And most international models should be fine
If the phone specs only states B28 (no a or b), it is very likely that the phone can be used with both DNB & ULTRA5G networks

Looks like DNB 5G isn't working over U Mobile at least at this location.
No problems on Maxis. Maybe they're turning on ULTRA5G? |

![]() suddenly right now it shows Ultra5G, Kuching MJC area but more like "ULTRA SLOW UNUSABLE 5G" 😆🤣😄😂 it's literally unusable. why does it shows that when in the detail info it shows only connected to 4G band. don't trick people lah Umobile day time /evening speed still terrible even connected to N78 5G band, barely doing 18mbps. it's not like I downloading anything so it's still fine. btw wonder what those color stripes means on those antennas, telco? band? ![]() This post has been edited by xonedl: Oct 18 2025, 06:40 PM |

You need to wait until the nearest U Mobile site from your house upgraded to 5G to enjoy more reliable connection |

Quick question, does U Mobile support RCS? My Google Messages app is stuck at "Connecting" for my U Mobile number, and has been for the past week. 🤣

Latest news update on U Mobile's 2nd 5G (SA) network: https://soyacincau.com/2025/10/14/u-mobile-...mpur-road-test/ - U Mobile ULTRA5G: 90.9% 5G population coverage in KL? We put it to the test BY Alexander Wong 14 October 2025 Malaysia’s second 5G network currently deployed by U Mobile has achieved 54.9% 5G population coverage according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. This marks a major milestone just months after U Mobile launched its ULTRA5G network with Berjaya Times Square as its first location. Based on Fahmi’s tweet, U Mobile’s own 5G network has already covered a high percentage of populated areas in the Klang Valley and here’s the breakdown for the top states and territories in Malaysia: Putrajaya – 99.7% Kuala Lumpur – 90.9% Labuan – 90.8% Pulau Pinang – 82.3% Selangor – 70.9% With Kuala Lumpur having over 90% of 5G populated coverage, we decided to put U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network to the test using U Mobile’s Prepaid SIM. Take note that U Mobile customers can now access two different 5G networks – “U Mobile” via DNB network and “UM ULTRA5G” which runs on their own 5G network. ... Out of 19 locations in Kuala Lumpur, we only managed to connect to ULTRA5G at 5 locations namely TTDI, TRX (Exchange 106), Bukit Bintang (in front of Lot 10), Berjaya Times Square and GMBB (along Jalan Pudu). This shows that U Mobile customers in Kuala Lumpur are still heavily reliant on DNB’s network for 5G services. That’s only 26.3% of tested areas ( 5 out of 19 ) being covered by ULTRA5G, and the reality which seems far off from the purported 90.9% 5G population coverage. .... The orange telco’s long term goal is to achieve 80% 5G population coverage by the second half of 2026. This is followed by 90% 5G population coverage a year later. ... . |

QUOTE(Epic_winner091 @ Oct 21 2025, 11:36 AM) I really want to know they quantity that 90% figure in KL. .Most of the time I'm still stuck on the overly congested DNB network. ![]() From the above soyacincau news link, .... ... It could be possible that U Mobile may have the sites ready but they are not commercially “on-air” yet. ... = why not "on-air" yet.? Also, .... ... In terms of performance, the telco’s very own ULTRA5G does show higher download and upload figures ranging from 357Mbps to 682Mbps. This is to be expected as DNB is currently shared by multiple operators with more active subscribers versus U Mobile’s own 5G network which has lower load. Once DNB2's/U Mobile's 5G SA network is fully operational with 80% coverage by mid-2026, there should be less congestion on 5G for all subscribers. ....... Both DNB1 and DNB2 each has a 120MHz frequency block = total 4.8Gbps capacity to be shared by the celco's subscribers. Each 5G cell tower can service a maximum of about 500 active subscribers simultaneously. If a celco has paid DNB1 for 1Gbps capacity, peak traffic hours in urban areas = 5G network congestion = each active subscriber gets only 1,000Mbps/500 = 2Mbps. DNB1 = Maxis, CelcomDigi and YES. DNB2 = U Mobile, MNVO, (and TM-UM.?). = in mid-2026, there should be less network congestion with DNB2. . This post has been edited by lurkingaround: Oct 21 2025, 01:05 PM |

4G indoors isn't as extensive as Celcomdigi/Maxis. But YMMV.
Outdoors around KL seems to be ok. 5G (on DNB) should be the same as everyone else. There are pockets of their ULTRA5G network but coverage seems to be increasing. |
