QUOTE(ghodul @ Feb 19 2019, 09:45 AM) This will be my home workstation. So, weight and battery life is not really something that i care much. Any type of laptop will do, as long as its within the budget... Acer Nitro 5 +RAM+SSD, need repaste+undervolt

QUOTE(donhay @ Feb 19 2019, 12:04 PM) Thanks I going to buy Lenovo Ideapad 530s 15 81EV00DVMJ, current RAM is 4Gb, can I upgrade to 8Gb and is it possible to add an extra internal Hard disk? RAM can upgrade (1 slot only if I remembered correctly) It supports M.2 only, no 2.5 inch bay

QUOTE(1setsuna1 @ Feb 19 2019, 03:20 PM) After checking all the model, I actually find the Yoga 15 fits pretty well. The plus points that I see is that it has Thunderbolt Type C USB, PCIe SSD, and standalone Nvidia graphics card in case I decide to play some more recent games. Any comments/thoughts on the laptop is much appreciated. It's a good model, just be aware of the fairly small battery and GPU temp limit (common in convertibles)

Hi, I've recently got Zenbook 14 (UX433F) and I notice there's a metallic/plastic smell on it. It's quite strong because I could smell it right after I took the laptop out of its box. Is that normal for a new laptop?

QUOTE(ghodul @ Feb 19 2019, 08:38 PM) Is there any other models? From my readings, this model is popular with overheating... virtual machines can be demanding but lower your expectations and they can run fine on U-series Intel processors. These U-series Intel processor laptops can be obtained for around RM2000 with the IdeaPad 330S however U-series Intel processors are found in all other sorts of laptops including the Aspire 5, VivoBook S510/S530, Inspiron 14 5480 (I heard of poor battery compared to competitors) and more. If you need more power with H-series Intel processors, the Nitro 5 is one of the more affodable offering at around RM3000 but not recommended. Most affodable H-series Intel laptop that I recommend is the Illegear Raven.

The best i ever had. But sell it due to underutilized, as i'm no longer playing game at PC. More to PS4 nowadays...

Long story short, as I got serious in to getting a new laptop I was made aware of ZM Fong 'Gaming laptops approval list (Malaysia)'. Out of all the laptops listed from RM3000 to RM3999 under the "CFL-H (8th gen)" list, the Raven was the most affodable option.

Glock 5 is the best value actually BTW I haven't update the prices and models for quite a long time, might do an update when I'm free This post has been edited by ZM Fong: Feb 20 2019, 08:05 AM
