Recently subscribed to TIME 500mb/s and come with 1 unit of MESH.

Current set up:
Router - Huawei OptiXstar HG8145X6
Mesh - Huawei EchoLife WA8021V5

Condo roughly about 1,800sqf but then when do speed test on 2.4GHz and 5GHz both result disappointed. Even the mesh next to my laptop but test showing max 100mbps only.

Question is:-

1. Should I upgrade the router and mesh to after market brand? What is the best model? Please suggest.
2. Why when I use LAN take from the Mesh, max only can get 80mbps?

If it cost no more than RM299 for this new 2Gbps plan, may consider. But for RM379 and 500Mbps upload, not worth it.

how to add my own mesh router to HG8145X6?

Any special setting to change? or just disable the wifi in HG8145X6? then i just connect LAN cable from HG8145X6 to my mesh router?

Cannot use the Huawei modem as bridge mode and buy another WiFi 6e router since it have a dedicated 2.5G LAN port built in?

Tenda router.. so i need to set the HG8145X6 to AP mode? then connect them using LAN right? so that my own mesh will work..

But I wonder why did they did not set every package have the same modem?
If they are on the budget, at least give the 2 Gbps modem to 1 Gbps users.
Kinda weird they are not able to take advantage the full speed of 1 Gbps since 2 Gbps are able to get full speed of 2 Gbps.

What I saw, AT&T USA give the same SFP 5 Gbps modem for all customers whether you are on 300 Mbps or on the most extreme 5 Gbps package.

How about HG8145X6? Need to set it to AP mode as well?

Plan to only use it as main "modem" without the mesh router.. my own tenda mesh will be the main wifi..

If whole house possible to get 1gbps is even better.

But now most of the time im on my s22 ultra. If need to change router, what router u recommend and how to set it up?

Also, my mi box s wifi 5ghz keep on disconnecting, i have no problem with 2.4ghz. How to solve this? Thanks

Guys, anyone know how much it cost to replace old BTU/ONT (huawei white color 1)  from TIME ?
Cause mine kinda faulty, the power wire very lose, if accidentally ter touch the cable port, it wont turn on unless i keep twisting the head.

HG8240H. I dont think its under warranty anymore, but then again i dont know whats the warranty duration. Been subscriber since 2016, but never renewed my contract.

I asked TIME in their FB chat, they said RM400 for the modem. Or renew my contract 
Yes, total replacement is RM400. If you signup a new contract, then you will get latest devices.

Currently im on DIR 882 and its perfectly working fine for my devices, can get around 500-600+ mbps on wifi 5ghz depending on which device i use.

renewing option, making me read some posts here about the router being offered by TIME for WIFI6 / HG8145X6. Kinda scared to renew to get a locked router from ISP/TIME.

Actually was gonna invest on new WIFI6 router myself but now that modem is acting weird. 

Time technician came to my house to replace the old tplink router to HG8145X6 which is connected to the ONU. Is there any advantage to configure the HG8145X6 as ONT compared to my current setup?

I do prefer a standalone modem and the liberty of choosing my own router. For instance Time imposes that model to you where there's no guest network and they have even changed the config/UI compared to standard Huawei. And based on my usage it slows down web browsing (ref one of my previous post).
Anyway it's still good to get as it's free 🐱

Hi all, I plan to get the 500Mbps package but need some professional input to verify my set up.

Some info:
- I am moving to my new condo unit in a few week's time, the unit's size is 1200sqft
- My brother plans to rent another condo unit on the same floor as mine, unit size around 1200sqft too
- Distance between my unit and my brother's unit could be 30 - 50meters

We plan to get the 500Mbps package, 2 units of TP-AX20 (TP1800) and get management's approval to pull LAN cables to connect both our routers.
Is this an ideal set up or is there a better alternative? Would greatly appreciate any help!

Currently TIME provide with modem & router as single (combo) unit. I eying at NetGear Nighthawk series and all of them are Router only.
Can I split the modem to stand alone unit? How? What brand?
Yes, you can. apart setting your Netgear as AP (defeat the purpose), you can request the CS to push in the Bridge Mode profile, the Huawei X6 will be functioning as Bridge Mode ONT, by passing all the Routing functions to your router.

The reason you are getting 5xMbps when connected via wireless, most probably they set it up as bandsteering combining 2.4GH & 5GHz.
You can login to the X6 and go to 5GHz Settings there to disable the bandsteering.

If you are setting your Netgear router as AP to hook up to the X6 as recommended by Time, that will defeat the purpose of getting such a good router.
So the proper way is to set X6 as bridge mode & let your Netgear Router handle all the routing.

Dear sifu, for some reason, I hv to use Timedotcom DNS server but I cannot find it anywhere. I asked the technician, they only know 8.8.8.8. Google also not found, any one know the DNS IP?  Thank you
