Haven't buy simpack for a long time liao. So today I help my aunty to buy Umobile starter pack for her maid at 7-Eleven.

Is it normal that the 7-11 staff will ask for our IC and to take a photo of it?

Yes.

U Mobile's L08 (LTE band 8) only has 2x5MHz.... well, because they only have 2x5MHz 900MHz spectrum holding. About speed.... should theoretically max around 30Mbps when less load & good signal

I do not think Umobile is going with DNB btw
*

They did want to use DNB, but they didn't want shares in DNB just like Maxis

Hi guys.

I can't get 5G. Can you please advise me?

Phone: Redmi K60
Location: Klang Valley
SIM: New card
Plan: Postpaid 38

Thank you
*

Device doesn't support LTE B28... which is a must to use 5G in Malaysia for now. Don't confuse with 5G n28

Change your phone or wait until DNB/telco start using 5G SA (Standalone) mode

The website ....... https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/fbef5b79 - Xiaomi Redmi K60 says the device supports both DNB's LTE B28/700MHz and 5G NR B78/3.5GHz.

Maybe DNB does not approve the Xiaomi Redmi K60 5G device as "tested and authorized".

.
UPDATE: ....... DNB says the Xiaomi Redmi K60 is not a supported 5G device. .......

Better refer from manufacturer website instead: https://www.mi.com/redmi-k60/specs. No LTE B28 support... that website you linked mistakes Redmi K60 with its global equivalent (POCO F5 Pro)

At least that website has form to submit corrections, which I did.

How U Mobile handles handover between own 4G network and DNB 5G network.

Didn't expect Umobile to utilise B20... I thought only YTL use it?

Bugged data reporting... no way U Mobile has access to B20

Just want to ask you guys, is U Mobile already turn on their own 5G network in other areas?
Keep changing between U Mobile and UM ULTRA5G in Port Dickson and Seremban.
๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„
*

Yes, U Mobile do expand their own 5G very rapidly from what I can track so far... I believe all states/FT should already have ULTRA5G coverage

Now I'm curious. What bands are they using? Can you access their dedicated network via prepaid?
*

NSA mode: B28+n78 (All U Mobile prepaid/postpaid/U Home 5G)
SA mode: n28 & n78 (can aggregate), only for these plans for now (U Postpaid 98โ€‹/U Biz 98โ€‹/U Premiumโ€‹/U Platinum)

if i don't have umobile postpaid, how to know if my area has ultra 5g? can manual scan network and see if ultra 5g appear on the list?
*

... and the network name will change to "UM ULTRA5G" if you're in the Ultra5G area

Even band locking to LTE B28 only in those areas would suffice. I don't think doing manual network scan will make them appear

I was away for over 1 month.

Now that I'm back, I noticed my Iphone 13 can get full bar 5G at home (previously 1 bar).

But at the same time, my Vivo X100Pro (CN ver) which previously can get like 4 bar 5G, now cannot get 5G (only 4G+).

Do u know what 5G band UM Ultra5G operate on?
*

That's because your CN X100Pro doesn't support B28b/n28b, which U Mobile uses for ULTRA5G... so you won't be able to connect to ULTRA5G at all under NSA mode. Even if your U Mobile plan supports 5G SA, the experience might be significantly degraded when connected to ULTRA5G via SA mode.

You will see the problem more and more as ULTRA5G coverage is expanding.

Your iPhone 13 does support both B28a (which DNB uses)/and B28b, so that's why you get full bars 5G

And most international models should be fine

If the phone specs only states B28 (no a or b), it is very likely that the phone can be used with both DNB & ULTRA5G networks

suddenly right now it shows Ultra5G, Kuching MJC area

but more like "ULTRA SLOW UNUSABLE 5G" ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜‚ it's literally unusable.
why does it shows that when in the detail info it shows only connected to 4G band.
don't trick people lah Umobileย  laugh.gifย  sweat.gif

day time /evening speed still terrible even connected to N78 5G band, barely doing 18mbps.
it's not like I downloading anything so it's still fine.

btw wonder what those color stripes means on those antennas, telco? band?ย  hmm.gif

Yes, the color stripes indicates telco

Based on Cell ID number, the modem is connected to U Mobile cell tower on top of Wisma Satok, based on data from CellMapper... no surprised that it is unusable
