How are the temps? Looks like it has a bad stock paste (I mean, really bad. 20C difference)

didnt really notice the thermal.
i always on the turbo boost when playing DOTA 2.
might feel a little heat around the right side of keyboard keys but nothing worrying for me.

any good, minimal and safe thermal tracker app/software i can download to monitor the thermal?

No business quality, no upgradability, performance+battery life issues. Better display though. Specs don't mean everything

i owned the envy 13 x360. I upgraded the storage to 480GB. 256GB is a little too small.

Screen and color is good. Battery is around 5-6 hours for surfing (need to tweak the power). Can do some light gaming. If you want to make it last longer (i use the energizer XP20001PD), you will need a PD powerbank that can supply about 45W power.

The convertible ultrabook is around 1.2kg (feel like holding x1 carbon) compared to A485 which is around 1.6kg (without the bigger second battery), if you add the powerbank which is around 400gm, it will be around 1.6kg.

Bad thing about ryzen is that, it takes 1GB out of the 8GB to use for the dedicated GPU and you left with about 7GB to use.. and windows 10 itself use about 1-2GB.. so you're left with about 5GB of memory to use.

Another thing is that the face recognition works fine in dark since it has IR camera but no fingerprint.

If the ryzen can be improved further (dedicated ram and improved for GPU) and lenovo maintains the A series next 2 years, i'll consider buying one..

Seriously thinking about Envy as I am looking for that kind of laptop, look nice, ample RAM, light with good display. Touchscreen (use on the road a lot, and with win10, this is very good feature). That's why I cannot consider Lenove720s Ryzen, similar spec no touchscreen

As currently using Vaio-13, I5, 4GB, 128 GB SSD, do this purchase feel an upgrade to current one?

Specs wise, its definitely an upgrade but you need to go to the showroom and feel it yourself.

Try the active stylus as well. Not the best but usable.

This one more like lenovo yoga 720 but i think yoga got no ryzen if i'm not mistaken.

I bought it because its light, can do light gaming, enough ram to do some programming, can do some scribbling , its a convertible.. some people like it, some hate it..

If you don't need the pen and hate convertible, i think Lenovo A485 is a good option, i think can easily last 10-12 hours with the second battery but screen and color wise.. probably not that good

Need recommendations for gaming laptop. I tried ASUS FX504 only to find out it has been locked to 25 W TDP.

*Budget rm4000±
*Preferably either i7 8th gen (1st priority) or 1060 (w/ i5)
*Usage for comp sci course, virtualization and gaming AAA titles (not always 1080p)
*Extra features: fan noise can be controlled 4 lectures, no blatant throttle like fx504, if possible doesn't look like gaming laptop too much

I think you may like the HP Omen 15. Specs and reviews look good for its price. Check at shoppee.
