Initial firmware out of the box is version 1.0.1 released on 2018.08.09

You’ll need to use the Chinese version of the 70Mai app in order to add the 70Mai Pro as the Google Play Store version can only add the 70Mai dashcam. You can scan the QR codes here (click here) for the Chinese version 70Mai app.

Videos
Recorded in 2592×1944 30fps using H.265 with an overall bit rate of 19.6 Mb/s.

Recorded in 2560×1440 30fps using H.265 with an overall bit rate of 22.4 Mb/s.

Final thoughts
The first impression I got when I saw the 70Mai Pro is this looks like a Thinkware dashcam.

The 70Mai Pro is a good camera which records with good quality. The 1944p is in 4:3 aspect ratio seems a bit weird for modern dashcams but you can record more vertically though.

You'll need to change to H.265 encoding in order to record in 1440p & 1944p.

Unable to try out the de-fog features as the weather didn’t permit to test this.

That's a 2-wires hardwire kit. It's more for powering the dashcam without parking mode.

Here are the 3-wires hardwire kit for 70mai Pro in Tmall

Thanks boss! I thought they were the same.

So these cables just needs to be tapped into the fuse box right? Afraid will void warranty if cut cable etc.

The ADAS and e-dog requires the GPS module.

e-dog will notify you when you drive too fast and where got speed trap but only for in China.

Thanks for the review bro.
Appreciate your hardwork.
Btw, do you know how the 24/7 recording works?
I plan to upgrade my current non-pro version to this pro version.
Do you think the upgrade worth it?

I think this 70Mai dashcam is a super budget dashcam below RM200 (US$50) price range with Sony IMX323 sensor. The video quality is crisp and clear.

I don't have the chance to try out the voice command yet as if not mistaken have to be in Mandarin. Will test later when have time.

It's triggered by the g-sensor.

It can run off the 500mAh battery but may only last about 15-30 minutes of recording.

There is a 70mai hardwire kit available for the parking mode.

Maybe use the 70mai dashcam as a rear dashcam?

I did't see the option for voice command in the app, manual or the website.

Both are actually from the same manufacturer. 70mai is under Mijia.

Hardwire is to power the dashcam when engine is off for parking mode (BATT) then power on when engine is on (ACC) for normal recording. This is 3 wires hardwire kit function.

I usually won't recommend getting a lithium battery dashcam in hot countries. Always go for supercapacitor dashcams.

Better quality lithium batteries have better durability and maybe can last about 1.5 - 2 years or so. But will also fail.

Can't charge anymore. Can't save the settings and last video file.

Like all lithium battery, it might get bloated or leaking or worst case scenario - explodes.

Hi All, been using this for 2 weeks now.
The parking mode as tested works well and I got voice prompted when switch on car of there is new video for parking mode. (tested with high sensitivity G sensor). Bought it from Lazada around RM 249, the video downloaded can easily be play with sound inside video which Mai 70 video can't hear anything after downloaded.

You stick the electrostatic film on the windscreen then stick the 70mai Pro on it to prevent damaging your tint/windscreen.

Hey lazada is selling for 209 but china version...

Can we flash it to English firmware?
*
Scared will be the same it will be like the 70mai dashcam, chinese version has 64GB flash memory and international has 128GB flash memory. Until now the english firmware can't be flashed into the chinese version.

You won't go wrong with Evo Plus. Ultra A1 maybe I'll get a 64GB to test and see in a dashcam.

Can you teach how to set up parking mode..? means you didnt use hardwire kit right..?

Just have to enable parking surveillance on the 70mai Pro or in the app. The internal 500mAh lithium-ion battery can run for a while. I estimate about 30 minutes+-.

It will go into standby mode until the g sensor triggers then will record for 20 or 30 seconds.

You can ask Lazada for the receipt via Lazada Chat and they will email to you.

But do take note that Samsung and other cards manufacturer will void the warranty when these cards are used in dashcam or IP cams.

Only those High Endurance cards won't void but more expensive.

Not sure as never claim warranty before for my cards. As I roughly expect them to die in about 2-3 years time used in dashcams.

2 wires to power the dashcam when engine starts only.

3 wires does what 2 wires do and also power the dashcam when engine off for parking mode.

Depends on the dashcam for any voltage cutoff, etc. Another is to use iron phosphate battery to power the dashcam for parking mode. But not cheap. Safer than lithium ion powerbanks.

Thanks man for your kind reply. Btw u reckon the 2 wire cables is sufficient for 70mai pro? Because the GPS add-on will enable recording when collision happen during parking if I'm not mistaken. I didn't see it states always on recording available for 70mai pro

GPS is more for the ADAS like lane departure, front vehicle collision warning, etc.

3 wires hardwire is needed for the parking mode.

Buy the international version. Or get the English firmware and see can flash into the Chinese version or not? But be careful as might brick it.

Sandisk Ultra can't record 4K in true 4K cams. Will get error as the write speed is too slow. Sandisk Extreme series can as the write speed is faster.

I don't have a dashcam that can record in 4K so I can't answer that.

I don't use Sandisk Ultra cards as they fail very fast used in dashcams. I'm mostly using Samsung Evo Plus cards. No issues.

2K videos maybe can record about 4-5 hours in a 64GB card.

Hi, I had just got mine and is setting it up. Mine is the Chinese version, but the app is in English. Now, I can't read much Mandarin. Can I check with you that all the settings on the dashcam are available on the app itself? That means, there is no need for me to change the firmware to English and can just use it from the app, yes? Probably the only disadvantage to this is that the dashcam voice will still be in Mandarin.

Finally managed to calibrate it successfully via alot of trial and error. But after calibrated it successfully, if I use it for the subsequent times, sometimes I need to drive like 15-30 mins before the ADAS starts working.

70mai Pro already spare some power inside the battery when you shut off your engine. The parking mode will start to monitor after 20 minutes and will capture 1 minute of video when detected any shock. Ive tested it, but not sure if the dashcam can hold 24hours parking mode without power module

If can, the lens should be at the center of the windscreen.

If using ADAS, it requires the lens to be center of the windscreen and can view some part of the bonnet.

You'll have to search in Lazada or Shopee. English version is more expensive than China version.

eDog that works in China only.

Not sure about the specs though. Maybe it will be like the 70mai dashcam as China and international have different hardware specs.

32GB about 2-3 hours of drive video only.

Depends on how long you want to keep. 64GB is about 5-6 hours.

Please share if anyone managed to flash the Chinese version to an English firmware. Thanks!
*
I have a theory here on how to obtain the file but this is not guaranteed, but feel free to discuss

I think first step we need is someone with an English version which has not been updated yet
Once a new update is available, that person should download the update bin file to their device
However, he/she should not reboot the dashcam after downloading the update, just shut it off so the updating process won't happen (the update will happen during the next reboot and might wipe out the update bin file).
He/she should be able to copy out the english version of the "SD_CarDV.bin"/update file which was downloaded off 70mai's update server
Once copied out and shared, we should be able to flash it to the English firmware using that file

Hi have you updated your unit?
Can you do us a favor by sharing the update .bin file if there's an update available?

I'm guessing if there's a new update, your phone will download the english/international version of the update bin file and upload it to your dashcam.
However, in order for you to share with us the update bin file, we need you to shut down the dashcam, copy the update bin file from your microsd card and upload it here.
If you were to reboot immediately after the update bin file has been uploaded to your device, the updating process will proceed and the update bin file might be removed after the update.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the update bin file requested from your international unit is exactly what we need
If you happen to have an update pending, do download the update bin file, then shutdown the device (don't reboot) copy it out and share with us. Thanks!

Meanwhile, 1 min video is the only available setting for all 70mai dash cam

China version have e-Dog which works in China only.

Not about the memory size as the 70mai dashcam have a larger memory for international version than China version.

if you happen download the update file, just copy the .bin file from your micro sd card. If not mistaken, it should be named "SD_CarDV.bin".
However, if the update has happened already (ie, you have rebooted after the update file has been uploaded to your dashcam), there is a high possibility that the .bin file will not be there anymore.

blurjoey
what's your thought on this? any idea it'll work since you mentioned that the hardware spec is different between China and international version?

I'm waiting for someone to open up both version to see the insides.

If same hardware specs then can flash. If not, it might brick.

You can off the parking mode in the 70mai Pro settings also

ACC & BATT don't work when Ground is not connected. Not sure if ACC will work when BATT is not connected.

Actually the fuses is either ACC or BATT. You'll need to with a tester.

Like this

BATT fuse will light up when engine is off. ACC fuse don't but only lights up when engine is on.

ok so i bought the gps module few weeks ago at very cheap price compared to now on lazada...hmmm actually the ADAS function is decent compared to XiaoYi dash cam's ADAS, mostly 80-90% accurate for front collision warning, moving away from the lane, and front vehicle start moving...E-dog is not usable in malaysia at the moment, not sure will update in the future or not...for me, i got it at around RM50, kinda worth for ADAS imo

It came with 2 pcs plastic right? The plastic can be remove and replace a new one. If you used both, then you can buy any phone screen protector and place at windscreen before stick your dashcam.
If you place the dashcam directly to your windscreen, then you need to cut the glue with pen knife. Worst thing if you have tinted on your windscreen... Then maybe somebody else can advise

Hi, already purchase 1 but not under promotion. RM 69 I think. Can you share how does the ADAS work? Is it beeping or voice warning? If you can share a video, it will be great. Maybe I can see some tips how to arrange the dashcam so the ADAS will work

Use a towel put outside of the windscreen over the mount. Pour hot water on the towel. Let it sit for a while there.

Heat makes the glue softer a bit so easier to take off.

Ya, most probably. That was the same USB port that I used for Yi Dashcam. Well, I guess Yi doesn't need a high power input. One more question, does any of you experience the app to be in a hung state every now and then? I am on Android, and the 70mai app is already on the latest version. Anyone can shed some lights on this?

Yes, the 70mai pro gets 2 while the 70mai dashcam gets 1.

Anyway, we are in the 70mai pro thread here.

I'm still using the Version 1.1.7.
After update to latest version, the app can't find the dashcam.

Try remove the pair dashcam and try to add again?

Or factory reset the 70mai dashcam and try again?

Does it come with distributer sticker on the packaging of the sandisk? Kind of like look fake to me. Where you bought it? The sandisk logo is red color or orange color?

Try testing the Sandisk HE with H2testw.

Sandisk HE cards are stated with read/write speed of up to 20MB/s which is not fast enough for some dashcams.

*
The Chinese update comes in a zip file format, n after update, the zip file is still in my phone until I delete it manually.

So now we need to wait English ver update so that we can give it a try. Using the "hopefully" work method

I have the Adas module. frankly it is useless and i dont recommend.
When Adas is on, any lane switch across white lines it will speak , will become annoying. Same goes to front car collision warning. If car moves it tells you, when you are trailing a car it tells you. It all depends on how far or near you set your camera to aim. Maybe I should off the warning sound but I dont see any.
The 'watch dog' or spped camera alert I dont know how to use or only applicable in china.

Or maybe i should set ADAS on only during long distance driving.

ADAS is good for when driving on highway more. In the city will have lots of false alarms. Most annoying was Yi dashcams till I turned it off.

Luckily Korean dashcam is more accurate and set to activate when reach certain speeds for some of the ADAS.

I don't think there is. I also thought it will have GPS coordinate and speed displayed, but I don't see it in the dashcam except ADAS usual prompt. BUT I haven't tried to download any video yet, so can't confirm it

It's triggered by the g-sensor.

It can run off the 500mAh battery but may only last about 15-30 minutes of recording.

There is a 70mai hardwire kit available for the parking mode.

Maybe use the 70mai dashcam as a rear dashcam?
All resolutions are in 30fps only.
I did't see the option for voice command in the app, manual or the website.

Looking for a good dashcam. Parking mode and GPS is not important to have. Should I get the Chinese version and then flash it to english myself?

There are other cheaper cams out that with basic function. What advantage does this 70mai pro have over others?

Better you go look for a dashcam that is using supercapacitor.

The 70mai Pro is using lithium battery inside. And not recommended to use in hot countries.

edit: found one that is famous with decent price for super capacitor, I guess. BlueSkySea B1W. Around RM160.

Thank you for the guide. Successfully installed the English version. The interface for dashcam changed to English, voice is in English and dashcam can accept instruction in English too! e.g. Take phote and record video (any other voice instructions?).
What I did was:
1. Download the English firmware
Thank you ttleng for the link

https://mega.nz/#!jcBhAYZI!XlYL4o9a...j7IOjcnTY9FtJjM

2. Extract to phone or PC. Extract the zip file. Take note the file needed is "UPDATE" file and not the full name file
3. Format the memory card using dashcam interface or apps
4. Shutdown the dashcam. Hold the long button at below
5. Using the memory card reader, copy "update" file directly into memory card root (don't put into any folder)
6. Place back memory card into dashcam and power on using the most right button + long below button. Release the long button once the dashcam start and release right button once the dashcam start updating the new file
7. The dashcam will change to English afterwards.

Thank you - there's no different "version" of the GPS module, right? It can fit into either our English or Chinese 70mai pro, right? And I presume the ADAS voice prompts will be in accordance to our 70mai pro version (Eng or Mand)?

ADAS feature is not very accurate, is not worth to buy it.
I own one with ADAS. Test it along highway from KL to JB.
Sometime it prompt accurately, sometime it keep quiet.
I think is the GPS detection which block it from function well.

Still a long way to go to be as accurate as Korean dashcam like Thinkware. Even the iRoad TX9 is almost as accurate as my Thinkware F800 Pro.

You'll need a tester to test which fuse is ACC and Batt.

Then fuse taps for the fuses that your car uses.

Lots of videos on Youtube.

Did you get this original 70mai 3 wires hardwire kit?

https://shopee.com.my/-ORIGINAL-70MAI-PRO-C...5420.1668434500

3 wires for parking mode use. While 2 wires is more to power the dashcam when on engine.

From what I've read, it's suggested to remove the cam if you are sure it will be parked in the sun for long hours.

This is because it runs on battery.

Nvm, i found out is a different app.
If i install the app from the 70mai website, it must tied with china number account, no matter if u are signing up a 70mai account or login via mi account.
But if you install it via playstore, it doesn't need to.

Reflection is normal for any cam.

You can get CPL filter and put on the lens. Reduce the reflection and glare a bit.

All dashcam will get hot when recording.

But the lithium-ion battery maybe can last 1-2 years in Malaysian heat.

Better to get a dashcam using a super capacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery.

Thanks for so many review, very useful at least learn lots of things.

Actually considering this vs Viofo A129, yeah I know not apple to apple comparison as Viofo dual cam and super capacitor.
Dilemma actually, as 70mai Pro looks quite good overall, and it's almost 4 times cheaper than Viofo A129.
Even if lithium break down after 2 years, you can replace it 4 times to match Viofo price. Is the battery consideration that important?

Btw, I don't park under sun 99% of the time, so exposure to sun only while driving, not sure how much that will affect lithium battery though

Please do consider if you can easily find the battery replacement in malaysia and you were able to replace it by yourself. Then no doubt 4x saving.

*
The lithium battery will start to gets faulty after around 1-2 years. You also need to consider that lithium battery might not be able to keep a charge or gets bloated or leaking or worst case explodes.

You get the A129 Duo using supercapacitor will at least guarantee it won't break down that much.

Please do consider if you can easily find the battery replacement in malaysia and you were able to replace it by yourself. Then no doubt 4x saving.

Thanks for the feedback, at first I thought no need change battery, just change the dash cam every 1-2 years is ok since it's cheap. But the time I change it, new model out, better still, instead of expecting Viofo costing about RM 800 to last 4-5 years.

But the risk of explosion and I assume potential frequent issues are quite a concern. So seems like Lithium battery is almost useless in our country.

Just curious, do most newer dash cam comes with built in battery? If not mistaken I think mine (Papago, 4 years old) doesn't have a battery.

I just gotten mine today...

70mai pro + GPS module

I am happy with those ADAS prompt etc..

But...

Why there's no GPS coordinates shown? Or need to use special software to extract the GPS coordinates?

If the battery spoil, I can remove it and it will still work as usual when I power up my car right ? Or the battery will somehow fuse the entire cam

The battery is there to provide power to save the last video file when you off your engine and save the dashcam's settings like date and time. Without it, corrupted last video file and settings reset back to factory default.

You'll need to open the dashcam to see if the battery is solder on the board or plug via a socket.

The battery should be replaceable if you know how, search for 14500 3.7V Lithium-ion Battery.

You need to figure how to stick the wire on the battery contact surface terminal point. Original is using spot welding technology to hold the wire on the battery terminal. Normal soldering wont stick on the battery terminal.
And make sure the battery is come with protection ic, a protected lithium ion

Can try if the 70mai Pro will turn on and record when you shake it but make sure the parking mode is turned on.

If got then the battery should be ok.

Use back the connector and the wire but to secure the connection between wire to battery terminal, you need to spot welding the wire terminal to battery terminal.

70mai Pro has built-in battery. The parking mode runs off the built-in battery. That's why asked you to test and see if the battery can power on when the g-sensor is activated.

Usually, the connector is held in with metal pins in the connector. No need soldering.

By right with the battery can on standby for sometime.

I'm using Aukey USB car charger to power my dashcams. Is it don't have power? Can try a phone charger and charge your 70mai Pro? But make sure it's not those USB ports with Quick Charge or Super Charge.

Secured method was only spot welding. U can try sand paper to sand off the surface on the battery terminal and dry to solder, then laminate it by wrapping like the original battery to double secure. Somehow soldering wont last long even if you success soldering.

Else just buy new one rm199 only or maybe cheaper on ramadhan sales.

Don't think 70mai will give so much customization. The video file is already locked at 1 minute laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hi guys,

Just purchased 70mai Dash Cam Pro & Samsung EVO 64gb, at one of their physical outlet last 2 days.

Tested it on long distance drive ( 7 hours ) yesterday.
Very satisfied with the performance and video quality.

One question though, after downloading the video, it prompt to view in APP album.

Is there any method we can download it ( selected video )to my iPhone ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

For android platform like Samsung smartphone,
1. Connect the app to the dash cam
2. Go to Album
3. Pick the video to be download
4. Once downloaded, check the saved video under Gallery inside the smartphone.

For iOS, it is download to APP album, and not inside Photos.
Still googling the location of the APP album.

Since the 1944 resolution is 4:3, does it make sense to use it compared to 1440 which is 16:9? Seems to just capture a lot of sky and buildings. However I wonder if using 1440 means losing detail due to lower resolution? Or is the extra resolution for 1944 just for the areas cropped out by 16:9?

I prefer the 1440p's 16:9 more than 4:3. Just the video seems taller only laugh.gif

So is there a difference in quality between the two, or is the resolution higher for the 1944 just because it is taller?

From the videos, the quality is the same. Only the 4:3 video can see more top and bottom. The coverage of the width is the same on both.

Yes. Modern dashcams will overwrite old files first when full.

Hi, no disrespect to anyone here. I see a lot of people worrying about the Malaysian heat and all. Worrying about lithium battery dying in the heat and go for other brands with supercapacitor before anything happens is a good consideration, but not a priority. It should not be the deciding factor. My friends Xiaoyi dashcams are still working after 1-2 years. The built-in battery is probably there for parking mode. Even if the battery fails, the settings will still be saved in the Rom, like your cellphones won't need to be reset every time the battery goes to 0%. With a dead or weak battery, the dashcam may still run on the car power source. It will very likely not be the battery that brick your dashcam, the microSD, software, circuits may fail sooner. looking at the photo of the Xiaomi 70MAI PRO battery, it is very unlikely that a bulky cylindrical cell battery will explode. Thinner and more compact batteries (note7) have the likelihood of shorting and exploding. I always get fat power banks with connected cylindrical cells for that reason.

The more important factor to consider is the camera lens, software (firmware whatever) and built quality. Having tested Xiaomi products, mi-bands, phones, Roborock, wifi CCTV camera, I kinda trust its frequent software updates and build quality. Sony xxx is a good lens. Better go for brands like Xiaomi and Papago, or even Xiaoyi which was ditched by Xiaomi a few years back rather than little known brands like mini0906. my Xiaoyi CCTV camera is still alive after 3.5 years. I know little about dashcams, mini0906 is probably a famous brand in the dashcam world but just do a search in Amazon and you can see it's rather notorious. with lots of bricked units right after the warranty period.

I would definitely go for Xiaomi 70MAI PRO rather than other no-name brands, be it supercapacitor, double camera, whatever, Amazon reviews show far too many mini0906 lasted for less than 6 months, not a good sign. I am tempted to go for GPS tracking, rear cam, double cams, reverse cam, music players, ADAS, GPS navigation, and all the goodies too. But just think what do you really need in a dash cam? Just a good front cam, at about 120-degree angle for optimum clarity.

Having said that, am really tempted to try out mini0906 for all its goodies.

If your friend's Yi dashcam doesn't shut down immediately after engine off then the battery is still good. My previous Yi dashcam lasted 2+ years, till the unit immediately off itself when I off the engine.

Battery which can't hold a charge anymore can't save the last video file and the settings. Saw a lot of dashcams which uses battery have these issues. Bloated batteries and Leaking was also common. Only a few cases of the battery exploding.

If you didn't know, Xiaomi actually gets other manufacturers for their products, hence Xiaomi Yi (Yi actually ditched Mi cause Yi wanted to be independent from Mi), 70Mai, Roborock, Amazfit (Mi band is by Amazfit), etc... So Xiaomi doesn't manufacture any of the products they sell with their brand on it.

Also, Yi dashcam doesn't have parking mode function.

Mini dashcams all these while has problems since the early days with the mini08xx series. Today still the same. So if you asked me to choose Mi or Mini, I would go for the Mi more.

I agree that not all will want the fancy parking mode or GPS or ADAS or wifi, etc. Yes you are also right, the most important is the lens and the Sony sensor used but using a super capacitor or a battery should be put into considerations unless you want to change dashcams every other year then it's fine.

Point taken about the supercapacitor. It's a good point. Given the choice, I would choose a Papago model with supercapacitor rather than those other brands that cost RM4xx and RM6xx.

And I know Xiaomi got an ecosystem of Manufacturers, product incubator and all that, and there is more QC than others. They do provide better support, firmware updates for many more years than other lone-wolf brands.

Just buy whichever brand you like its your monies anyway. Im not promoting my product here. Its just a alternative incase ppl dont know. Somehow all product are made in china, probably same manufacturer or common mould. They used alot of same sub contractor to save the development cost, manufacturing cost and reduce the investment cost. Sharing is caring in china. Dont think they use sony lens except the Sony cmos.

If you have a product you can always distribute under xiaomi marketing platform. Loyalty fees will do.

Guys.. For the collision setup... What does high or low mean? High meaning to say only high impact only start recording or high in term of sensitivity and record even with low impact?

Guys.. For the collision setup... What does high or low mean? High meaning to say only high impact only start recording or high in term of sensitivity and record even with low impact?
*
High sensitivity = less strong impact will trigger but sometimes the lightest impact will also trigger.

Low sensitivity = strong impact only will triggers.

The screen on the dashcam is a little small. What you can do is use the live view on phone's bigger screen to align it.

RM270+ without GPS module.
Seller just informed to send back to them for warranty claim.
And it is in English language.

So not sure it is international version or not.
Anyway it is a imported set as Mi outlet at Queenbay is not selling.

Mine worked when I used the older 70Mai app downloaded over the google play (v1.2.0). The later app (v1.3.0), it will not find the firmware upgrade.

The GPS information is stored as SRT which overlays with the video and not embedded. You need to download the content from SD card to your PC and use specific software to be able to sync the GPS info with the video.

See what size micro SD card you are using. Also, the dashcam will overwrite old files first when the micro SD card is full.

16GB about 1-1.5 hours of video. 32GB about 2-3 hours. 64GB about 5-6 hours. 128GB about 10-12 hours.

I'm interested to buy 2 units of 70Mai Pro. One for the front and the other one for the rear of my Perodua Kenari.

But I got questions.

Can the supplied USB cigarette charger powered up 2 units of 70mai Pro simultaneously?

I see in photos the manufacturer marked the first USB slot as the power source for the 70mai Pro. What about the second USB slot? Will the dashcam work if I use the second slot?

And the maximum storage is 128GB?

I never used the included USB car charger before but I'm using Aukey 4 ports USB car charger. 1 port with QC3.0 for charging my S9+ and the other 3 ports I used to power my dashcams for testing.

Usually you'll pay them and they'll accept but also depends if they know how to install or not.

The GPS mount mostly for the speed markings and the ADAS function. Depends if you need the functions or not.

No problem. Car accessories shops are more than happy to install it for you even though the dashcam is not bought from their shop. They will just charge you for the installation labour.

Max is 64GB according to specs but you can test and see if a 128GB can work or not.

Just make sure they know how to install it and not cut any wires.

3 wires don't work that way. 3 wires will detect when the engine is off or on then use the proper ACC or BATT fuse to power on the dashcam.

If you use the 2 wires, it will record non-stop even when the engine is off. Quite dangerous as the dashcam will overheat due to non-stop recording.

70mai Pro is not true parking mode dashcam as it will record the incident when the g-sensor is triggered. It' not like Korean dashcam with buffered parking mode which is recording without saving, when motion or impact is detected then it will save 15 seconds before and 15 seconds after the trigger.

GPS mount is not needed for the parking mode.

I don't have the GPS mount and hardwire kit and the parking mode still working.

GPS mount is for the ADAS features, sync time and detect travel and speed you're driving.

Wonder where you got this wrong info from.

hi guys

(1) wanna know what is the function of xiaomi 70mai pro wifi hotspot? let say if i already enabled wifi hotspot and installed the app on my phone, and my brother
drove away my car where the 70mai pro installed on it, can i just simply use the 70mai app on my phone to see what the 70mai pro record? or it must be within a distance to operate the 70mai app? sorry i know this is a stupid question.

(2) i put an electrostatic sticker on the windscreen, and then stick the camera mount on it. Can i simply peel off the sticker and then put on the another part of the windscreen? or i need to use another new sticker?

1. Only your mobile phone that has the 70mai app can connect to 70mai Pro when using its hotspot. You cannot view when someone else drove the car with the 70mai Pro far away.

2. If not mistaken, you'll need to use another sticker or get those clear road tax sticker which does the same as the electrostatic sticker

thanks to TS for prompt reply. I know this 70mai pro can operate up to the temperature 60 degree. But i used to park my car under the sun when working. can i always bring the camera away with me when i leave the car and install back when i drive the car home? i know it sounds crazy, but i just buy it, dont want this camera "die" so early.
p/s : i dont use the parking mode

The 70mai Pro can be easily removed from the mount. Slide up if not mistaken.

But scared you might forget to put the 70mai Pro back up when you get in the car or take it down.

Thought they claim can use Timelapse recording for parking mode. I have this installed but not able to locate the function actually. Checked online, seems possible but cant locate the settings.

Thanks. Just updated the firmware. The one reason I regretted buying this is now solved.
Now has speed recording

Problem with this though, the GPS location and Speed is not visible on the downloaded video. It can only be viewed on the app while streaming the video. Unless i am doing something wrong.

According to 70mai website only impact triggered parking mode. No timelapse parking mode.

https://www.70mai.com/en/dash-cam-pro/

No such settings means don't have the feature.

That's correct. Only on the app can view. Downloaded don't have the speed and GPS info. This need 70mai to put into the next firmware if they want to.

It is possible. Also most of the sellers are claiming to have it as well. Unless somehow its a function which is removed.

Read the comments. This video is edited on Final Cut Pro to be a timelapse video.

Attached Image

There was no timelapse parking mode in the first place. Those sellers don't know what they are selling.

Even in the 70mai Pro guide you posted writes only impact triggered parking mode. Nothing about timelapse parking mode.

Attached Image

But there is a new model coming soon - 70Mai Mini

user posted image

I saw in the picture got state timelapse parking mode. Have to wait for actual release then will know.

I see. Thanks alot bro. Appreciate your feedback and comments. Let's hope the new model also comes with it. I also did check with 70mai support today and they too confirm there is no timelapse function for the dash cam.

It can be viewed it the downloaded video but through the 70mai app. Not necessarily only through streaming. Yes with another video player no GPS info.

Max is 64GB according to specs but you can test and see if a 128GB can work or not.

Just make sure they know how to install it and not cut any wires.
*
Finally installed it on my car. The gps is successfully calibrated. But it only gives warning when I changed lane. It doesn't warn me when the car in front is too close or starts moving. I can see the dashcam marks the car with green box though.

What's the problem?

Once calibrated, we cannot adjust the camera position?

Spec stated input 5v 2a, so most powerbank got 5v 2a output.

Why don't just use the USB car charger to power the dashcam?

I find it a hassle to use a powerbank. What if you forgot to take the powerbank and left it in the car? What if you forgot to power on the dashcam and have an accident?

Do you mean calibration for the ADAS?

Don't have the GPS mount to test this. But maybe you can reset you 70mai Pro to factory default and setup again and see?

Can try to put your phone to high performance mode? My Samsung S9+ used to be like that before OneUI update, have to enable high-performance mode or game mode then it download faster and smooth streaming.

Can anyone advise for starter, is it good idea to get a 70mai to appreciate the features? Am thinking if its satisfying, then I shall move the 70mai to rear and buy 70mai pro for the front.
On the other hand, may I know for 70mai pro, is the dashcam to be positioned so that the driver can see the screen recording while driving or at a position that does not hinder the sight while driving?
Thanks

I figured it out!! The inteference noise are totally gone when i disabled the hotspot..if i turn it back on then the annoying noise is appeared again.so the conclusion is dun let the wifi hotspot turn on automatically while ur camera is recording..

U all free to test whether we are in the same situation or not.

In terms of specs, 70mai Pro is better than 70mai Mini.

But if you're not interested in the screen, voice control or ADAS - the 70mai Mini is good enough.

There is a 70mai Lite also.

Just note the 70mai parking mode is impacted then record video parking mode. Won't see before the impact.

Only the Mini, Lite & Pro have the above.

Hi bros,

I have just gotten myself a 70mai Pro. When I want to playback the recorded footages on my laptop, there are many files with 1 minutes recording each with about 100MB. However, when I click each of the file to play the videos, it only shows a blank screen while i can see that the video is actually playing. I have tried this on different microSD cards and all showed the same thing. The videos are recorded in MP4 formats. I don't think the videos are too heavy to load as I have a sportscam and I can easily playback videos of more than 1GB.

Please advise if anyone faced the same issue and how it got resolved. Thank you.

Try using VLC player to watch on your laptop and see.

Are you using H.265 codec to record? Some older notebook can't play H.265 well.

Got myself the 70mai buck line hardwire kit. Anyone can advice how to connect this? It has 3 cables. Will the parking mode or time lapse work with this? Bought 70mai pro

Want to ask, the parking mode need to add the hardwire kit? Just got mine 70mai pro today and installed at accessory shop. Charged RM 80 to install another cigarette point and hide inside the console box.

Check the lines - ACC to power when start engine. BATT for constant power. Ground is grounding.

You might need fuse taps and fuse tester to see which fuse is ACC and BATT.

Actually no need hardwire kit but will rely on the built-in internal battery for some power to work the "impact then only record" parking mode.

Why you need to install another ciggie port? The 70Mai Pro comes with a 2 port USB car charger. Can use that or your own USB car charger to power the 70Mai Pro and charge a phone.

Wonder the 500mah battery can last how many hour. I prefer hide the cable so install another port and keep inside console box. Existing port not enough already.

Maybe an hour of video or less but only when triggered.

With a hardwire kit will be longer. Could have hardwire with the 70mai 3 wires hardwire kit instead of installing another ciggie port.

I was thinking to install hardwire as well since installing another cigarette port but need to buy the kit. Also parking normally the chances kena bang is low compare to driving.

For me, recording while driving is good enough and if have rear recording will be perfect.

Thanks. I think the hardwire kit comes with 5A fuse. Is this ok? Which is the recommended fuse to tap from?

You'll need to test which fuse is which with a fuse tester.

Hi, just bought the 70MAI pro recently.

Need advice on the sensitivity setting:-
1. In the Collision Sensitivity what is the normal setting? Low or High?
2. In Advance Setting Parking Surveillance, what is the normal setting for sensitivity? Low or High?

70mai Pro custom firmware with greatly improved image quality. But remember this try at your own risk as flashing custom firmware might brick the device.

The latest is 1.07. If your 70mai app can't download the latest, you'll need to get the firmware file and manually update it.

The international version is the interface has English UI and can choose other languages. China version is Chinese UI.

You'll need to ask 70mai as I can't find also laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

2.following the question above, after it give sound like turning off, my adas is not working..

3. my problem is video still recording but adas not working..i try to turn off the cam(hold power button) n it goes to parking mode ( i set the parking mode on).. the i turn on again.. then my adas working again..

4.this happen every 30 minutes (from the display is on)

is it normal or my decive is faulty?

5. can i lock certain video in my drive? because my sdcard only 16gb..so maybe i need to view certain video later but cannot do that because the looping will delete my old video

Hi, I am using 70mai pro Global/International unit with GPS (adas) too ..current FW on mai is 1.07 & apps Version 1.4.0 (connected to usb port)
1. Only the screen goes off due to screen saver, never experience the device actual turn off it self.
2. Adas works until I kill off my engine. ( check with video recording while parking GPS coordinate and speed "zero" is indicated),
when traveling lane departure & warning of vehicle in front, when waiting at traffic light once the car moves it alerts you of the motion of the front vehicle. (Quite annoying after a while, turn the vol to low now)
3. Never tried turning off the 70mai before for force restart. It just continue recording when car engine is on & parking mode activated when I kill the engine.
4. Never happen to my unit before. (Tried after 1 week not starting the engine, only the parking mode is disable battery in Mai is flat, after a few hours of charging is back to normal)
5. Video are safe kept in event section, normal recording gets looped ( I usually delete all my parking and event videos when I start my car, saves space) and is recording for 3 min now after the 1.07 update.
You can try reset your mai if you still face auto off (might be just a FW issue) hmm.gif hmm.gif
Good luck.

Hi Joey. May I know how to reset the dashcam? tried 5 click on the power button while dashcam is on but nothing happened. My cam screen is not showing any OSD but the screen is on. Buttons all no response.

This happened after updating to 1.0.7. I suspect the fw file i downloaded got corrupted maybe due to unstable connection or because my car battery current not stable and not enough to support the cam while updating.

Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

I downloaded the FW using the apps..and push it to the 70mai pro dashcam.
Update only take less then 1-2 mins. Quite fast just keep your car running during the update.
And maybe you can try the pin hole on the side (camera head)...(reset button)

If you're not using the parking mode then no need to use the hardwire kit.

Also, the 70mai has a small built-in lithium battery for the parking mode.

By right the USB charger should not affect the push start button.
