Yes, I heard the DIR-850L been reported as having lots of problems for people, but as mentioned, I haven't had any problems until the upgrade. I think it even held a connection for almost 3 months once, maintaining the same IP address, and only got rebooted because I changed the cabinet top it was sitting on.

Yes, I bought the Archer C6 for RM199 as part of the Lazada 11.11 Sale. Just waiting for it to arrive.
*
Great to hear that you bought the latest product.
Do test it out. I hope is better than the stock C1200 which TIME gives.

Thanks.

Honestly, I only bought the C6 instead of the C7, because of the review on blacktubi's site and his recommendation here.

It's much cheaper, and I will be pleased if it works well enough for a wired LAN connection.

Also hope it's easy to set up for TIME Broadband, as I've not done a router change before. Just have the PPPoE username and password. Anything extra to set up and I'll have to muddle through.
*
Oh OK. As what I ask the TP-Link, they said C6 have better wireless chip and coverage than C1200.
You're on 500Mbps plan right?

It is easy to setup for TIME. Just key in PPPOE details and you are good to go.
Extra things which is optional like changing the DNS to Google.
And IPv6.

I set DNS both IPv4 and IPv6 to Google DNS.

Thanks.

but i downgraded from 500Mbps to 100Mbps and still face the same problem. Do u recommend that I change the router also?
*
Hi, if you feel the router is making you worse then change it.

Suggest you to get Archer C6.
Don't get C1200 which is not really stable.

Thanks.

*
Hi, wait for bro tritonite to test out the router.
BTW, I'm using 3rd-party router which is Archer C9.
Before that is the cacat Wireless N ZTE Router.
I'm on 500Mbps line.

I heard somewhere that I need to find the 'NAT Boost' setting somewhere and make sure it's enabled for maximise the wifi and LAN speeds.

Does this still apply the latest TP-Link routers?
*
Yes, mine is enabled itself.

Most TP-Link Routers have this feature that must be enabled.
Other brand different name. As SilentVampire mentioned that NAT Boost must be enabled.
Mostly all enabled by default. Enable it manually if it is not enabled.

Thanks.

got my DIR 882 from TIME. But it seems like the wireless connection keep disconnected every 15 to 20 min. Its annoying even though it auto reconnects back. Please advice is it anything to do with the firmware? Current firmware is 3.5.8TT. Please advice
*
Since from day one?

You bought or subscribe/upgrade to 1Gbps?
For TIME DIR-882 firmware is different with firmware with D-Link. TIME DIR-882 uses own modified TIME firmware.

How many devices connected?

Thanks

I was previously on the 100Mbps package before the recent free upgrade to the 500Mbps package.

Still using the original hardware that TIME provided:
1) Huawei HG8250H GPON terminal
2) D-Link AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router (300-867 Mbps) - the one that looks like a cylinder tower

This area is not really my forte, but I do know that with a 400% increase in speed, the current hardware setup may be obsolete and I'm not getting the most out of the 500 Mbps connection.

Is the current hardware sufficient?

If not, please give me some upgrade recommendations to fully utilize the 500 Mbps speed.... My home is a 1200sqft condo unit, mostly using 2 android tv boxes and a couple of mobile devices. May consider some smart home devices down the road.

Much appreciated!
*
Hi, you're using the D-Link DIR-850L cylinder type?
This routers have a lot of issues after speed upgrade to 500Mbps.

May I know what's your budget?
Your receiving devices must have 5GHz support in order to utilize the 500Mbps speed.

Let me know what's your android box model?
MY TV box under 5GHz can get around 200 - 300Mbps.

Thanks.

Ever since the speed upgrades, I have been noticing a lot of total connection loss to my condo.

Seems to happen more frequently at night, if I download a large file, then the connection will drop completely in my entire house, wired , wireless, different access points, totally gone.

Usually the connection will re-establish itself after 15-30 mins, occasionally if I reset the modem, it will reconnect quicker.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?  I am in Bangsar.
*
Which router that you're currently using?
If you're using D-Link DIR-850L then this is a common issue that everyone is facing.

QUOTE(The Chauvinist @ Nov 16 2018, 03:04 PM)
Yup. That's the model. Been noticing the problems too.
Around RM500ish should be fine if it's worth the upgrade. Mostly a few phones/tablets streaming stuff. Laptop occasionally downloading large files.
My tv boxes are china boxes, 2.4GHz only. How much difference is 2.4GHz at 100 Mbps vs 5GHz at 500 Mbps? May consider upgrading my boxes too if it's worth the 5GHz and 500 Mbps... I mainly watch sports, movies, tv series and youtube.
*
The router that you're using have a lot of issues and vulnerable attack.
You may get the Archer C7, Archer C9 or Tenda AC18 for your situation. You may order from OOKAS.
I'm using Archer C9.

Your TV box cannot utilize the full 500Mbps speed.
I would recommend you to upgrade.
If got 5GHz devices then worth to upgrade because 2.4GHz speed will improve a bit only and less than 100Mbps.

Thanks

Hi, I've recently purchased Amplifi HD to replace my default D-Link DIR-850L provided by time.

I'm having hard time setting up the Amplifi HD. It will auto-disconnect and says can't detect the internet.

I've tried a few ways, can't seem to get it work.

Need help.
*

Thanks for recommendations. Did a spec comparison and the Tenda AC18 seems to have impressive specs for it's price point. How satisfied are you with the Archer C9's performance?

How about the modem? Huawei HG8250H GPON still up to the task for 500 Mbps?
*
The modem cannot be replaced but it supports 1Gbps.

You may perform LAN Connection to test whether you're getting full speed.

I'm able to get 300 - 400Mbps on 5GHz nearest to the router.
My Archer C9 is very old which is V2.
I'm very happy with my Archer C9. No disconnection issues at all. No auto restart.
The latest hardware is V5.
There's one forumer here bro alexleow is using Archer C9 V5 which I recommended him. He managed to get full 500Mbps on 5GHz Wi-Fi.

Thanks

yeah, always get dc when i download something.. sometimes the router will automatic restart for no reason
*
Hi, how many devices connected?

I suppose overload and overheating as this C1200 RAM is very less.
You're on 500Mbps? I may suggest you to upgrade if you cannot stand with the router that you're using.

Thanks

Hi guys, I'm new to Time, just got it install last week, but these few days the connection has been very bad, as it was not stable, it will automatically disconnect after 2-3 minutes use, so it was like on for 2-3 minutes...then offline for 2-3 minutes, I did try everything I can to restart the modem and router and factory reset the router, but still the same issue happen. I check on the modem, whenever my connection is off, the PON light on my modem will start blinking. This is very annoying, I did call customer service and they help me to restart my connection, but same thing still happen, then customer service told me is fiber issue and will arrange for technician to call me, but after 3 days still no one call me.

The router I using is Archer C1200 and my plan is 500mbps, hope some of the master here can help me with this issue.
*
Hi. May I know which area are you in?

If the LOS is blinking means no Fiber signal coming through the router. Factory reset still cannot solve?

Try to create an email report.

Thanks

Yes, the C1200 will show red globe time to time, so it's up and down all the time, this happen around 4 days ago, it was fine before that, will it be the issue of I change the DNS to Google DNS? And will it be because I connect 14 smart light buld and cause the internet down?
*
Hi. 14 Smart Light Bulbs connect to the router?
What's the total devices are connected to the router including smart light bulbs?

Try changing DNS to Google DNS.

Thanks.

*
The PON steady on all the time?
Normal is only LAN 1 blinking only.

The router overloaded because the stock router's RAM is very less. Try to connect one device on one day and try.
If no problems with only one device then it is overloaded.

If still not satisfy with your stock router. I suggest you to get Tenda AC18.

Thanks.

Let me check mine and see.
Need to see whether PON should be blinking or steady on.

Thanks
