Any within budget for Lenovo or Asus?
*
Lenovo Ideapad 320s 14 with RAM+SSD upgrades, but not 15 inch and has weaker GPU. Asus only has Vivobook in this price range (there are also Zenbooks but with weaker CPU) and most Vivobooks are mediocre (S530 is decent)

Do you really need TB3? Any preference on weight and battery life?

Omen dc only has 144Hz panel in 1060 6GB model (in Malaysia)

Haha, TB3 actually not particularly important on this purchase as this is company's laptop entitled for me. Nope, both weight & battery life are not deciding factors for me but preferebly in 15.6" form factor.

If you want 1060 GPU:
Commandos Carbine 5 (Clevo N950TP6) with 72% NTSC 60Hz IPS, 144Hz IPS or 60Hz UHD
Level51 W15 Lite (Clevo N950TP6) with 120Hz TN (probably needs calibration)
Illegear Raven (TongFang GJ5CN6E) with 144Hz IPS

Would you mind getting 1050TI?

Greetings, can anyone give opinion on AMD Ryzen 3 vs an i5 , I noticed the price differences with same spec and was wondering if there is much of a difference for the higher price point.

I’ve read some benchmark and explanations but I still don’t have a clear answer to the question above. ( Specifically Envy 13 vs x360 )

Main usage purposes are multibrowsing, read e-book and movie/netflix.
Strictly no gaming. Thanks

Update : Bought the xps 13 instead

Ryzen 3 mobile: Intel 2c4t performance. Quite a big difference TBH

Which models? If you're asking Envy x360 13, don't get it unless you need the SFF, 2 in 1 and good display. Ryzen mobile in 13 inch Ultrabooks will have inconsistent+poor performance and worse battery life

Hi there, i am also looking at this option but was quoted almost 3k with 4GB RAM & 128GB SSD upgrade

Wonder where can I get for 2.7k confused.gif

My usage is quite similar with another fellow forumer, i.e mostly ms office application + watching movie + surfing
Thinking if the CPU speed is good enough for Football Manager, graphic is not an issue cos i will skip the highlights

If there is other newer option as compared to HP please do share biggrin.gif

Thanks !

You can buy this model under 2.5k. 4GB RAM+120/128GB SSD upgrades are around RM300

If you don't do much gaming, Ideapad 320s 14 with RAM+SSD upgrades

Sorry should have been clearer -

Budget - Below RM3k
Usage - Mostly Ms Office, surfing, watching movie and if gaming will be only Football Manager.
Display - 15'
Weight - Below 2kg
Battery Life - no preference, anything above 4hours considered good ?

All in all hope to get one that can last maybe 3-4 years

Thanks notworthy.gif

Anyone can give opinion on Surface Laptop? Planning on getting the refresh but scare cannot run too much apps. Planning on some cs and dota on it
*
I don't think it's suitable for that purpose so that's the first negative point. The refresh brings nothing new to the table other
than 8th gen processor and perhaps a slightly better screen. Ports selection is piss poor for a USD 1K machine - still not TB3
port in 2018 when they can make it available in the cheaper Surface Go and more expensive Surface Book 2. I did wait for it
to see if it's worth the money but MS went with a lazy approach for the Surface Laptop 2.

I suggest Y530 with 15% student discount (1050TI with 144Hz IPS), however the delivery takes time

Other options:
Illegear Raven - optional 144Hz IPS
Dell G7 - only 1050 GPU and low sRGB IPS display
Commandos Glock 5 (Clevo NB50TK1) - optional 72% NTSC 60Hz, 144Hz or UHD IPS

16GB RAM is recommended for your usage

Same: HP Pavilion 15 cs0033tx with RAM+SSD upgrades

Or Acer Swift 3 15 (old model with soldered RAM) - i5-8250U+iGPU, i5-8250U+MX150 or R5-2500U+RX540 (not recommended)
