If remote died, you can unlock using key, alarm will sound, then use the cobra code to clear the alarm.

You should have this card when received the car.

[attachmentid=10110392]

How to use shown at the back of the card.

After alarm clear then you can start the car using touching the remote to the push start button method.
- Touch the remote to button for more than 10 secs, still touching, press the brake, start the car.

Done. Now drive to 7E to buy a new battery.

Simple as that.

Someone use the car for more than 4 years SHOULD know this method. This method being discussed over and over again here and at Facebook.
*
Thank you for your tips. I did not receive the cobra card. The manual does not state anything about manual disarming alarm.
I don't see anywhere that allows me to key in the code.
I just got my car 3 months ago, so I'd probably missed reading postings from years ago.

LOL. I don't think will void warranty la. You never tried yet. Its so easy I will laugh if they void warranty because of that.

Changing engine oil myself is also easy. But I'm sure they will void my warranty if I skip the oil change.

Some SC might be strict about it. Please don't give misleading info unless ur Honda official. For those who wish to replace it DIY, better ask the Advisor in SC if they can do that or not b4 proceeding.
*
Exactly. And I wish to highlight that the risk is there unless the SC gives written approval, which I doubt they will. Even then, other SC may not honour it, or you might face problem if the warranty claim needs to be approved by HM.

QUOTE(cempedaklife @ Nov 19 2018, 11:43 PM)
Sure. Please go through everything through official SC. Then no risk at all.
*
You wrote warranty not affected because changing the filter is an easy job. This is misleading, as changing engine oil is also an easy job, which no doubt you agree will void warranty.

I doubt any SC will ever give you a written approval.
Most of them operate based on goodwill and common sense. That said some of them can be quite unreasonable.
To claim that changing filter will cause damage to the HVAC system is pure illogical, SC will lose the case in consumer court 10 out of 10. But this is Malaysia...so there’s always a risk.
*
You contradicted yourself with the 10 out of 10 and this being Msia. So, is it 10 out of 10, or not?

I wouldn't give any written approval if i were them.

Using your analogy, it is illogical to void engine warranty because we changed engine oil outside, more so since we choose the best oil money can buy.

In any case, it's not so much to changing filter ourselves. It's more to their system *not* showing you changed the filter at required interval.

QUOTE(fx9 @ Nov 20 2018, 06:20 PM)
read again.
10 out of 10 the case will be thrown out, but being in malaysia it operates in a different way.
I never say using other engine oil wouldn't void your warranty, not in Malaysia, that's just your fantasy. Some countries do allow that as long as according to car maker's spec or better.

Anyway, my whole point is, to void or not to void the warranty is Honda's call. You can argue all you want. If they want to layan you, they layan.
*
Read, re-read,... Still cannot figure out if you will win 10/10 in court.
Are you saying court will throw out the case 10/10 if you initiate a court case - meaning you cannot win, or you sure win?

I'm certainly not arguing with anyone, neither was I the one who suggested DIY-ing aircon filter will not void warranty.
He suggested filter changing is a simple job and he will laugh if warranty is affected by that.
If you read carefully what I wrote, the message is "just because it's a simple job does not mean HM won't void warranty". I even gave example of changing engine oil (which is a simple job but is guaranteed to get your warranty void).

I think we both agree that it's not so much of what you and I think. Rather, it's what HM think, that determines our warranty status.

Cheers.

Glad to hear that. Is that a Tribunal or Small Claim court? It's always nice to hear of such outcome in the case of David vs Goliath.

cheers. what I meant was, if consumer files a complaint, normally no ppl will layan.
However, seems like Nordingh's friend has experience otherwise, so situation is not so bleak after all.  thumbup.gif

Indeed. Alas, there's a Small Claim Tribunal which we the little people can seek help.
Back to the a/c filter, much as I hate to let SC do such a simple job, I look at the bigger picture. To file a case in tribunal will take up more time and effort compared to forking out the money for filter at SC.
Of course, others are free to disagree.

You all type so much for what ah? Whatever you change DIY or service outside you keep the receipts lah. Even if their system no show, you have proof you did service. If everything go through SC then soon you all will just be bitching about how expensive things from SC are.  Lol
*
Everyone knows it's expensive to service at SC.

It's up to you to follow the scheduled maintenance by the book, or save a bit by skipping certain parts and rage when your warranty is void.

The point is, unless you know for sure that skipping that particular service/part replacement will not void the warranty, it's best not to tell others it's okay to skip.

I think it's unfair to expect the dealer to honour the warranty, yet thinking it's ok to skip certain service/replacement at SC.

As long not cut wires, it should not. If it can be dismantled and take it out in case of related warranty claims, then its no problem.
*
IMO, anything you installed outside can be used against your warranty claim. How you counter (be it soft talk or tribunal case) is another story.

If I were to install it, I'd make sure I dismantle it when I want to highlight any related issues to SC. I don't want the SC ppl to take photographs of the thing to use against me.

There's a saying, want to mod don't be scared. If scared, don't mod.
Of course, there are owners who are sure their mods won't cause warranty issues. Who am I to tell them otherwise?

Which SC in Selangor/KL do y'all recommend to go to for scheduled maintenance?
Is there any good ones that kind of turns a blind eye to minimal modding? Small modding like foot pedal lighting and illuminated side step.
*
I spoke to one SA. He said the technicians don't bother with your mod if your are just doing normal servicing and not claiming any warranty.
"They are not so free to take photos of your modifications".
If you were the SA, would you be bothered with the 18" sports rims (ok, slight exaggeration) on the City that is handled by you?
Don't quote me on this though. I'd still remove my OBD door lock thingy when I send the car for servicing.

But this price seem to include security tint on top of that. Normally you would have to pay that price only for the solar tint film itself. Anyways, i just thought to share. If any of you can find a better deal, then go for it. 3M tint performance is outstanding!

That's the quotation I got over the phone from one of the shops in KL for 3M crystalline all round with Scotshield at the sides.

I know 3M is good, because I'm using it biggrin.gif

As a hybrid owner , the experience is meh and there are soo many things to take care of - if you want the car to last longer - like the battery

Oh yes , did I mention , water spillage in the trunk = goodbye to your warranty and replacement
Should have went with V spec instead !
*
I was quite keen on the City Hybrid, DCT and all that. The deal breaker is the lack of curtain airbags, and to a certain extend the lack of spare tyre. In all my decades of driving, I've only used the spare tyre less than five times but it does not feel good knowing there is no spare tyre.

Why not just BUY a space saver type spare tyre and put at the back for peace of mind?
*
That was what I'd do if I bought the car, but probably will bring on board when I'm travelling far.
Still, lack of curtain airbags killed the idea.

QUOTE(dickybird @ Nov 25 2018, 10:39 PM)
Had maybe 2 punctures in the last 8 years of driving, even with a spare tyre, I'd just get the tyre fixed soonest because tyre shops are everywhere.
Had a think about the lack of a spare tyre, but with the low probability of punctures and ready availability of tyre shops, I just got a tyre pressure monitor system to keep an eye on pressures and alert me if there is a puncture and it has done.
*
QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Nov 25 2018, 11:25 PM)
As long you are within cellphone range, HIP is there for you in case of bad tyre puncture. Otherwise, just go to any petrol station and fill in air, then drive to nearest tyre shop to get it patched. In Malaysia, both of these facilities are everywhere, unlike in Europe or Australia.
*
I like to travel far, the most recent trip was to Lenggong in Perak, towards Gerik. I'm not sure how long or whether help will arrive if I have a puncture.

And if the tyre is beyond patching with cacing, will I have to tow it to tyre shop?

I suppose people like me are too careful in this aspect, as the consequence is really not worth it. Once, I had a flat but the wheel nuts were too tight for me to open, until I actually bent the wrench. Called for help and it took one hour to come (day time and in a city area).

Is this good enough? saw some reviews saying it has squeeky sound.

Looking for silicone one but not sure what brand is good.
Heard PIAA is very good but expensive. how much is the refill and can it fit original honda wiper?
Thanks smile.gif
*
Refill is much cheaper. Stock size is 26", 14". You can measure the thickness, iirc, it's 8mm for the driver's side and 6mm for the passenger side.

I bought a pair of PIAA wipers (complete set) as I wasn't sure refills would fit. Now I am sure refills will fit as my new PIAA wipers have the same dimensions.

I dunnolol lah, mine I just trust the SA, ask him kaotim everything for me  laugh.gif
*
Yes, I did that on the day I was supposed to pay my d/p. At that point in time, the car wasn't registered yet. I checked it for major defects and took down the chassis number.

Then again, I would just have then repair minor defects as I had waited almost 3 months for it (zero gst).

During the first click when u turn on the head light, or it will just dim the drl only?
*
The drl becomes dimmer and acts as your "small light" when you switch on the "small light". Even so, they are still rather bright compared to the "small lights" of other cars.

Guys, did you tint the top horizontal part of your windscreen with dark film? I need to use the sun visor often due to the brightness but that's where I store my apartment access card and it drops off easily when the visor is used.
Does the top tint:
1. Affect your line of vision for those tall dudes? I drove such tinted Vios sampan version and it almost reaches my eye level.
2. Affect your night vision?

*
What is there about Honda City Hybrid to show off? You need to change the tail lights to LED type, which the V spec comes standard. The V spec is about the same price, if not more expensive than the Hybrid, no? Comparing this to Rolex is baffling, as the price difference between the fake and real stuff is very high.

Mine is with dark tint the top part (well, actually it came like that but lazy to bother). It takes some time to get used to it cuz my old car tint didn't come with it. It felt like looking thru a framed window or and aquarium but I didn't notice this anymore. If you're tall, try to see if can adjust the seat height down and trim the dark tint edges so you can see better.
*
That's my main worry. My previous cars had those 3-4" factory darkish/greenish tint along the top of the windscreen, which made it unnecessary for me to add an extra dark strip there.

QUOTE(nordingh @ Nov 30 2018, 11:52 AM)
I did, not affected my view at all.
*
Thank you for your input.

QUOTE(dickybird @ Nov 30 2018, 12:04 PM)
I think tint shop do it as part of the service. If your vision is blocked by it then maybe try adjust your seating position? Maybe you’re sitting too high in the car?
If you are very tall then maybe you can as the tint shop to do just a half size strip instead of the normal size one.
But try adjusting  your seating position first, starting with the lever that raises or drops your seat.
I am 1.69m so with my current seat position, my view is not blocked by it.
*
QUOTE(otnuus @ Nov 30 2018, 01:37 PM)
My SA did tinting for me before getting the car. He did ask if I want the top portion to be tinted black. I remember he told me is 7 inch. Perhaps you can ask for different length from tint shop to suit your sitting position.
*
The tint shop boss mentioned that it's 7" wide. It didn't occur to me to ask him to trim a bit. Thanks for the idea.
