can't even promise the time on Monday. So, what am I supposed to do? Just drop everything at work immediately and rush home at ANY time within minutes? I, as a paying customer, had to beg him to come tomorrow and he finally agreed.

I'm utterly shocked at the unprofessionalism and incompetence of TIME CS and technicians. I thought UniFi was bad but my goodness, TIME is worse.

Hi, sorry to hear what you are facing...

Could we know which Router are you using ? If possible, please sketch your unit layout so that we could assist in the router's positioning, or with other solutions.
When the SI arrives today, he should already received a ticket work order of what to do from the Technical Support, you can counter check whether he has done all those things.

Things you may need to check :
1) Optical Fibre reading before plug-in to the ONU & what is the reading detected by the ONU.
2) Router is updated with Latest firmware.
3) If the router already running on the latest firmware, get him to call TS to request to change a new router (only under warranty).

If you need help, feel free to give me a call, I'll try my best to assist.

Thanks.

I received a call from a self proclaimed sales guy that he is able to help me switch from my unifi to TIME subscription with free router upgrade and no extra 1 month deposit. Do you guys think it is genuine? Or does't it has extra cost? I was planning to sign up through the official TIME website but i noticed I have to pay almost RM400 for the router separately, on the other hand the sales is offering me a free router....
*
Hi, for any new subscription either new signup or switching over from other providers, you will be given a Router & a ONU... I don't understand why you need to pay RM400 separately ?

Thanks.
